Welcome home! Sounds like you are doing just fine. With time it will only get better. The headache probably means you are not drinking enough liquid. You could be a little dehydrated. Remember sip sip sip. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes as a matter of fact, the nurse gave me a stack of about a dozen of them! She says it should take 10 minutes to drink one down. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

You'll do great. Just remember to take care of yourself and only do what you feel comfortable and able to do. I walked a lot of loops around the ward because I felt good enough to do so. Other patients joined me and would walk one or two loops and that was plenty for them. Also take your time. Walk at a comfortable pace. It's not a race. Also sip sip sip on your water. Take whatever comfort items to need with you. I brought my special blankie, pajamas, robe, slippers, brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, chap stick, meds (which was the only thing I didn't use), phone and charger, and a couple extra undies. No pain yet. They were putting pain meds in my IV every few hours. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow after being home and the meds have worn off. Walking was a breeze. No passing gas yet either unless I did it in my sleep. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

How do you cook for your family post-op?
TheNewMrsR replied to TheNewMrsR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my husband the same thing. He's okay with it because he wants to lose about 15 pounds too. He thinks he might lose it while I'm doing to post op diet. He blames me for the 15 pounds he's gained since we met hahaha. I do love to cook comfort food which is typically not the healthy stuff. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Sleeved on Nov. 1. Recovery room was rough and I threw up a couple times. After that I was wheeled to a room and slept for several more hours. All total I slept 12 hours post op. People kept talking to me but I was so out of it. I don't remember my husband kissing me and going home for the night. I finally woke up at 9pm and drank some chicken broth and walked 2 miles in laps around my ward. Sipped water. Then I konked back out. I was up every 45 minutes going pee all night long. Woke up the next day (today) and felt great. Walked over 4 miles throughout the day waiting for hubby to pick me up at 5p. The staff was calling me marathoner. I inspired other patients to get up and walk with me. I had a small cup of yogurt and some tomatoes soup and a premier chocolate shake throughout the day. Good luck to all three other November sleevers. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

Dating with the fat girl still on the inside...

Stupid auto correct... should say "thin with my lap band" not "thinking". Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Dating with the fat girl still on the inside...

100% this right here. When I met my husband 6 years ago I was thinking with my lap band. The lap band broke and he watched me gain 60 pounds over there next 4 years and guess what. He proposed and married me while I was over weight. 36 hours post-op sleeve now so I can get back to the girl he met 6 years ago. I'm lucky that he loved me through it and loves me no matter what size. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Separation/Emotional break down
TheNewMrsR replied to Drzthickness85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sucks. People who care would not say I told you so or be disparaging. They would just be there to offer comfort. I'm sorry you have to do this alone. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Separation/Emotional break down
TheNewMrsR replied to Drzthickness85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find a friend to come around that can help cheer you up and maybe eat with you. You need a support network. Good luck and sorry for your situation. I know it's difficult right now. My thoughts are with you for continued success. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
TheNewMrsR replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I love tuna salad and hummus so I put it on veggies instead of crackers. Used to do celery but I'm only 24 hours post op right now and think I remember that celery might be too stringy so I might have to stick with carrots, zucchini, and Bell peppers for dipping once I get food again. What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
TheNewMrsR replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost almost 100 pounds with lap band almost 10 years ago. Once the band broke I sabatoged all my progress by going back to the same old habits and gained 65% of my lost weight back. Hence the need for revision to sleeve. This time I have promised myself I will follow doctor's orders to a T. I will eat a better selection of food. Not saying I won't have a cheat BITE or TASTE now and then but it won't be my main way of eating. Two surgeries. I can't let them be for naught. I'm getting to old for this. I need to take care of me. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I love the vitamins from bariatric advantage. They are like a piece of candy so they feel decadent to be eating them! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Recovery room after surgery was rough. I threw up a couple times which caused me to pee the bed. How mortifying. I was groggy and could not wake up. Slept for 12 hours. Once I woke up, I felt great. Next morning. No site pain or gas pain for me. I'm sure it's because they got so much pain meds in me right now. According to my tracker I walked 1.5 miles in laps around my ward last night. My mantra is walk walk walk... Other patients joined me that saw me walking so much. They said they felt guilty laying in bed. Apparently I inspired them. The nurses earned their pay last night as I was calling them about every 45 minutes to get unhooked from everything to go pee. Between 11:30pm and 5 am. I get a thimble of a protein shake today. I hope my other Nov. 1 buddies are doing well and feeling good. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

What did you take to the hospital?
TheNewMrsR replied to Williwaw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I brought a blanket, pajama, slippers, robe, 2 pairs of clean socks and undies, chapstick, cell phone and charger, meds, brush, pony tail things and comfy clothes to wear home. Had surgery, no problems, but slept for 12 hours after. Oh I had nausea and threw up two times right after surgery in the recovery room, which caused me to pee the bed so I had to get up so they could change everything. Now I've been walking walking walking so I can go home tomorrow. I feel great with minimal pain right now but I know they put pain relieving stuff in my iv. Good luck to all the other November sleevers. You can do it. I slept for 12 hours post-op but so far I feel great and have been walking a lot. I have a little bowl of broth and a little cup of water now. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

I had no requirement at all for a pre-op diet but I did a self imposed liquid diet for 3 days and lost 7 pounds in that time. I've just barely woke up after 12 hours of sleeping post-op. Walked some laps around the ward. Now having some broth and water. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm hiding my surgery from family anyone else ?
TheNewMrsR replied to mzsantiago88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[emoji106] I used the ole "my eyes were bigger than my stomach" line a lot the first year. Now that I'm getting a revision to sleeve I guess I'll be back in the same boat again. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Post-op: How long until you ate real food?

I'm hiding my surgery from family anyone else ?
TheNewMrsR replied to mzsantiago88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my lap band surgery on December 4, 2009. I had a couple of Christmas and New year's dinners to attend as well as my company holiday party. Guess what. When everyone is busy visiting and talking nobody pays attention to what you're eating. I just moved food around on my plate, compacted it to look like less than what I started with and put my napkin on top when I was done. I took a nibble here and there of like a mashed potatoes or something soft and mostly just visited and talked with everyone. Now that I think back, I do remember putting a gallon size ziplock baggie in my purse in case I needed to hide food when nobody was looking. I had the same concerns as you. I am stocked up on protein water of various brands, flavors, and quantity of protein. I've only tried a couple since I heard your taste buds may change anyhow. Figured I'll just chance it after the fact. The ones I did try were really sweet so I watered them down. I've been using the Bariatric advantage shakes for at least 1 meal a day since my lap band was removed in February to try to keep from gaining weight until sleeve surgery. I like them so I hope I don't hate them after surgery. Good luck everyone! Since I'm on the first day of the month feel free to ask me questions if you have any before your turn! Hopefully I'll be able to pop in and say hey tomorrow night or Thursday. Where's my Nov. 1 buddy? Good luck Sunshine! I hope everything goes well and is relatively pain free for you. When I had the lap band put in and removed the pain was more like I had done too many crunches at the gym but I may have a high pain tolerance. There was no pain at the incision sites. Sitting up from a laying down position was the worst of it. Otherwise sitting and walking and sleeping were fine. I never even took the pain meds they gave me. Not sure but I'm gonna guess having half my stomach removed rather than just having something implanted might be a little more sore. Fingers crossed.
