Should I Or Shouldnt I Get Banded
journey4me replied to chaya's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You will find with this surgery you yourself will have to have your head in the game. It is both an emotional and physical journey.I'd say you need a better support system. You need someone who is going to have positive feedback. I love coming here for support because it is the here and now, you can bet that someone here has experience what you are going through. Good luck! -

I think it's only natural to be afraid of failure. Most likely many if not all have tried to diet and "failed" at it. Obviously! lol I think it makes sense that this experience would make a person feel the same way. Once you start this journey and the weight starts dropping you will be surprised at how much confidence you will have that you CAN do this! We are all in this together!

Very Disappointed In Myself... :(
journey4me commented on caligalles's blog entry in Caligalles' Blog
Chin up it's all good! This is a journey not an answer to all, it is a great tool you just have to let it help you. Listen to your body, it takes effort, but so worth it! -
Definitely going to lose the inches the way you are going! The scale itself doesn't always predict how healthy we are getting. Good job!

It is definitely a challenge! I find myself wanting to reward with eating, but am starting to realize that is when I need to do something else. I am just having a hard time finding something that was as instantly gratifying as eating was. I am doing good, but the whole mind game and old habits take an effort to get by! p.s.- it's not just you I just know that the chicken does have feelings! lol

I Can see my toes and actually the whole top of my foot! So exciting. I have also discovered that I have a collar bone! I can wrap my fingers around my wrist and touch the floor! My joints still hurt and I am hoping it gets better with losing more. I am so happy!

Psycholgical Support After Banding
journey4me replied to jennifer1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't see a psychologist, but I think it would be helpful. My time limits and insurance make it hard to keep going. I have a friend who does go to talk with someone because he say's that it really helps with the Psychological part of the journey. -

I was banded on January 19th. How has your weight loss been going for you?

It's was much harder in the beginning than I thought it would be too. Everyday is a learning experience, this is all new. It can be frustrating and just know that, that is normal and very common. Look for support on here and you will get it. Especially in the beginning make this your life line when it comes to lap band issues. Take it easy...

Good luck there has to be something out there. Hopefully you will get someone who has gone through it to give you advice on here. I am sorry I wasn't much help.

There might be something herbal. I would ask a health food store or search online.

Was done on a Thursday so my 5 days included a weekend. I only actually missed Thursday and Friday. My job involves a lot of walking and it was hard to get energy at that point, but I made it through. Rough first few weeks with energy level. Good Luck!

Go get some Biotin it is used to strengthen your hair and nails. It works great! Found in the vitamin isle. Good luck!

Any "bucket List" Items Added Once You Get Your Weight Down
journey4me replied to MikeinMD's topic in The Guys’ Room
Bucket list- 1. Run (take the dog for a run...I know that would make her happy!) 2. Go horseback riding...and not feel sorry for the horse!) 3. Ice skate (used to be a figure skater when I was younger) 4. Wear Jeans that are not Mom jeans! 5. Ride my bike (and not worry about the tires!) 6. Bungee jump! 7. Tummy tuck! 8. White water rafting 9. Wear underwear that are a size that is single digit! (lol) -
I waited a long time to tell people including my family. I didn't tell them til a couple days before surgery becasue this was my decision and I didn't want anyone elses feelings about it interfer with my choice. I only had one friend who thought I shouldn't do it, but I was ok with that. Everyone has their opinion and people can't understand by just saying the words. It is a process for us to learn and it takes us going through the process to get all the info we need to understand. I have no idea how to make someone else to get it. I would say you have decided that you need to do this for your health9not a lame excuse) the best reason ever! If he is into exercising he should understand how important it is to keep our bodies healthy. You hope others understand and continue on your journey. You have one life and you are in control of it. Good luck!

2 Weeks Post Op.. So Freaking Hungry!!
journey4me replied to rae.holmes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids when I got home and then full liquids and then mushies with gradual progression. I would check with your doctor. The hunger will be there until you get a fill that gives you restriction from your band. Pure willpower right now! Good luck!
