  1. Struggling- I know what you mean. I actually use that fear as a deterant from eating foods that are bad from me. I tell myself that it will "clog my hole". Now does that work all the time, no. But it has helped. Keep up the great work!

  2. Congrats!!! Can I ask you what you normally eat during the day? I have seems to plateau at 22lbs and cant seem to get past it.

I usually do either a plain greek yogurt with delmonte peaches or manderine oranges (packed in Water but drained) or I've been real big on the ricotta cheese mixed with the same

If I'm hungry I do an unjury Protein Shake

lunch I either do tuna packets, 2oz deli meat, fish and a steamed veggie

snack I'll do a laughing cow wedge and/or Protein shake again

dinner my hubby normally cooks a great fish/chicken something or another and I steam a veggie.

With that being said I have eaten out at restaurants and had Pasta, bread (VERY, VERY VERY limited amounts) and have done well. I'm super strict on getting in all my Protein and timing when to drink and when not to.

Hope that helps! You will break the 22lbs. It just will happen. Keep up the great work too!

  3. OMG. I'm sooooooo excited! I was super excited yesterday to be out of the 290's (haven't seen that in a long time), so I was down 27lbs since 1/10. Today I got on the scale and said, "are you f**ing kidding me?" My husband yelled whats wrong? I had to get on the scale again to make sure it was right. I'm down another 2lbs! I can definitely tell a difference since my fill on Thursday. I just hope this continues! Kind of pinching myself.

  4. I was banded exactly one year before you, on the 31st of Jan. It has been 13 months.

    BEST DECISION I EVER MADE.

The band is GREAT! yes, it took a few fills and a few months, but once I got into that Green Zone, it has been the easiest diet I have ever been on. I don't like calling it a diet, because it is not!

Diets are something I have to work at. Being banded is having a surgical procedure, when adjusted properly, controls my hunger, and controls my portion size.

The only thing left for me to do is make wise food choices, ensure I get my Protein and essential nutrients, and always be drinking Water.< /p>

Excecise also, but after loosing all this weight, excercise is fun! No longer a chore.

I have not had a fill since last May, however, I did go see my surgeon last tuesday. He was very impressed with how I looked and how I am progressing.

After some discussion, he did give me 1/2 cc more. I would not have been dissapointed if he didn't, but we both agreed that we are curiuos to see what happens next.

I have never had a problem with the band. Sure, I have gotten stuck more times that I can remember. But that is all part of the learning curve. You have to learn to live and adjust to the band, Not the other way around.

Yes, I agree with you. There is much negatuivity on this site. People who are successful, living with the band normaly day to day, have no reason to come here. So you do not hear from them and their stories. People I looked to for support are all gone. They quit coming around. They are no longer in need of help or support. Only a few still do if by chance they can impart some wisdom to those willing to listen.

so what you do have here, is mainly made up of people just starting out, still having questions. Many are unhappy because IMO they are primarliy mis-informed and have unreal expectations.

So, like they say, you have to chew the meat and spit out the bones. Never listen to someone who has not experienced something themselves.

There are many people here that will tell you all about being stuck and what you should do...but they hae only been banded a short while and never had that experience themselves. And that's just one example, there are many others.

I just want to take a moment and thank you. Your posts have been encouraging to me and I know others and although I'm only 1 month out and things are going well, I look to banders that have gone before us for support, encouragement, examples and just really wanted to thank you. You've made a difference and hope you continue to stay on this site!

  5. Didn't hurt at all! They give you lidocaine injection (feels like a sweat bee sting) and then you don't feel the port needle at all. It was over before I knew it. Filled with 2cc today. I'm definitely full just even on the liquids/protein shakes. I did eat some very watered down cream of mushroom Soup and did fine. Tomorrow I'm on mushies. Now I think the challenge will be getting all my Water in between meals since I'm full. Hopefully this will last a while.

  6. Im getting filled Thursday! Super excited about being full. Ive done great losing 25lbs since the 10th of Jan. But it will be nice to have a little more restriction. Our ports are not directly at the incision site so thats why they go in at a different site. Congrats on your weightloss! Are you on clears fill day then mushies for one day?

  7. Oh my goodness! What a success story! You are an inspiration to me as I've just started my journey a month ago. My goal was to be down 25lbs at my 1 month bandiversary and I made it today (3 days shy!) Congrats! Thats exciting to see long-term results to all of us newbies!

  8. Do you belong to myfitnesspal. com If not sign up for free and check out how many calories you ate just for dinner.

You might be suprised... Could be why you feel bloated also.

Absolutely LOVE myfitnesspal.com! All of the girls at work do it- helps so much to keep track! Couldn't do this journey without it!

  9. I can distinctly remember at one point my first week out walking down my hallway hunched over going "Dear Lord why did I do this!" It was a split second thought. The symptoms you are having are SO common. If you read others post, you are absolutely right on track. The good news? EVERYONE kept telling me hang in there, around day 6 or 7 you will turn the corner. And they were right.

Are you walking? Even if it is in your house round and a round, walk walk and walk somemore. It seems its the only thing to help, as well as gas-x. They make a strip you can take too. You can get through this point. Hoping you starting turning the corner soon! Hang in there!

  10. Call for help to all January bandsters! I was banded on 1/19 and I am having trouble figuring out the amount I am supposed to be eating at each sitting??? I am really confused on the how may ounces thing? Can nayone give me an example of their typical daily day! Thanks so much!

Hey! My doctor states three meals per day (no grazing in between) of 1/2c serving sizes. So 4 oz. is a 1/2c serving size. However with that said, I'm three weeks out and I eat a ful 6oz greek yogurt. I called my nutritionist today and told her I felt like I was eating more than 1/2c and she said at this point I should be working up to 3/4c. As far as liquids, I'm supposed to "sip" all day long. They say you can get 4-6oz liquid per hour. I have been able to get 8-10 give or take of Water, but I'm also not timing it to a tee. I just drink everytime I think about it, still making sure I stop 15 min. before and 1/2hr after a meal. SOOOOO much to keep straight!

  11. I have tried WW before, with of course no success among every other diet known to man. However I will say WW has the most sound nutritional value if you compare most plans. I think for now I'm sticking hard core to my nutritionists plan, but could see myself as I add more things to my diet adapting to WW. Congrats on your weightloss since surgery!
