  1. Thanks for the words! Today is much better than yesterday, I have been up walking around the house trying to get the gas to disipate. My dog is very irritated at me though because I am up more and not taking her to play. My friend is coming over after work and we are gonna go for a walk so that could be helpful to getting the gas pain down.
  2. I have a desk job and I am off 3 weeks courtesy of an amazing boss who wanted to give me time to heal and adjust to a new life! Its like a little new me vacation!
  3. I am still having some massive pain today. The gas pain is really bad and the port incision is crazy bad. I was able to get up and down the 3 flights of stairs today but it didnt feel so nice. I am trying to stay positive but I don't handle pain very well. Anyone have some inspiring words for us people that are on day 4 and not feeling so well? Good thing is that tomorrow I get to move from clear liquids to full liquids so I can have some more satisfying things like protein shakes Yay!!! Cant wait for a Slim Fast Cappucino protien shake! Anyways I am still excited for this journey just a little down with the pain!
  4. I was just banded on Monday and my process was very quick. Luckily my insurance policy is amazing and with very minimal pre-surgey requirements. It all depends on the insurance policy but my case worker said I hurried along the process by educating myself and keeping in constant contact with the people that were set up to work with me. Just be sure you get all the information you need from your insurance company and keep motivated about the process.
  5. Walk it out while you still can. I had mine on Monday and it was all shoulder pain, no incision pain so I took advantage of being able to walk around my house a bit. Yesterday the incision pain started and last night it got really bad so I was down. Today I am sore in my tummy and in my shoulder but since it is getting better was finally able to sleep so I am taking advantage of that today. Tomorrow will be the day I try and go down my 3 flights if stairs and back up haha. Baby steps for sure. I may also make it a goal to not take any pain meds tomorrow. We will see!

  7. Good luck tomorrow! I had my surgery done yesterday. Everything went very smooth. Just think positively and you will be fine I am sure.
  8. Hi all! I am banded! Yesterday was great, check in was noon and surgey was at 2 and I left the hospital at 7. Not really any pain on any of the incisions yesterday but a lot of chest pain from the gas left behind. Didn't sleep well last night as I am not a good back sleeper. The abdomen pain did start today but not bad, feels more like I did a really massive workout yesterday. Focusing on walking as much as I can and drinking some Gatorade and having some Jello.
  9. Looks like I am the only crazyone taking off tons of time. I am having the surgery on 2/27 and I dont go back until 3/19. I work in a call center but it was more just my boss being nice and wanting to give me enough time to heal and adjust and come back feeling nice, new and rested.
  10. My surgeon set my overall goal at 66% of excess weight lost so my main goal now is 194. Then if i get there we can set another goal for a Normal weight which would be 155. I am supposed to set little goals for myself and my first goal is 240. I like having little goals but they don't mean much. My personal goal is to be a size where I feel good and I can go to regular stores for clothes.
  11. Hello February Bandsters! Congrats to all who have already had surgery and good luck to those that have it coming up. I am getting pretty excited out surgery ... Monday cant come fast enough. Lots of work this weekend to get all of my supplies and to get my house nice and clean so that I don't have too much to worry about while I am home recovering. I was super duper happy yesterday when the surgeon said I was down 6 lbs after week one of the Pre-Op diet even though I cheated over the weekend and renewed my motivation to do great this weekend. I am shooting for another 6 this week ... unlikely but a girl can dream. Anyways, that was my little tidbit for the day!!
  12. We are just past the middle of the month and it looks like it has been a lucky one for our February Bandsters. So crazy to think that after tonight I only have 1 work week left until surgery. The fact that my boss is letting me take 3 weeks off is great! Hopefully I can rest, recover and revive and come back to work feeling good.
  13. This Pre-Op Diet is rough. I am only on day 3 but having only 800-960 calories a day is rough, plus being off caffeine is leaving me with crazy headaches. I am trying to look at the bigger picture but it is pretty rough because I feel like I am lagging and I don't have much energy at all. Anyone have any good tips to keep me from going insane?
  14. I think that everyone has opinions on what is best and they all have their pros and cons. My Dr has me on the same types that your Dr suggested and the guy and the nutrition place thought they were very good choices. I just get mine from Wal Mart though. LOL I would just go with what your Dr says, he is the professional right? LOL
  15. Yay for us! Pre-Op diet started today! Its already pretty rough! LOL im excited though!
  16. So looks like I am scheduled for 2/27 instead of March. I am a February Bandster as it stands! Im super excited and a little scared but definately ready to roll!!
  17. Looks like I just went from a March Bandster to a February Bandster. My Dr just scheduled my surgery for February 27. Bittersweet feeling right now. It is great that it will be early than I originally planned but kinda scary that I dont have those few extra weeks to prepare. Anywho, hope all goes well for you all. I guess its time for me to move over the the Febryary side. Ill be back if anything happens to push my date!
  18. I will most likely have my official date tomorrow but sounds like either the first or second Monday in March. Fingers crossed!
  19. This is very intirational! I havent set my surgery date but it seems that it will likely be the first or second Monday in March. Hearing stories like yours helps to feel confident that I am making the right choice and feel like the new me is judt around the corner.
  20. I am so super excited. I talked to my Case Worker with my insurance's Bariatric Resource center today and she gave me the okay to have my surgeon call for a surgery date. She sees no reason why March will not work. I told my surgeon that I would prefer the first or second Monday in March so we will see what happens. I am so happy today that I am dancing in my desk at work. Pre-Op class is tomorrow and it would be amazing if they could tell me my date then. WoooHoooo March Bandsters!
  21. Just found out that I have pretty much the whole month of March available for time off at work so I am hoping for a speedy approval. It would be great if I could have the surgery the first Monday in March but I am not holding my breathe. The latest I can have it is the last week of March, otherwise I will have to wait until June do to scheduling at work. That would make me so sad. Still waiting on my Psych Eval. My surgeon got the results last Tuesday but the lady in the Behavioral Health department for my insurance company claims she hasn't gotten the multiple faxes. HAPPY THOUGHTS is all I got!
  22. I am starting the process as well! Just did my psych eval, waiting for it to get turned in for approval. Hoping to have surgery the week of March 12th I am in SLC, UT and my surgeon is Dr. Darrin Hansen.
  23. When I am at goal I would like to have my wedding dress altered to my new size and re-new my wedding vows in a fabulous celebration! Yup that is my goal. As with most others I would like to go to the beach in a great swimsuit and not be ashamed. HAHA maybe a beach photo shoot lol. I am just starting the journey though and I am sure I will come up with a crazy goal or two.
  24. I am hoping to be a March Bandster, my goal is to have the surgery on March 9 or 12. I have been working with my insurance and my insurance on the process. My insurance requires and BMI of 35 with co-morbidity or at least 40 without and I am about 42 so I have that down. They also require a psych evaluation which I did yesterday and he will send a copy to my insurance and surgeon by Tuesday. When my surgeon gets it he will send in the approval letter to my insurance. He is having me do the Pre Op class on 2/8 even though I don't have my surgery scheduled yet and I will start the pre op diet when I get back from Vegas the week of February 13. I am so excited for this and I hope it works out the way I want it to and from what my surgeon said it should. I have been doing everything that I can on my end to make the process nice and smooth and I am hoping my case worker will do the same. Tracie Steves
