After my miscarriage in April, I went from 195 lbs to 207 lbs in about a month. I hadn't changed my diet, but I stopped going to the gym per doctors orders. When I finally got the green light to go to the gym, I went ~3 times a week but the weight would not budge. Since getting our puppy 2 weeks ago, I am back in "one-derland" at 199. Only 4 lbs to go to my pre-miscarriage weight!

Has anyone gained weight after a miscarriage? I lost my baby on April 3, and since then, I have gained about 12 pounds. I have been watching my food and going to the gym, but the weight is not budging! It is very frustrating. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome!

Just to update: I lost the pregnancy in April. I am very devastated about it, but hopefully, I will be pregnant again soon.

So far, I have lost 3 lbs! But I am only at 5w2d.

Hi everyone. I am over 1 year post-op, and I just found out I'm pregnant! I still have not gone to see my gyn or sleeve doc, but I am already having food aversions. How much should I be eating each day? I am currently at ~1200 calories a day and maintaining my weight. I don't want to gain more than 25 lbs during pregnancy. Any advice would be appreciated!

My doctor said no pill for 30 days before/after due to risk of blood clot complications. Have you asked your doc of this is OK to do?
My doctor said the same thing.

Congratulations!!! I also made it to wonderland today (199.2) Celebrate yourself and your accomplishment because, as we all know, it is not easy losing weight even with the surgery. It is hard work, self discipline, sacrifice, and motivation all rolled into one, but remember it is to make your life better in the long run. Congratulations again!

After a few weeks of plateauing at 200-201, I have now finally made it to One-derland! It feels so good to see the scale reading start with a 1 again!!! I might be able to fit into the smaller dress (I bought 2 sizes just in case) for my sisters wedding next month!!! WOOHOO!!!

I just realized that I am now at my half way point to my goal. I can't believe that it has only been 3.5 months since my surgery. I am so proud of myself. I have been trying really hard, but I do slip every once in a while...and when I mean slip, I mean having a couple of chips or a sugar free cookie once in a while. I also started working out 2-3 times a week at the gym, plus some other stuff that I do on the weekends. It has been an incredible journey, and I am so glad I made the decision to change my life for the better.

I got my period 3 days after surgery. I dont remember the pain because I was still on pain meds which probably helped with the cramps. I do remember bleeding a lot. I was told not to go back on birth control until 30 days after my surgery. My next period was bad with cramps and bleeding. I am now on birth control. 2 weekends ago, I started spotting, but i was 2 weeks away from my period. I was supposed to start my period today but it has not happened. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them?

Since my surgery on Dec. 20, 2011, I have been losing 2-3 pounds a week for a total loss of 35 pounds. The past 2 weeks, I have lost only 1 pound a week and it is really discouraging compared to the past weeks. I started working with a personal trainer yesterday and will be going about 2 times a week. I am noticing that I have been hungrier than before, but I am not going crazy, staying around 1200 calories. I have also started eating a little bit of crackers and pita bread, but not a lot (3 crackers or 1/4 pita bread at a time). I don't know what else to to...I guess it was bound to happen, I was just hoping to have the 3 pound a week weight loss a little longer.

I was wondering how everyone deals with getting ill after having VSG surgery. I had strep throat last week and this week I have a cold. I do not feel like eating anything because my throat is hurting so much. I am drinking a ton of Water and tea. The only thing is, in the past I have always put honey in my tea when I was sick. Has anyone had issues with honey? What do you do when you get sick? I feel so miserable

I did not start loosing weight until I went back to work, 3 weeks after surgery. I also increased my Protein to about 80g a day, but staying between 600-1000 calories a day. Give that a try, Since going back to work on 1/9/12, I have lost 13 pounds.

I got a call from my doctor today, and I have low Iron and low Vitamin D. Does anyone else have this problem? I was told to just take multi-Vitamins and Calcium with Vitamin D, and i have been daily. I have not been taking Iron, Vitamin D on its own, or Vitamin B complex. What kind of Vitamins supplements are recommended?

Thanks everyone for your support. I did start with a lower BMI at 41, and now i am at 39.9. I have been eating between 600-800 calories a day, sometimes less, sometimes more. I have about 20g carbs a day, but around 60g Protein. I am following my doctors orders. I have not been released to go to the gym yet, but I have been going to the Zoo, Chuck E cheese with the nephews, shopping with my sister, and walking around the neighborhood. I cant wait to be able to go to the gym again. I also am starting work again today, and I am not sure I am ready to go back, but we will see what happens. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.

I had my VSG surgery on Dec. 20, 2011. I have not had any weight loss since the first week. How long does it take to start seeing any significant weight loss? I have only lost 12 pounds since the surgery (16 pounds since I started losing weight), but I was hoping for more. Is anyone else having this issue?

My Sleeve loves:
- Mashed bananas dipped in chocolate pudding which has been infused with Protein Powder (favorite food to date...tastes like chocolate dipped bananas)
- scrambled eggs
- cottage cheese
- chicken salad
- string cheese
- granny smith apple sauce (no sugar added)
- protein bars (the soft ones with no crunchies)
- hummus
- salmon
- milk
My Sleeve hates:
- Tuna salad
- regular apple sauce (no sugar added)
- Greek yogurt
Still eating mushies (surgery was on 12/20/2011) More solid food to come in a week or so...might have an updated list then.

I just had my VSG surgery on Dec. 20, 2011. I am just now starting the pureed foods. I was having a craving for dessert, so I decided to mash up a banana and dip it in chocolate pudding to which I added 15g of Protein Powder. It is just like having a chocolate dipped banana!!! Try it out!

I called the nurse again about the pain and she suggested getting one of the abdomen supports (http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/futuro-surgical-binder-and-abdomen-support/ID=prod4846-product). I have been using it since yesterday. It has made SUCH a huge difference. If you are having this pain, ask your doctor about getting one as well. I have not wanted any pain meds while using the brace.

I had my VSG surgery on Dec.20, 2011. I am now down 17 pounds since my surgery and I am very happy about that. What I am not happy with is the pain at the incision sites, especially the one next to where the drain thingie was. It hurts all the time especially in the transition between standing, sitting, and lying down. I called my doc about this and they told me it was normal. Does/did anyone else have this issue?

I have had some very difficult personal issues in the last 4 months, and now all I can think about is drinking a ton of Pepsi. I haven't touched soda in over 1.5 years. I know food is not the answer, but I am not getting the emotional support I need from my husband or family
