Hi Keysharenee1
Thank you for sharing, I find that this subject is controversial but important to know about as it is very real for many.
Can you let us know:
Do you find that marijuana works better than other options of pain medication? How about the side effects? Do you also find an increase in hunger with the use of marijuana?
It does work better than other pain meds. I have been prescribed everything from ibuprofen to oxycontin. I get real bad side effects with them. Medical marijuana (usually an Indica strain) helps literally numb my pain and relax my body long enough for me to go to sleep. Hunger can be a side effect based on the strain. It isn't with all of them.

Typo. Lol starting bmi****

I am a medical marijuana smoker. I use it for insomnia and chronic pain. It does work miracles. Since I am in the process of preparing for WLS I am gradually weaning myself off.

Yes you can. My cousin has the sleeve. Has had it for about a year and she smokes medical marijuana with no issue. Everyone is different though.

I wish you the best of luck. Was your Bmi 40 before you started? I was worried about that because my bmi was low so naturally I went under because we have to lose weight. I was told I would still be approved as long as my staying bmi met the criteria. CONGRATULATIONS on 2 years cancer free!!!!! I hope everything goes in your favor

You'll get into the swing of it. It took me 2 weeks. I'm on week 6. Half way through

I knew this was what I wanted after trying so many different things. I just finished week 4. My goal is 5lbs by the start of week 5. I've been doing okay but I want to do better. I have to push myself

I'm trying to prepare myself for the diet now before the official start next week. Meal times and portion.

I start my class next Monday at the Downey location. Real helpful and appreciated

Ahhhh ok. I have a few brands I can just drink without adding extras to it.

Where are you doing your class that starts March 2nd?
Kaiser Downey

@@Dualstarr kaiser has 12 weeks of classes. At least in riverside (ca) they do. Once the classes were over I had to wait for my referral to a contracted outside surgeon. I did start to worry between the referral and actual appt with the surgeon. And I will be honest I gained a few pounds between the end of class and my appt. Which they tell you not to, but luckily I got back on track and lost the few pounds I gained before my consultation. Once you get the consult it's pretty much a done deal. My consult was dec 9th and they offered me a surgery date jan 14th! But I picked the 28th of January instead.
My advice to you is to get your Vitamins and so on now and into a regular schedule of taking them. That way your labs and all that will be good to go. You will do great!
What Vitamins do we have to take? I actually have a Dr's appointment so I can pick them up at the pharmacy today!

My class starts March 2nd. Almost here

Haven't met with the surgeon yet. I was told that we don't start seeing the surgeon until we're towards the back end of the program

Thank you. The information is very much appreciated. I know that I have to go through the 12 week course.

Thank you. That helps a lot. I'm kind of nervous. Not too sure how long the whole process is

Hi everyone..... I made the decision that I would talk to my doctor about WLS. We talked about the gastric sleeve at my visit this past Thursday. She referred me to the options program offered at Kaiser- Downey and they called me the next day. I have orientation Wednesday. I have absolutely no clue what to expect and I would really appreciate some insight (if any is you would care to share) Especially if you went through Kaiser. Thanks

Other side effects (if you're not used to it) excessive giggles...which I had when I first began using it. You may be sleepy (depends on strain) happy, hungry (depends on strain), touchy, relaxed....you do get a high feeling. I suggest not driving
