  3. I have been having a lot of GI problems over the last several month or so. The pain became unbearable this week, so I went to my dr and she thinks it's due to artificial sweetners. As I think about my diet, much of what I eat has these sweeteners in them. I will do anything to avoid the pain and bloating caused by the artificial sweetener, so I am looking for ideas on how to revamp my diet. I could care less about eliminating most of it, but I think I'm really worried about Protein Shakes because they are my go to item. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  4. I had my last fill about 5 months ago and everything has been great until today. I woke up around 4 am because I was coughing. I noticed that I also felt like there were bubbles in my throat. About 5 minutes later, I threw up a small amount of clear Fluid (maybe acid??). Throughout the day I've had some Water, part of a smoothie, and a cheese stick, but something doesn't feel right. I don't really feel like it's going down...it seems like it's just sitting in my throat. Send there are still lots of bubbles.

I'm thinking things may be a little aggravated and I need to do liquids for a few days, but I don't want to make things worse by waiting too long. Has anyone else experience anything like this?

  7. I got a fill last Thursday (8 days ago) and followed my drs recommendation of liquids, then mushies. I had no problems the first few days. Monday I tried to go back to my normal foods, but can't seem to keep I down. It's so strange because things were fine over the weekend with the mushy foods. Anything I try to eat now seems to be getting stuck. I have a TON of slime--more tan I have ever seen! I've tried Protein Shakes and even frozen custard, but I've had trouble with both. Yesterday I was able to eat a bit of crockpot chicken for lunch and it stayed down, but no luck at dinner. I even struggle with Water.< /p>

  8. I was really worried about losing my hair, too. I took Biotin EVERY day and made sure I had the proper amount of Protein, but my hair still fell out. 3 months after surgery it started falling out by the handfuls and it is just now starting to slow down (it started falling out in March). It sucks, but there's not much we can do about it. At this point, I think I'm more worried about whether or not it will grow back. My doctor has reassured me the hair will come back, and probably be thicker than before.

Right now I'm just wearing my hair in a different style (that hides the fact that it's so thin) and as soon as it is stong enough, I plan on getting extensions. I'm just grateful we have options to mask it!

  9. Wow! That's an awesome story! I can so relate to what you went through. I have a best friend too...but the difference is we have logged many hours of spending time together. We have always had a great connection, but I've never been open to taking it to the next level )(and I know it's because I was closed off and afraid).

It's funny that you use the word asexual because I've called myself that for years. Recently, my friend and I had a conversation and he was vey open about how he's wanted more for a long time. I'm still not in a place where I can totally open myself up,, but I am working in it. I loved reading about your journey, because it gives me hope for myself.

Congratulations and good luck with everything!

  10. Unless your clothes are couture and you can sell them for a lot of money consignment give them to goodwill/salvation army. I found that 20% of my clothes really needed to go to the dump anyway.

Lol...I wouldn't go so far as to say that my stuff is couture, but it doesn't need to go in the trash either. :) I have a closet full of clothes that still have the tags on them, as well as things that I've only worn once or twice. I think I'll feel best if I know they are going to someone who really needs them...so donating them seems like my best bet. Thank you for your input!

  11. I'm wondering what others did with their clothes once the couldn't werthem anymore? I am moving out of the size I have been for a loooong time and have no idea what to do with them. Right now I have piles of clothes, all over my house, with no place to go. Storage tubs aren't even an option becuse i already have 8 in my basement with winter clothes in them (and most of that stuff I'll need to get rid of as well).

Honestly, I have invested a small fortune in my clothes and just can't bring myself to take them to a thrift store or some other place like that (in my experience, the people who need to be sopping there rarely benefit fom good deals and the people who can afford to go out and buy the stuff at regular price, "strike gold" and ****** I all up!). I hope this isn't coming off in a negative or selfish way...I have given trash bags full of clothes to people in the past because I knew they needed them, but this time around, I didn't know anyone like that.

I am so excited that my clothes are too big, but I guess in a way I'm more attached to them than I thought. Any suggestions you have would be grately appreciated.

  12. I've been taking a body sculpting class, where we do a lot of an work. I've been two times and the dy after is always rough. Obviously my abs are sore, but it is the inside of my tummy that I'm worried about. It hurts like I have a stomach bug or something (kind of like that soreness you feel after having the stomach flu). Has anyone else experienced this?

  13. That is the problem! When my husband checked me in he gave them my insurance card even tough the receptionist said that she wasn't sure if I even needed to check in caz sometimes dr smith takes care of it! So now that is was run under my insurance I'm screwed! If we would have just paid out of pocket it would have been half that!!! Ugh! I'm so pissed and don't know what to do <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />((

Excuse my language, but that is bullsh*t. I would call up there and raise some hell! Talk to someone in billing and tell them they messed up! You might have to get a little nasty with them, but it sounds like it ion them. If some people come in and get it for free and others get it for half the price, then they are not being constant with the way they bill!

  14. Oh that is awful! You may want to discuss a plan of action for any future emergency type visits, so you don't have any other bills like that. I'm a self pay person too and never thought about the possibility of anything like that happening. I guess we just aren't wired to think that way. I'm glad you were okay though!

I agree about not taking him to court -- you don't want to have any problems with your care for the next 12 months, especially since it has been paid for!!!

  15. I had mine over winter break, which gave me 2 weeks to recover. Then the first couple of days back were kidless -- I was able to take it slow on those days and ease my way back into things. I would take the rest of the week off for sure. Teaching is a lot of work and hard on our bodies! Hang in there, it will get better!

  16. I had surgery in December too and my hair has been coming out for about a month now. I don't have a lot of hair so I'm starting to get a little worried. It has slowed down, but the hair is still coming out. I'm trying to stay on top of my Protein I take and I've been taking Biotin since January. It makes me feel better to know I'm not alone, but I just wish I knew what was going to happen to my hair.

  17. I'm wondering if anyone else has any insight on this. I had surgery about 2 months ago and have lost 40 lbs. I knew that I wouldn't lose the weight in the same places I have in the past, but I'm noticing that I'm not losing much of anything in my stomach are (which is not at all normal for my usual weight loss pattern - that's usually one of the first places to shrink). I am starting to get self conscious about it because my stomach is not in its "normal" proportion with the rest of my body.

Did anyone else experience this? Does it ever balance out? I'm hoping the gym will help, but so far nothing.
