  1. Thanks everyone for your replys. I started on a NW medicine thar unfortunately makes the hunger signals iin your brain go off all theyime and slows your metabolism so that's why I've decided to get a fill...hopefully if I can eat less and not take in as many calories as I do just eating healthy it will help me get back to losing again..since the pill slows your metabolic rate down..eating less would Make it easier to lose. Right now I can eat a normal amount of food and had just been choosing healthy foods and that's how ive lost my wait so far..but since staring this medicine I think a fill is why I need in order to keep me under 1200 calories... I have to fight the hunger more than Ever now....I never thought medication could do that but apparently it can. But anyway I'm hoping from 2-3 ccs but what ever the doctor orders is what ill take lol. Thanks to evryone for your advice and input

  2. I'm having my first fill on Monday and I was wondering what was a good starting fill, how many Cc's? I am a a about five minths post op and have lost a good bit of weight but I can tell I need a fill. Also after a fill how long are you on liquids and before going for my fill is there any diet restrictions. I'm a little nnervous because I don't way to be overr filled and I don't want to be under filled..I just way everything to go smoothly. So anyone who can answer some of these questions wwould be greatly appreciated. Thanks, monica

  3. If you took me saying i did it without a fill personally...Then you misunderstood me. Me not getting the fill was to provbe to MYSELF that i could do it...what other people do is their bussiness and i have nothing against fills... so i dont know how that became personal but okay.

In regards to your other statement.. no my doctor doesnt put any fills in bands until five weeks post op that was one of my questions pre-op and he says he is different than alot of doctors and thinks it is better to wait.. so i do not have any fill. but like i said i was pointing fingers or saying that having a fill was un necessary or anything of the sort. I was just talking about my PERSONAL experience.. Im sorry if you were offended

  4. originally when i had the surgery my intentions were to get a fill. I mean whats the point of having the lapband if your not really using it right? Well when it came time to get the first fill..I didnt feel like i needed it and as time passed i realized that i was able to control my eating habits by will power and just making conscious decisions on what i put in my mouth. So at that point i guess i wanted to prove to myself that i could reach my goal without a fill. I wanted to prove to myself that i had the will power and determination to do this on my own. I know my way is most definetly not for everyone but..i guess its something i needed to do for me. :)

  5. I have been banded for about 3 1/2 months and i have lost 58 pounds without a fill and plan on losing the rest of my weight without a fill. I am just so excited! I can't believe im more than halfway to my goal weight. Only 35 more pounds to go! This for me has been about more than just a band, it has been a lifestyle/ mindset change. I am so proud to be able to post and say Im doing it and in 35 more pounds i will have gotten t goal! If i said it had been a peice of cake i would be lying, but it hasnt been extremely hard either. It has just been a CHANGE, something different and new to me. I have developed a lifestyle of fitness and healthy eating that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have learned new ways to think about food and how to eat healthy and still fill satisfied! My journey has been one of the most successful journeys i have ever taken and the decision to take it is one i will always be proud of! I have no regrets and can honestly say i am HAPPY with who i am and how i look for the first time in my whole life! I have confidence and a boldness that i never thought i would have! I have 35 pounds to go and will get to my goal! Im so glad to have this forum to help others as well as share my experiences with others who have been through the same thing!

Thank you all for your support. :)

  6. Well personally for me starvation mode exsist and has been proven in my journey..i dont have a fill.. but when i was eating 600-800 calories a day and worked out for 2 hours a day i might lose 2 pounds a week but normally more like one. So when i listened to every dieticion and trainer around me and finally upped my calorie intake to 1200, and continued to work out 2 hours a day (with weights and cardio) I started loosing anywhere from 4-6 pounds ever week and have been consistent in that since i upped my calories. So for me eating literally nothing and burning wayy more than i ate made me lose less. Eating 1200 calories a day and working out 5 days a week has made me lose more. Someone earlier asked how starvation mode exsisted since people are bulemic and anorexic. Well its like this.. anyone can starve themsleves and yes eventually lose weight.. but in the process you are not only burning fat..but you are burning muscle! your heart is a muscle...why do you think anorexic people pass out and look pale and like they are starving? Well its because they are..and in the long run it is terrible on your body and it can actually kill you. Being anorexic and starving yourself will kill you faster then being overweight. Also someone stated that dropping your calorie in take way low can get your body use to eating less, therefore if you ever eat more it will make you gain.. This is true. Thats one reason its not recommended to drop your calories below 1200 a day. In three in a half months i have lost 55 pounds (without a fill) at a daily caloric intake of 1200 calories with exercise. So yes for me upping my calories to the recommended amount worked wonders

  7. so basically i dont want to get a fill right now... im not going to get one unless i feel for some reason i need one... when i get to my goal i may have one for maintence.. i havent decided.. also without a fill i dont have to worry about a slip as easliy.. and i have tourette syndrome and for some reson it is acting up pretty bad and most of my tics are body tics that are constent movment of stomach muscles. soo thats reason number two.. but the main reason is i want o go back to mexico when i have it done and i want it to be done properly to where it last and not be having to go back and get it filled all the time to where my stomach the prob;lems described in that article

  8. You can always — always, always, always, force more food into your pouch. Imagine a long balloon when you first blow it up. The first few breaths take a lot of effort, but as soon as the balloon starts to stretch it becomes easier and easier to blow air into it. The stomach is a lot like a balloon. The larger and thinner the balloon becomes, in this case, the larger and thinner the stomach becomes — less muscular, less resistance there is less of a sensation of “fullness.” The stomach can stretch, and part of that is good, because in stretching a bit you send the brain a very subtle signal that it is satisfied. But if it keeps stretching, and keeps stretching then you can lose the effect of being satisfied with less, because the stomach will need more to fill that upper pouch up as more stomach is brought to the upper pouch. Like the balloon, you will be able to eat more and more and against a fixed Lap-band you risk dilation of the esophagus as well as a prolapse, or slip, of the stomach above the Lap-band to the point where the band is now around stomach that is thicker and thicker (in essence the food is serving as a pile driver — pulling stomach above the band and forcing the band further down the stomach).

That is advice from an article from a lapband surgeon
