Acid Reflux, (Help) How Long???
So, I am 5 weeks post op and just days after surgery I had developed really bad acid reflux. I didn't know what it was at first because I had white foamy stuff coming out of my mouth. My tongue was completely white and I was and am constantly thirsty, even though I drink well over 70 ounces of Water a day. I have been back and forth with this ever since. So, last week I went back to the surgeon's office where she was able to remove a tiny bit of air from my band (hoping this would help) NOOO, I still have white foam coming out of my mouth and the back of my throat feels funny, hard, like something is in there. She put me on Nexium and its been 2 weeks and still nothing. My tongue looks a lot better over the weeks, but I am still foaming. I spoke with my surgeon today and she told me to keep taking the nexium there is no reason for anyother testing because I am able to drink and eat with no problems. she said it does take time. I hear some people who have acid reflux before surgery, the band helps.. In my case, its considered a side effect because I never had acid reflux before (lucky me) My question, do you have acid reflux? did it happen after surgery? and how long before you felt relief or did it get better? I could use all the help I can,. I am even trying to do power of elimination here to see if its something I am eatting that triggers the acid, like dairy?. Thank you! -Patty

Dying Of Thirst
Dimples I was the same way, omg I can't tell you how many days went by I just drank drank drank.. I think I drank the mississippi river! I drank so much I made myself full for a few weeks because I couldn't get anything else in. I was able to get in chicken broth mixed with Protein powder so I would have some protein. I am doing a lot better with protein now, I am on mushy but deff. not making my quota. I wake up extremely full of thirst. Even after my meal I have to wait to drink and it drives me insane not to drink anything. I just keep myself busy, talk to someone, play games online. You are still healing, maybe even drink gatorade I swear by that stuff I drank a bottle a day...

Anyone Getting Banded In July?
Mushy stages are wonderful! you can really get creative with your foods (soft). I start solids next week, anxious and nervous at the same time. You are doing really great with your weight loss, keep up the great work

Post Op Day 2
It gets better each passing day/week and you will be able to take in more fluids. Just keep in mind to constantly hydrate yourself. Believe me it is part of the healing process. I practiacally lived on Water and gatorade for 2 weeks. I stopped the gatorade on my 3rd week because I was able to get down other fluids adding Protein powder to it. Best of luck on your progress and keep us all updated along the way

Anyone Getting Banded In July?
Hello July Bandsters! Hope everyone is doing really really well. I am now 4 weeks post-op, incisions are still healing but very nicely. Still on the mushy stages for another week.Getting in about 4 ounces of mushy foods down per meal. Drinking tons of water. I had to have air removed from my band as there was air trapped from surgery. I was so nervous, but the surgeon found my port in just seconds and didn't feel anything honestly, it was really nothing. Now , I am sure once I have a fill it will be just a little different adjusting to the band being a little tight. I am not exercising as much as I would like, really some days I have very little energy and some days a burst! As of right now I am satisfied with my portions, as I know this won't last.. Wishing you all great success! Looking forward to hearing from some of you

Shower After Surgery
I was told the next day, but because I was nervous to do this I waited only doing sponge baths at first. I have dermabond with steri strips that eventually fell off. When I did take my first shower I was just very careful NOT to scrub the incisions, I washed my entire body first and rinsed letting the water fall over my belly. I am 4 weeks post-op and my incisions are still healing, nicely I was told

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?
I know isn't it crazy how surgeons can be so different with their plans compared to others. LOL I am a little nervous, at the same time my band is completely empty as I just went to my surgeons office yesterday because I had trapped air in my band after surgery and she removed the air from the band. I don't go back for almost another 4-6 weeks. Next week is a family bbq I am making homemade potato salad, but I will put a little on the side and make mine 'lower' in fat. I am nervous about eatting a hot dog, but I will just remember to take very tiny small bites and chew till that baby is mush ..LOL Oh, and watermelon for dessert! ya have to let me know how you did on your solids when you are able to ...

Air Trapped In Band, After Surgery...
So, I have been having issues with 'fullness' and a foamy mouth for weeks. While I went to my surgeon 9 days after surgery I was told to wait 2 weeks to for the swelling to go down in my stomache and if not to come back. Well, nothing had changed, I would eat 2-4 ounces of mushy foods and get so full I couldn't eat more. I would drink a lot of Water, and was too full to even eat. My food tracker indicates I was getting in about 6-8 ounces of food a day (no snacks) and lots of water. At first the surgeon might of thought I was dehyrdated but we ruled that out because I am drinking more than 64 ounces of water a day. Could be 'acid reflux' and this is still in question. While my foamy mouth is still in question, The surgeon did remove air that was trapped in my band. It was painless and she found my port super fast (what a relief that was). I was numbed first, told to do a little sit up and then lay back down... waaaala! I will continue to take an acid blocker for another 2 weeks and hope I can get more food in. If I still foam I am going to my primary doctor to investigate if this could be a side effect from one of either one my medications I take. I really hope its not a bad case of acid reflux I never had this before the band...
