289 Lbs To Go. Is It Even Possible?!

Its possible for you to lose all that weight. I have lost 210 pounds so it is possible. and since you are young i would stay away from the bypass. my doctor performs the bypass , band and sleeve and he stated that he would rather me have the sleeve since i am younger. he states that the weight loss when compared to the sleeve and bypass is similair. he stated that it would be better to start with the sleeve since there is less Vitamin deficient problems and that if for some reason i wasn't successful that it could be converted to the bypass. im a year out and 210 down and have about 40 more pounds to go. It is possible i am living proof. If you have any questions you can always send me a message.
  6. The only regret that i have is that i didnt have it done sooner. 1 year post op and 210 pounds down overall, Best decision of my life. It hasnt been easy but my life has improved so much.

    Alcohol After Surgery

I dont know why but liquor tends to hit me a lot quicker after surgery. i think its because the liquor passes through to stomach quicker which lets it get absorbed into the blood through the intestines quicker. Before surgery i could drink a good amount and be cool. Now i got to take it slow.

  12. Well your gonna have to increase your protein and calories. if your body thinks that its getting starved than it will retain everything it can. You are not a failure , you only fail if you give up. This is a life long battle. You have to learn to listen to your body, it will tell you everything that you need to know. Stay strong and stay positive.

    It Takes Hard Work.....

The easy way out is doing nothing about your weight.. people think that getting 90 % of our stomach removed is a walk in the park. People who have never been obese will never understand what we go through. Dont let these people get you down. Most of these people are ignorant and cannot be helped.

    1 Year Post Op.

1 year ago today I was being rolled into the Operating room thinking that this is my last chance to change my life. This is the last chance I have to get healthy and make a change for the better. This is the last chance for me to for me to stop just existing and start living. Growing up I was always the largest kid. In high school I went from being a 5 foot 8 kid to being 6 foot 4 man wearing a size 15 shoe. In high school I was athletic and worked out daily. After high school my family moved to Atlanta so my sister could receive better treatment for her MS. During my time in Atlanta I started to gain weight .I was sedentary and but still eating like an athlete. My sister lost her battle with MS and it affected my family severely. I started eating and packing on pounds , and me working a call center job working second shift did not help. In early 2011 I started looking for a way to get healthy. At this point I had not been weighed in at least 3 years. I went to the doctor and stepped on the scale and it read 540 pounds. My mother started crying uncontrollably at the doctors office, she saw 540 pounds and then saw me in a grave next to my sister. That was the day I decided that I have to have WLS, I had did diets and lost weight but it always came back. I started my journey at 540 pounds with back and joint pain, High blood pressure, borderline diabetic, and un-diagnosed sleep apnea. I was able to get down to 490 the day of surgery. I am down to 330 pounds as of today with a total loss of 210 pounds. I still have about 40-50 pounds to go but I am more than happy with my results. My life has improved so much in the last year. Physically I am able to walk for 10 minutes without my back being in knots and my joints screaming in pain. I am able to get a full nights sleep and not wake up tired. No more high blood pressure, no more back or joint pain, no longer borderline diabetic. Mentally I have become a different person also. My outlook on life is positive. I have become a stronger person inside and out. I no longer let negative people or issues get me down. I was just diagnosed with MS October 15th. Usually this would get me down especially since my family has history with this disease( my deceased sister), but I just started living again, I will not let this control my future. I am not going to stop living until I am dead- and I am not dead yet. I will you leave you guys with a quote that I live by. Stay strong and stay positive everyone. Fear Of The Unknown

I am a year post op and my life and health has changed drastically. Will I like how the smaller me looks? - i haven't met anyone with the VST that has preferred looking obese to looking healthy. Will I lose friends along the way? I and many others have lost "friends". But these people were never truly "friends" Will I become obsessed with losing weight? You will become obsessed , but in a good way. you will start seeing success and wants to lose more. Will people treat me differently? yes, people will treat you differently. its sad but larger people are treated like crap. so the smaller you get the better the general public will treat you.

    Regrets

Im 1 year post op and i dont regret having the surgery. I didnt start feeling better until i was about 2 months out. Everyone goes through " buyers remorse ". 1 year out and the only regret i have now is not having this done sooner. Im not saying that having this surgery is easy, what i am saying is that it gets easier with time. Stay strong and stay positive. A few months from now you will look back and have a completely different outlook. Good luck !
