Keep busy. I go fishing on my day off from work. Sitting around watching tv is a thing of the past for me. Good luck!

I was 420 6' 0 ft.... Had my surgery on 12/14/11 .... at my check up last month I was down to 213. It is absolutely possible for larger people to succeed with the band! Good luck.

I have appointments once a month to check my progress and determine whether a fill is necessary.

I went to true results Houston in the medical center. I was banded on 12/14/11 by doctor hollis. They are great before the surgery and more importantly with the after care. I still go once a month to get checked out and filled up if necessary. If you have any questions just ask.

Like everyone else has suggested walking will help. I paced back and forth on my back patio once an hour for ten to fifteen minutes.

When I have to eat something between meals I opt for sugar free Jello or turkey Jerky. both are low calorie Snacks. Sometimes I think just chewing on the jerky for a while makes the hunger go away.

Would have done it when I was younger.

Whenever I'm tempted to eat something that I know will not help in my weight loss I remind myself that I let an almost complete stranger (credentials set aside for these purposes) stab me in the abdomen 5 times and wrap a piece of plastic around my stomach. I know it is crude and simplistic but it works for me.

Put away the scale. The only time I step on a scale is when I go in for my monthly adjustment. I know everyone is excited about being banded and to some degree want to check to see if the band is "working" for them. If you follow you doctors post op diet and exercise plan the band will work for you. Be honest and patient with yourself.

I was told no bananas during my pre op diet. If they gave you any written material regarding do's and don'ts I'd check it or call the doctors office.

During my pre op diet sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles saved me. Give those a try. I could have as much of those as I could stand along with 2 Protein Shakes and one meal of 4 oz. Protein 1/2 cup steamed veggies. I still have sugar free jello everyday and I'm 8 months post op.

Banded 12-15-11 14cc band. I have an appointment each month to see if i need a fill. I have 7 cc in my band and have lost 160 lbs. i agree with the poster talking about what type of foods you consume. I stick to a high Protein low carb low sugar diet. Once a week i allow myself "normal people food" to shock my system. during my pre op meeting with the surgeon that was his recommendation for a post op diet for maxium weight loss. It's not always easy, but it's working for me.

I wish i would have had my surgery when i was your age! Best decision i have made. Pre band 420lbs...7 months post op 259lbs. Good luck!

Does anyone happen to know how much "weight" history that cigna requires? And also when the insurance company does require a weight history' date=' are they looking for you to be the same exact weight for the entire history time? I mean many of us flucuate from time to time.Thanks![/quote']
I have cigna. I had to undergo a six month doctor supervised diet before they would cover the surgery. During that time i only lost 12lbs. Had my surgery on 12-15-11 and have dropped 160lbs. It's frustating, i know, but it was worth wait.
Dr. hollis' patients?
