Yoga
1st yoga class tonight and Ihope that I don’t look like a total fool. This has been a goal of mine for years and now that I have less weight and my joints don’t hurt I thought I’d try it. That being said, I am fearful of being the big woman in the class and the looks and whatnots, I guess I’ll just have to get over it. Thanks for letting me vent. I love this group!

5 Days Post Op I'm Effin Starving
I felt the same way, but it got better after I added the PPI to my routine and also SF Jello is good you and kind of chew it, I saw on some site the you can make Jello with chicken stock and I thought of doing it but never did instead I mixed unflavored unjury with chicken stock and it helped. Hang in there; it will get better... you are only 5 days out.

December 2011 Sleevers Update
I am doing well, I know I am down more than 30lbs but I don’t know exactly because I only weigh with my doctors, but I should know more after Friday because I have a visit then. I am down 2-3 sizes, I can get into most 20’s without much pulling and pinching. I am slowly working on the exercise. I started water aerobics this weekend and I will be doing yoga as well. I feel amazing like I am coming back to life again. My eating is going well during the week but on the weekends I find that there is too much down time for me to want to graze so I have to work on a plan to keep me in place, other than that I am thankful that I can’t over do it, and really happy with my sleeve.

Month Six And Feeling Very Emotional.. It's All Over The Place
No you are not alone at all, I hear you loud and clear, I have said this before and now I have to remind myself again that obesity is a complex disease and currently the world at large only treats it as a minor inconvenience or vanity. The only advice that can offer is that you allow yourself to feel the way that you do and to find someone that you can talk it over with. You have done something life changing and so all aspects of your life are changing now.

Frustrating!
I know that must be tough but I think that it’s important for me and you and everyone to remember that this is a personal journey and not to compare the awesome progress that you have mad to that of another person. I am guilty of this also but it’s not the way to go if you ask me. Feel proud and take time to notice all the small changes in your body. You will get to the point where you can buy new stuff for now work your sleeve and celebrate every small victory that you have made on this journey!

I Just Need To Vent...
That completely sucks about your boyfriend, but if you want to look on the brighter side(?) it is good practice to do something outside of food, my suggestion is try something that you always wanted to but didn’t. We will all struggle with finding a replacement for food, and so we might as well start now. Happy birthday!

My 1St Dinner Party And I Am Nervous.
I did really well, I had an appetizer of fried smoked oysters and caviar and 2 sips of champagne and 2 very small bites of cake this all took place over 4 hours and I had no issues at all. I nice social treat and I feel good about the choices I made. Thanks everyone for the support.

My 1St Dinner Party And I Am Nervous.
Thanks So Cal Kurt and MegInNOLA, all very helpful, I’ll let you both know what happens. I looked at the menu and they have small plate items listed so I’m not sure what that is, maybe something larger than an appetizer? You are right it’s about the celebration so I’ll enjoy the company and as for the people who don’t know you are right again I am proud of my sleeve so I can share if they ask.

My 1St Dinner Party And I Am Nervous.
I was sleeved 12/1/11 so I am 8 weeks out and I’m on regular foods. I haven’t done well with most refine cabs like rice and bread (I haven’t tried pasta but I want to hold off). I’m really concerned with drinking, I had a few sip of champagne for New years but outside of that no alcohol and I know that there will be drinking which isn’t usually a problem for me. I would like one drink, not to make it a habit but what if any should I consider.

Its Your Period Dummy!
I am 8 weeks out and I had a similar pain and I have spotting on and off even now but it is beginning to regulate. This is a major surgery so just take it day by day.

My 1St Dinner Party And I Am Nervous.
Today is my Mom’s birthday and she is having a party at a nice bistro, there are a few people who do not know about my surgery and a few others who do know that will be there, but I’m nervous about what to eat and drink any advice?

HELP, what's the difference between a 32 and 44 bougie?
Thank you I just had a moment there where I was thinking this was for nothing, and in actuality it is all about the same. I am very confident in my surgeon Kimberly Steele at Johns Hopkins, so I will not use the size of the stomach guideline as an excuse not to be successful. Thank you for helping me put this into perspective. You have done very well any tips?

How Different We Really Are
I use to be 5’9 but when I was weighed and measured pre-op I was 5’7. My highest was 303 and I was a 24-22, I am currently in a 20 women’s jeans that are a bit baggy I have a goal pair of jeans that are a regular 20 (Gap) with no stretch that I want to get in next month. My tops were 2 and 3X but I am now in xl. I currently only weigh in with my doctor, there are too many things that I need to focus on outside of the scale for now, but the last time I weighed in I was 260.

Observations
Obesity is a complex issue it’s not just the weight or food or the emotions it all of the above. You really have to tackle it at all levels. But I agree, now is not the time to settle, to make others happy but hopefully your relationship(s) will get stronger as you develop new outlooks on life. And if not drop the dead weight like all the other weight and keep it moving. Sometimes you have to move forward and the people that love you will fallow. PS Lissa looking good!

Using Straws
Itsanewdaycassandra replied to Itsanewdaycassandra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AWent to my 6 week fallow up and the PA said that if I wasn’t having any gas issues or pain or losing control of how much I was taking in with a straw then it would be OK for me to use them. Shea it looks like you are right this is one more of those you have to try it for yourself sleeve things to really know.

Who Are You?
This is a cool idea, I am a 43 year old happily married; mother of one 13 year old son stepmother to two, a 25 year old stepdaughter and an 18 year old stepson and I work as a clinical research coordinator. My life now I would say is full but happy, I could not always say this, and I believe that a lot of the reason why this was, was because I was unhappy with myself and felt trapped with my weight and it tinted the way I moved though life. I have been struggling on and off with my weight for the past 20 years not always obese but never really comfortable with food and weight…One of the best side effects post surgery was this will to feel better about me and my life and I feel freer in a lot of ways that I wasn’t anticipating. I dream of traveling the world and I have been to Africa, Mexico and the USVI (where my husband is from) but if I had to name a few places that I want to go to it would be London, Ethiopia, Egypt, Greece and Hawaii with my family. I am really excited to get to know who I am at this stage in my life. I feel like I am kind of girly, I love sparkly stuff and tinker bell and silly stuff of that nature but I am learning to garden and I kind of like the outdoors. I hope to go camping and hiking this summer. I love to swim and I think that I am supposed to live near a lake or Water because I enjoy it so much. I would also like to complete my degree, but traditional learning has never really excited me much so, we will see what takes shape.

I am 6 weeks out and I can eat an egg with a bit of shredded cheese for Breakfast at about 7:00 am and around 10:00 I start on my Protein shake about 16-20 oz made with
