  1. My last meal will be some awesome chicken enchiladas, with chips and homemade salsa, and TONS of margaritas! Hopefully my baker friend will also make some sweet treats
  2. My surgeon and NUT told me that the first week after surgery I didn't really need to worry about getting my protein. The 2nd week with full liquids is when I really start getting it in. Hope this helps!
  3. How fantastic! Good luck to both of you
  4. What fantastic results! I'm so proud of everything you have accomplished so far. Hopefully you're body will catch up with you and make the next 3 months much smoother. Keep us posted
  5. Thank you for sharing your story!! I can't wait to read more updates!
  6. I got my date last week! I'll be sleeved by Dr. Svendsen at Methodist Hospital in Minnesota on June 11th at 8 am! I'm so excited and a little nervous.
  7. When I met with my surgeon I asked if there was a "goal" weight. He stated their philosphy is not to set a goal weight, but to celebrate the success which is reached. I don't want to be controlled with the thought of getting to a certain weight and being overly frustrated by not meeting that. I have my ideal goals in my mind, but I have to say...anything will be better than my 51.3 starting BMI!!!
  8. I have decided to be very open with my surgery! It's opened up some very awesome conversations with friends and strangers. The VP of HR reached out to me because she heard I was having the surgery. She had a RNY 12 years ago and we talked quite a bit about it today. She said something that really stuck with me...as women we have to share our experiences and be the role models for those to come. There are so many people out there who don't have support...I can't wait to be like her in 12 years
  9. Great question....Can't wait to hear the responses.
  10. Awesome! I'm so happy for you
  11. I was just scheduled for June 11!!!!!!!! I start my pre-op diet on the 1st. Can't wait to join the looser's bench!
  12. I love Hungry Girl! I'm still pre-op...but would this be a good mushy meal?
  13. Fantastic!! Congratulations on all the wonderful weight loss. Keep it up
  14. Hello all! Last Friday I received my approval from Medica tor surgery...YAY!! Top news story this morning is that the support staff part of SEIU will be voting today and tomorrow if they will strike, and of course my hospital would be affected. I hope the strike is voted down or can be avoided...I just don't want to get a surgery date, do the pre-op diet and then have to reschedule because of a strike.
  15. I've really enjoyed his book too! I'm also reading Breaking Free From Emotional Eating and Health At Every Size. The last two aren't about WLS, but things that help just as much!
  16. Hello! Congratulations on a successful surgery Hopefully things will get easier as you go. I am still pre-op but my bariatric center recommends the Centrum chewable multivitamins. I get them at Target. Hope that helps
  17. Hello all! I just found this MN forum, I'm so glad someone started it Well, I will introduce myself. I'm Sara, 30 year old and from Brooklyn Park. I have been obese my whole life, I even remember shopping in plus sizes in middle school. As many of you have experienced, I've worked hard to lose weight in the past....but nothing has happened. I'm so thankful for this gift I've been given when my company changed insurances and finally started covering weight loss surgery. I started my journey in December by going to the Park Nicollet general information session. In January I hit the ground running! After 3 months of nutrition visits and 40 lbs, I was approved to day for surgery. I'll meet with Charles Svendson on 5/17/12 to set a date for surgery. It just started to hit me that this is REAL!! The nerves are starting to hit...but I know I'm doing the right thing. Can't wait to meet you all and share this wonderful journey. Peace be with you all!
  18. Hello Nicmack! Congratulations on the amazing weight loss Only better things will come. Keep us updated on your progress!!
  19. I will pray for a quick resolution of your denial! Keep us updated on your journey!!
  20. Congrats!!! We just submitted to insurance late last week...so hopefully it'll be approved quickly and I can get a June date as well!!!
  21. Hello all! I'm almost done with my 3 month supervised diet. Once that appointment is done, they will submit for pre-approval. From there I meet with the surgeon to set a date, the NUT to go over pre and post op diets, and my bariatrician for pre-op physical. I asked my nurse clinition today if I'll need an endoscopy before surgery, and she stated no. I just wanted to see what other people went through after completing their psych and NUT appts. Thank you all so much for your help!
  22. I'm so jealous of all of you!! My surgeon actually is doing the 2 week liquid diet to show it can be done and to get a better understanding of what he's asking his patients to do. Kind of cool Good luck to you all with your surgeries! I hope to get my date next month
  23. Ok ya'll....With part of my tax refunds I want to invest in either a BodyBugg or a HRM. Since I'm a few months away from surgery, I want to make the best decision I can that will help me the most after surgery. I know there will be continual expense with the bodybugg...is it work the cost?! I'm now down to the Polar FT4 or the bodybugg. Any help will be appreciated!
  24. Thank you for starting this blog! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
  25. As much as I hate this answer...my doctors encourage me to avoid alcohol for a year after surgery.
