  1. I watch it and I love it. I like how she views her body. I have PCOS too. I am not ashamed of my body HOWEVER I know I need to have this surgery to lose weight before my health starts to decline.
  2. She failed because of her anxiety. Her anxiety isn't under control by their standards so she failed.

    So worried

Try to get ahold of someone in the office. They may not have sent it in. I know my friend's kept getting bumped to the bottom for some reason and it finally took her going to the place and watching them fax it to her insurance to get them to do it. Some places also take longer if there's a lot of people going for it
  4. Okay so a little bit of history on me is I had a surgery date of August 3, 2012 to have gastric bypass but deep down inside I knew it wasn't right for me and my anxiety really kicked in. I originally wanted the Lap Band BUT the hospital that I was going to didn't do it anymore even though they were still advertising it. I canceled my surgery 3 days before hand. I then lost my grandma, gained some weight back and then 3 months to the day that my grandma passed, I found out I was pregnant with my son which was awesome because my husband and I had been trying for a second baby for 5 years. I have a little girl and a little boy (my son was a twin and I lost his twin at 7 weeks along). Now fast forward to last september! I weighed in at 330lbs. I have PCOS so I am insulin resistant and I'm on Metformin to help lower it. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist 2 days ago, I weighed in at 290lbs which I've been stuck at for 5 months now and she gave me 3 options. 1. keep doing what I've been doing (hasn't been working!!!). 2. Bariatric surgery 3. Go on a non-insulin injection that has been okayed by the FDA to be used for weight loss (I'm not diabetic.....YET) So I'm choosing Bariatric Surgery but I've been reading all the horrible things that can happen. My husband and I want 1-3 more kids. I'm 28 years old. How did you choose to go for the Sleeve instead of Gastric Bypass or Lap Band? I'm trying to decide because they hospital that will do Lap Band pretty much killed my grandma because they didn't know what they were doing. The hospital I trust will only do Gastric Bypass or Gastric Sleeve. This is my family...I want to live longer and healthier for them and for myself. The oldest girl is my step-daughter, the little girl is my daughter and then there's my son and husband and I. I need to be healthy for them along with myself.
  5. I'm just wondering how long it took ya'll for the whole process. I'm meaning from the first meeting until the day of surgery. I know with the program that I'm going through (I have health insurance that covers the surgery) that they said it could take 3-18 months depending on how fast you can get all of your testing done.

  7. I am in the process of going for surgery also. I have PCOS, under active thyroid and very overweight. I do have 2 kids (ages 7 1/2 and 1 1/2) BUT I've also suffered miscarriages and I miscarried my son's fraternal twin. I'm hoping to get pregnant afterwards. I've always struggled with it and I've been with my husband for 10 years. I ovulate 4 times a year if I'm lucky. My doctor told me that it's easier to get pregnant after you've had the surgery and lost a lot of weight. They also told me that once you get to your goal weight, your PCOS may even disappear

    Fed up

You go girl!!! I'm going for the sleeve and I know you have to remain on an eating plan HOWEVER I've already told my husband that if I want a small piece of cake at a birthday party, I will allow myself that. Everything is about limitations. People are on here for advice and I'm sorry they have been being nasty to you about it.
  9. Oh wow I have state health insurance so they get back to you right away. I'm hoping it only takes a few months. I guess I will just have to wait and see
  10. So by what everyone is saying, it took 1-4 months ???? that gives me some hope that I can get this process done in a timely manner so I can hopefully be sleeved before Christmas
  11. I have those requirements but they are already done lol I'm hoping to have my surgery by Christmas
  12. Oh wow that's fast. I have almost everything done so I'm hoping to have mine by Christmas

    I'm a newbi

I also just started the process but with my insurance I've pretty much already done all that my insurance wants so they said if all goes well I can get my surgery in September at the earliest. This process is well worth the wait ????

  21. So I keep getting asked why I'm having surgery. For one, the pics should say it all and those were taken today and I'm currently 282lbs. At my highest (September 2014) I was 330lbs. I have PCOS which makes it hard for me to lose weight unless I starve myself. I have 2 kids, a 7 1/2 year old daughter and a 1 1/2 year old son and also a 13 1/2 year old step daughter. I'm only 28 years old. I gained my weight when I was 12 due to my PCOS. I was thin weighing in at 110lbs. Within a year I was 286 without changing my eating habits. I need to be healthy for myself, my kids and my husband. I have massive anxiety about surgery BUT I need to have it done. I know part of my anxiety is because I will no longer be able to turn to food to help me deal with my problems . I'm ready to change my life for the better ????

    Why am I getting Sleeved?

I honestly can't wait I'm so excited. Friday I have my introduction meeting and then everything goes from there. They said they are pretty sure all my testing is done EXCEPT for the H-Pylori test which the state of VT demands you have done if you are going for gastric bypass or gastric sleeve. I am nervous BUT I'm getting more and more excited!!!

    Why am I getting Sleeved?

Well my doctor sort of told me to do it BECAUSE my husband and I want another baby. I struggle losing weight and the only way I've been able to get pregnant and stay pregnant was if I'm 250lbs or less. I have 2 children ages 7 1/2 and 1 1/2 plus a 13 1/2 year old step daughter. I have had 12 miscarriages and I miscarried my son's twin so they were fraternal twins. I'm also insulin resistant and diabetes runs HUGE in my family. There's also a lot of other stuff that runs in my family like heart disease, kidney failure and the list goes on. Pretty much it was going for Bariatric surgery or going on an insulin to help my insulin levels then that can cause me to become diabetic. I've wanted to do surgery which I had the bypass approved in 2012 but didn't feel comfortable doing it so I backed out. NOW I'm definitely going for surgery. I have to get healthy. I'm sick of the whole "why don't you lose it the natural way?" OBVIOUSLY IT HASN'T BEEN WORKING!!! I'm so sick of people saying we are taking the easy way out. How is having you cut open, most of your stomach removed, the pain, being nauseas and going through all the hassle the easy way out!?! I have 2 friends that are also going for the Gastric Sleeve at the same time as me so we are all excited

25, mom of 2 and sleeving soon

Hey welcome! And good luck on the journey. Did you have to do supervised weight management? Yes I've had 8 within the last year and I only needed 3 and all testing has also been done. Pretty much I just need to have the meetings at the hospital and meet my surgeon
