    Eating Too Much

Hey itray are you getting enough protein? Maybe if you up the protein in your diet you'll feel fuller.
  2. Sandy - have you spoken to your doctor about this at all? You may want to get a second opinion from another surgeon. You shouldn't be miserable. It sounds like there was a mistake made. I hope you find the answers you need

    Getting Banded Monday 1/9/2012!

Thinking about you today and saying a prayer for you!!
  4. I have PCOS which is something that could really affect fertility for me. It's weight related so I knew I was going to have a hard time getting pregnant. My husband and I decided to try right away after getting married because it would probably take a while. So 1 week after we returned from our honeymoon, I was sitting in the waiting room of my husband's oral surgeon at Duke University Hospital. I needed to get some work done, but couldn't get on the wi-fi. After trying 800 times I gave up, put my computer away and picked up the magazine sitting next to me. The cover story was about overweight women and pregnancy. It talked about PCOS and even if overweight women can get pregnant, how much stress and risk it puts on the fetus. later in the article it talked about women who have undergone lap band surgery have been able to reverse so many of those issues and/or actually conceive. At that point in my life I have tried and done every weight loss avenue that has been available. I've lost 30 lbs... and then for some reason I lose all hope and gain everything plus some back. A week later we went to an informational session at Duke and another hospital. We decided to do this as a team because we both had over 100 lbs to lose. On Dec 19, 2011 we were banded one right after the other and we've been losing weight ever since. My husband is my best friend and we're so happy to be changing our lives together for the good.

    Frustration

Hey Shakey88! Remember me? Remember how I told you that you were my inspiration? Well I just got on this site and for some reason I felt like looking you up to see how your weight loss was going and I saw this. I know we all have those annoying little downs and disappointments, but I wanted to remind you that you've lost 95.3 lbs in less than 6 months!!! Hang in there! You are light years ahead of a lot of other people, so don't let a measly .4 lbs get you down. You're still my inspiration and every time I want to get off the treadmill a few minutes early, I think of how I could be 95 lbs less by June if I keep going. Keep your head up Lots of Love!

    Protein Drinks Or Snacks

Hi!! I drink Protein shakes for breakfast every morning and I was getting sick of chocolate. I just found this Protein Powder called nectar and it is really delicious. They have crazy flavors. I started off by buying the variety pack - here'a link to an article i wrote about it on my blog - http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2012/01/special-delivery.html. I had the strawberry mousse today. It was awesome. (BTW nobody is paying me to write about them ... haha maybe one day... but it's all my own real opinions) I have been writing a lot lately about different Protein drinks so check that out as well. My husband and I are almost 3 weeks post op and he's lost 36 lbs and I've lost 27! We're so happy with the surgery!

    Getting Banded Monday 1/9/2012!

Hey guys! I'm sending my prayers your way for fast and safe surgeries! Of course everyone is different, but my husband I were banded less than 3 weeks ago. We've been up and walking since after the surgery. Slow around the house at first, but since a week out, I've been trying to walk a mile or two .. or three a day. So far, my husband has lost 36 lbs and I have lost 27!!!!! The biggest tip i can give you is no matter what, get your Protein in. Even if you get a little more get it in! At the two week mark we've been moved onto the soft foods so we've been eating chicken, tuna fish, slow cooker pork, baked fish, we had bison burgers (no bun) tonight. Greek yogurt is also great. You'll be able to eat good, you will just eat a lot less! Best of Luck!!

    New To Website

Hey Guys! I was banded on 12/19 - I love this site and love hearing everyone's tips <3 Here's to getting skinny & healthy!!!
  16. I have PCOS and it is one of the biggest reasons I decided to move forward with lap band surgery. My husband and I would like to start trying about a year from now (we were both banded on 12/19) If you've experienced getting pregnant after a band, what was your experience like? Did you still have a lot of fertility problems? I'm just curious for any information. I really appreciate it!
  17. Thanks ladies!! We are definitely waiting a year or longer. Our surgeon said to wait at least a year. He explained it's not the end of the world if I were to get pregnant this year, but I would automatically be a high risk pregnancy because there is so much going on. I'm totally ok with waiting. I'm not in a rush, I just wanted to hear some good success stories for inspiration.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

I feel great too! 10 days post op I walked 2 miles today and have lost 21 lbs. I'm slowly but surely changing my life and behavior and I'm really looking forward to this journey. I am so grateful for the support from this forum and from my blog followers, it feels so good to have people out there who know exactly what I'm going through. I go to the nutritionist tomorrow for my first post op appt. Can't wait to share my success with her!
  19. I posted another recipe today for delicious mexican mushies! http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2011/12/mushies-mexican-mush.html
  20. Thanks everyone!! This forum has been so helpful to us. We have a long way to go but we might as well celebrate along the way
  21. Hi!! check out my blog. I'm in the mushies stage right now as well and I'm blogging every recipe that I come up with! I have a recipes tab you can click on www.happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com
  22. I didn't have any co morbitities, but my husband had 2. I think my BMI was 48 or something like that. I was approved first and the insurance company gave him all kinds of grief. But he was finally approved and we had surgery on the same day. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I feel like insurance is just a game, whoever reads the file that day makes random decisions with no rhyme or reason.
  23. Hi! I was just banded a little over a week ago and I've been blogging about it, check it out the link is in my signature. I found so many great stories from blogs and really found a lot of inspiration before surgery from others, so I wanted to pay it forward. Feel free to message me I can tell you what My husband and I have done and what has worked and not worked for us!! Best of Luck! I'm so happy with my experience so far

  25. My husband and I did it together too! We were banded on 12/19 he's lost 25 and I've lost 20! Sandybraman - I've only been banded for just over a week. We are the same way. I love to cook and I love to eat, I'm always thinking about it. After being banded giving it up is different. Here are some revelations that I've had this week that might help you - I love to cook, and I still can, I will just cook great healthy meals in smaller portions. I read all these blogs were the women make all of these amazing meals and sweets and they're all skinny. WTF? I can do that. The band is going to give me that control. - Before the band I ate whatever i wanted whenever i wanted all the time. Now, There's only so much room. If I over eat, I run the risk of hurting myself and possibly having to get the band off, or go on a super strict liquid diet. If I don't eat enough Protein, I could lose my hair. My husband and I were talking about what it will be like going to restaurants in the future and I said, honestly it's the same. Pre-band we went to a restaurant and scarfed down entire meals in 10 or 15 minutes. Well now when we go to a restaurant we'll eat slower and less. So what difference does it make? We'll be sitting there eating smaller bites for longer period of time. We'll have more time to talk and enjoy eachother. I hope this helps and I hope you have an easy successful surgery!
