    Calorie Counting??

Sick. I used to live with a dietitian. Most annoying roomate I ever had in my life. She ate straight up garbage all day everyday and couldn't stand that fat people didn't really give a **** what she said. She would normally complain to me about her patients while eating a giant burrito. ha. man i couldn't stand her. The dietitian my husband and I work with is great though, She just told us to stick to around 800 cals a day and get 50-80 grams of Protein.

    Need Greek Yogurt Suggestions

It takes a while to get used to. I would always put a tablespoon of Syntrax Nectar protein powder in my Fage 2%. Syntrax Nectar is seriously the most amazing protein powder I have had. cheapest place to buy it is mybariatricpantry.com (no they don't pay me... wish they did so I could have every damn flavor!)

Want To Be A Buddy/ Mentor

Hey y'all - I find so much support and inspiration from a group of banded women who blog. We all put our successes and struggles out there and talk to eachother about it. Here are some links to some of my favorite blogs: http://www.andreasweightlossjourney.com/ http://bandedintheburgh.blogspot.com/ http://bandedwithfavor.blogspot.com/ http://jazzingupjackie.blogspot.com/ http://justawallflower83.blogspot.com/ http://lalaloses.blogspot.com/ http://rockbandbarbie.blogspot.com/ http://steffeelew.blogspot.com/ http://jennxaz-talesfromanarizonalapbander.blogspot.com/ http://saucybandster.blogspot.com/ http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ And my blog is in my signature. There are a ton more bloggers out there that I read often, I just wanted to give a sampling of what's on my reading list. I can't even begin to explain how wonderful it is having this group of people to talk to. I've been to support groups put on by my surgeon and what I get from that pales in comparison to what I get out of the friendships I've made with these women!
  4. It happens to me at every. single. fill! My doctor is really good about it though and it's not too big of a deal. We just talk to eachother the whole time and I sit or lay down with the needle poking out of me before I pass out!

    Soda Questions

I don't remember where I read this and I keep forgetting to ask my doctor, but I recently read that soda might actually be a cause of band erosion. I will write it down and ask my dietician the next time I see her and post if I hear anything. It scared me enough not to even mess with it though!

    Daily Caloric Intake

I've had the same concerns. The last time I met with my dietician she said to stick around 800, But I vary between 700 and 1200. I try to eat a different amount of calories every day and it seems to be working great.
  7. If you have, did you go through a body scanner? What happened if you did?

I love the low carb slim fast shakes as well! The first few days after surgery we actually added protein powder to our slim fast shakes so we could get all of our protein in. My husband and I did this together as well. We are 7 weeks post op, I've lost 41 and he's lost close to 60. I think doing it together makes it so much easier. Good luck to both of you.

    Just Got My Surgery Date!

Congrats!! Surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm almost 7 weeks post op and have lost 41 lbs!! YAY! please let me know if you have any questions. I love these forums and I keep up with tons of blogs. It helps you understand the whole picture, not just what the dr tells you!

    Hello!

Hi Charity! I am not actually pregnant. I was just banded 2 weeks ago, but one of the main reasons that I wanted to undergo the surgery was to get rid of PCOS and get pregnant. If you don't mind I'd just like to follow along and hear what members have to say once the group gets going! Donna
  11. Hey Y'all! I just saw Chick Fil A featured on the news because they are offering healthier kids meal options and they seem to be perfect for bandsters. I just wrote about a blog about it ... so rather than retyping it all again... here's the link: http://happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com/2012/01/fast-foods-for-bandsters.html

    Dont Judge/what Do I Eat?

Hey Crystal - I have lots of tips and recipes ideas on my blog. There's a tab for recipes, here's the link happilyafterlapband.blogspot.com
  13. I feel like people who are not mentally ready for surgery talk a ton of trash about it. I've read a lot of negative posts because I wanted to see everything before I jumped in. It seems like the people who complain a lot also talk about breaking a lot of rules. I think it's easy if you follow directions. I've had my band for almost 5 weeks and in the past 2 days I've started feeling a little hungrier and I've been able to eat a little more than I'm supposed to. (but let me be very honest here, even though I've been eating "a little more" I'm still tracking less than 1,000 calories a day) I've had to use a little will power this week more for head hunger than real hunger. I go in for an adjustment next tuesday. Our doctor said we HAVE to make a point to come in once a month for check ups for 1 year because the people who do that are the most successful. It is just a tool and you have to keep after it. In the past 5 weeks I have lost 33 lbs and my husband has lost 45!!!! If you want the lap band, and feel like you are willing to change how you look at and eat food, I highly reccomend it. Just follow the directions that you are given, get in your Protein, exercise will power and walk. Check out my blog if you want to see some the things I've struggled with and have been successful with. I'm just trying to track everything as it happens to hopefully help anyone else who is considering it!
  14. I just asked my dr about this same thing this week. I thought her answer was actually pretty interesting. (just like karewpah said) fluids redistribute when you sleep. But not just in your body. The Fluid in your band is constantly traveling around your pouch and down into the catheter down to your port. The fluid doesn't just sit in your band. so when you sleep gravity naturally make the fluid rest in the band. The tight feeling is there, but as you get up and move and the saline starts moving the tightness subsides. I thought that was pretty interesting becuase I never thought about the fluid moving around.
  15. Ive been the same way!! I am scheduled for my first adjustment next week! Was yours done with a fluroscope?

    Does Anyone Use A Fitbit?

What is your experience with a fitbit? Is there anyone out there that uses it in conjunction with myfitnesspal.com? If so what are your thoughts?

    Does Anyone Use A Fitbit?

Thank you! you did answer my question. I really love MFP and I'm logging my indoor exersizes on it. But when I walk outside I used endomondo for the iphone to track my speed and distance .. My husband and I are going to Disney World in February and I mentioned that we need something to track our distance there because I can't leave the GPS on my phone on all day with out plugging it in. We started looking at pedometers and that's when I saw the ad for fitbit on MFP. I don't mind logging the data in MFP until they get the integration up and running. I think you all have me sold on this fitbit though!! Thank you so much for all the feedback!

    Does Anyone Use A Fitbit?

So what does the fitbit tell MFP? When I read the ad i felt like the excersize and calories burned automatically uploaded to MFP from the fitbit. Did i read it wrong?

have you guys ever tried Syntrax nectar Protein powder? The only place to buy it is mybariatricpantry.com (it's the cheapest) and that Protein Powder is ahhhmazing I love chocolate truffle, Vanilla Bean Torte, strawberry Mousse, and Roadside Lemonade
  22. Hi! My husband and I were banded on Dec 19, 2011. In just over 3 weeks I have lost 29 lbs and My husband has lost close to 40. 1 week after the surgery I started walking 1-4 miles a day. We're not allowed to do anything other than that right now. But I can't wait to start hitting the gym harder My husband on the other hand doesn't work out as much as I do, but his resting metabolism rate is ridiculous ... I think it was 2,800 or something like that. So he's really doing well. A whole bunch came off in the first week or two and now my weight loss has slowed down to about 2-3 lbs a week.
  23. Call your doctor for sure!! Maybe ask if they can give you anti nausaea pills that you can take with the pain meds. Our surgeon gave us oxycodone and an anti nausea pill to take. That might help with the overall bad feelings.
