  1. Aww thanks... You guys are making me feel so much better!!????????
  2. Yeah she really doesn't understand that. I know a couple of people who have lost 100+ lbs through diet and exercise ( they also don't want me to have the surgery) but I don't know how long they'll keep it off and they have all the resources to devote time and money solely for wl ... I spend the majority of my time in class or at work. I thought that she would be happy for me because this will drastically change my life forever.
  3. Lol it's funny you say that because I said something like that to her. Which one would I prefer? Lol I would prefer to lose the weight. And it's more about health to me, I'm 21 with issues that I shouldn't have. I'm already saving for a lift lol.
  4. So my friend doesn't want me to get this surgery ( note, she is extremely thin and has never nor will she ever know what it's like to be obese) she thinks that if I just work out like a maniac I'll lose all the weight I need to lose... I'm over three hundred pounds at 5'10 and she tells me that I don't even look "that big". Anyway, we were talking the other day and she was asking me about how my body would look after rapid weight loss. At first, she told me that I would look aged after I get the surgery. I'm 21 and just yesterday somebody asked me if I was my 18 y/o brother's mom. Then she asked me about loose skin which is something that I always worry about in the back of my mind. Then she asked me about saggy/small boobs. I am in a size h bra right now and I love my boobs. I'm surprised that they are not already saggy which is something I'm proud of Lol. So my question is 1. How do I shut her the hell up? She's my best friend but she'll never understand what it's like being so depressingly overweight. And 2. Does anybody have any issue with loose skin and or drooping breast that were once perky? My mom says the bigger they are the harder they fall lol. I want advice on how to keep it tight and if I can't do it I would like to know some experiences with body lift surgery. Thank you
  5. Yeah I don't think we're allowed to have any type of nicotine in our systems so the only choice is cold turkey... Which sucks because I think a patch would do me pretty good right about now lol
  6. Thanks for the advice... I've gone like a whole day without a cigarette and my eating habits are getting better ... Thanks for the advice!!
  7. So my nut class is next Friday... And then after that is the psych eval... Everything is moving smoothly ... I've been working out daily and I feel stronger and healthier by the day. My main problems are 1. I am having a shitty time trying to quit smoking... My surgery date is exactly three months after my last cigarette an every day that I smoke is another day that I have to wait to get my surgery 2. I am sooooo greedy. I forget how much I I love food and at odd hours of the day. I have to lose 20 lbs in three months and at first it sounded easy but I'm realizing how difficult it will be
  8. Lol of my bf lost 40lbs he'd disappear ... My brother always tells me that we look like the number 10 when we walk down the street together
  9. Lol I think I might take my measurements in private and in a very secret location lol... And. I know not to take wl advice from skinny people just as I don't take relationship advice from people who are never in relationships lol
  10. Yeah I'm pre-op now... And I'm scared to take my measurements... And the worse thing is that I have my bf and friends hyping me up making me think that I look ok... And when I told them about the surgery they tell me that I don't need it .. I can diet and exercise (both are extremely thin) but I have been dieting and exercising for years and the weight just comes back... I can't wait for then to see me after I lose weight so they'll finally realize how big I truly am
  11. This is also why I'm constantly taking pictures of myself ... Other people think that I do it because I'm cocky but I really do it to show myself what I really look like... If I get a lil too cocky I take a picture and get back focused on losing weight... It's like when I sing and think I sound great but then I record myself and realize that I sound like dying cats loo
  12. Lol omg I really thought that I was the only one who did this lmao... I've skated by on a nice figure... I have a nice shape that I know to be true because I see in even in the pictures but at the end of the day I'm 300+ lbs and that's an issue... I feel like no matter what I do I'll always be pretty and sexy but I really need to get this weight off because diabetes isn't sexy at all
  13. Wow you guys have to wait six months?? I only have to wait three because I was a smoker and you have to wait three months after your last cigarette to get the surgery... My doctor put my date exactly 3 months after my last cigarette and told me to lose 20 lbs by then
  14. Hey, I'm 21 5'10 315 and my surgery date is October 15... I have to lose 20 pounds by then but I am extremely excited... Like I think about it everyday lol
  15. So ... I went to my orientation today, and the doctor that I spoke with basically told me to not get the lap band because it does not work. These were his exact words. He said its a waste of time and that they should really stop offering it. This was of course devastating to me. This left me with only 2 options, gastric bypass or the gastric sleeve. He also told me that success is minimal in people my age who get these surgeries. I was also sad to find out that I would never, ever be able to drink again ( I just turned 21 3 weeks ago). Idk if im still going to go through with it. I also dont know how im gonna be able to lose 100+ lbs. =(
  16. I'm so excited to start this journey. I have been overweight my entire life. It has never really been a problem. I guess you can say it all started when I went to college. I started being able to go out for the first time and I must say the options of clothing for "big girls" is depressing lol. All of my friends were skinny but that never really bothered me. The "problem" started after I lost a bunch of weight. I started to become more confident in myself. I was still big but I felt big and sexy lol. Then I came home and started eating everything that wasn't nailed down. I wasn't in school and I wasn't working so I would just sit at home all day and do nothing but get bigger and bigger. I thought that I would use my time to work out to try to lose more weight. well, that just ended with me gaining more weight. Before I knew it, I was 300 pounds. I would look in the mirror and not feel like a 300 pound woman. I felt sexy but I still understood that I needed to lose weight. One day I was at the bus stop and this random lady was telling me how she was going to get the lap band surgery. She told me everything about it and the next week I went to my doctor and asked if I could get it. He gave me a referral and now I'm going to orientation in 2 days. I'm so excited. The more that I think about it The happier that I get. I know I'm young, but I do not want to spend another day being obese. I don't want any health problems. I just found out I have pcos. This was devastating. I want to be not only a new me but a healthy me. So going forward I'm going to work my ass off (literally) getting this pre-op weight off so that I can start my new life as a healthier, happier me =)
  17. exactly ! I want to be healthy but health is also a matter of feeling beautiful. I feel beautiful now, I just know that I need to lose weight. I don't want any health problems associated with obesity. I would rather get this handled before its out of control.... but no matter what I think I'll be sexy... it was just a concern... thank you all for your replies
  18. Wow all these stories are really inspiring!! Thanks guys
  19. That's my goal too lol... I was actually shooting for 190 just to finally be in the 100s lol... Be sure to let me know how your curves work out when you hit goal
  20. So my question is for people who have already been banded. If you have a hourglass shape will losing the weight make you lose your curvy shape?
  21. Omg I thought I was the only one lol... Like I have this unrealistic vision of myself in the future... Like I like my shape now... I just want smaller proportions (sp?) . I'm hoping lap band and exercise can accomplish that... I'm scared about scarring from surgery but what could be worse than. Stretch marks lol.... And I don't have a husband to tell me I'm hot... I have to tell myself that like everyday lol.... I'm sure you'll be hot too
  22. I'm eager to hear some stories... I realized that I needed the band after accidentally losing 39 pounds (college starvation... Definitely not recommended). After starving I came home from school and really fell deep in love with food. I also wanted to lose more weight. A year after deciding to lose weight I gained 70 pounds... I passed the 300 mark and my plus size curves were no longer sexy and I couldn't work it off for the life of me. I was depressed and I was talking to some random lady at the bus stop and she told me about the lap band and like a week later I talked to my doctor... Now I'm getting ready for orientation next week!.... Any other stories ?
  23. I'm hoping that age is on my side too lol... But if its out of my control I might as well save for the surgery. Thanks for the replies!
