  1. I think your right. I'm almost 4 weeks post op @ feel sluggish. I'm eating mostly all protein but just don't feel all that great. I think I'm going to do the same. Thanks
  2. Congrats. Your journey is now beginning.
  3. I had a pancake today. Only could eat 1/2 & it was fine. Soft foods are fine for me. Beef is horrible. Just not tender enough. The best advice I got before surgery was get a heating pad & I'm glad I did.
  4. Thanks tmf...doing my fitness pal setting now. The funny thing is I wasn't hungry I was just eating a little all damn day. It's my brain not my band. Just wanted to recognize it out loud. No denial here. Full disclosure for myself.
  5. I've been eating regular food for 2 weeks. I know what to eat & just had a bad weekend. I think saying I was eating but didn't feel hungry means it's all in my mind. Im ommitted to admitting the good days & bad. I measure my food & eat no more than 1cup. This weekend was a challenge that's all. I'm in it for the long haul. Thanks for the fitness pal tip. I think mine is set to cups.
  6. Oz & calories are different. They did give me the oz rule but not sure how many calories it equals. I do measure by oz when home but I don't carry a scale around with me. Guess I'm not in banister hell yet so don't know what that is like.
  7. I was banded on may 31st. I was the 1st surgery 1st thing in the am. Mine went really good. I felt fine except for being a little sleepy from surgery. By 5 I was feeling fine. I just felt really tight not really pain. I took pain pills for 2 nights & the ibuprofen was all I needed. The biggest problem for me was the gas pain from the air they put in your body for the procedure. That lasted about a week but was super uncomfortable. Walking & a heating pad was essential. I've been able to eat most things in moderation. Beef & rice are the exception. They dont sit well. Since Chinese food is mostly rice I've stayed away from that. I eat alot of Mexican food, mostly bean/cheese burrito & chicken quesadilla. Very small portions always need a box. You'll know what to eat as time goes on. Take it slow. Congratulations. You'll do great.
  8. I Promised I would post the good & day. Yesterday & today hadn't been so good. 3 weeks post op & my body feels good but my mind is in I'm hungry mode. It feels like I've been eating non-stop. Some of it is real hunger & some of it is just my mind. I don't think I've allowed myself to feel hungry at all this weekend. I was craving chocolate so i bought some choc covered raisins. I thought that was a better choice. The bag is empty as of tonight. Yep! So I'm just gonna put it out there & keep it movin. Honesty with myself is the best policy. I tried tracking my food but it's really hard for me b/c I'm not quite sure how much I'm eating. I might have 2 bits of meat. No clue how to track that...I'm also not sure how many calories I should eat. My doc said to eat until I'm comfortable & stop. He didn't want to complicate the process so advised to work on making the band my friend & not count calories So the last 2 days have been a eating fest. Small portions but non-stop fullness. So that's my bad 3 weeks post op... Hope everyone is doing well
  9. Thanks for sharing everyone.I haven't had a fill yet & I'm not sure if I want one. Although I would love to lose quickly I know it's not the best way. I also don't ever want to have food stuck.i think I'll only get a little fill & go from there. You make a good point to let your body do the work. Even though we all want it now. I'm encouraged to keep moving even if it's only 1 pound a week. Keep up the good work everyone.
  10. That's great Judy & good to hear. So many want to be super tight & lose fast but I'm on with slow. I don't want to become addicted to the scale so I'm happy with my frame of thinking. It will pay off. Glad to know others are ok with slow too. Happy the weight is coming off for you.
  11. That's true. Didn't think about gaining:). It will take me a min to lose my 50 but I'm up for it. Thanks:)
  12. I'm 3weeks today & 9 lbs down. So many people are losing huge numbers but after talking to the dietician I realize it's a good 9 pounds. I've been on regular food with no fill for 2 weeks so I'm happy. Slow & steady. Hope everyone is doing well.
  13. I had a TT & to be honest, it hurt but was one of the best things I ever did. The tightening of the stomach muscle hurt & I was on pain meds for about 2 weeks. I didn't feel decent until about 4 weeks out & I hated the drains...my surgeon was awesome. Scar care was also very important to me as a black women our scars tend to be dark. I took alot of care to not over do it & I protected my scar with protective scar silicone for months afterwords. My LapBand was nothing compared to my TT but worth it. It's worth it.
  14. Tomorrow will be my 3rd week post op & I had been feeling great. No issues until Monday when my port location started hurting. Woke me up otta my sleep. I have not been taking pain meds for weeks & I had to take something to sleep. Very strange it would start throbbing 3 weeks later. It also freaks me out that I can feel my port. Is that normal? It's super gross. My port still hurts today. Not sure if I should call my doc? It's tender to the touch & I can't lay flat.
  15. Hi there, my bmi is 34 & I had surgery on 5/31. I would like to lose 50 pounds. I've been in the 200 for 5 years & have done alot of research on the band. I think it's a good choice. I am over 2 weeks post op & feel really good. I had 3 tiny incisions & my biggest complaint was the gas pains. I made a conscious decision to take my loss slow. Since surgery I have lost 8 lbs, weighed in at 232. I see people who are losing way faster than me but I was only on clears for 1 week. I am eating normal foods just in smaller sizes. I don't get a fill until 7-11. I think it's a great tool! Remember it's a tool, you have to use it to your advantage. It will be a journey & I think it's a great choice to live a healthier life! I did qualify w/ my bmi & I have HBP so that made me a candidate. Keep us posted & any question just ask. Good luck
  16. I think it help those that aren't getting the nutrients they need. My doc just gave me a list to buy myself. I didn't have to do any special kind. I take chewable vitamin c & flintstones. My levels have been fine.
  17. Hi there, I'm 2 weeks post op & it was a week for me. It didn't hurt. Have fun:)
  18. I agree I'm 2 weeks post op & my tummy is super pouchy. I think it's mostly swollen but it is weird. I had a tummy tuck years ago after my 2nd child & my tummy was always flatter but now its weird looking. I think it will take awhile to go down. I'm wearing dresses to work as well.
  19. Don't get discouraged. Your body is working very hard & it knows where it needs to be. My surgeon was very honest & told me that in many cases we replace one addiction (food) with another (the scale). He warned me to not do that b/c it can be damaging to my (our) journey. Don't focus on the numbers. Focus on how you feel, the weight will come off. It's a slow journey, enjoy it. I never weight myself more than once a week, most times every other week. It will fluctuate but that's okay:). Try really hard to not focus on the scale it will drive you crazy.
  20. I never felt any symptoms so I'm shocked to know I've had one. I called the docs office & his nurse got kinda snappy saying she had no clue what I was referring to?:/. I told her she needs to pull my hospital chart & have the doctor call me. Still waiting.
  21. Man, I have to get me one of those. I tried to order from the kids menu today & was told no...grrr. How do I get one? Good to know:) thanks
