  1. Yay! We are sleeve sisters, jas!

Today I went and had my EKG done. They also drew a whole bunch of blood for tests- I was amazed because they kept me so distracted with questions I didn't even get nervous about the needle- in the past I have had anxiety so bad about the needle that I almost pass out! The nurse who did the EKG was super nice, and said that at first glance my test looked great! Five days left til surgery...

  2. Hey everyone! I scheduled my surgery today, and am an official December Diva! My surgery is scheduled for December 20th!!! I am sooo excited, and a little bit scared. All of this has moved really fast for me. I first started thinking about this mid-November, had my initial consult Nov. 21st, sleep study a week ago, and then today got the approval call and scheduled the surgery!

A little bit about me- I am 28, married for seven years, with two dogs and two cats. I like to crochet, cross-stitch, read, go for walks, and play with my nieces(who are 3 and 6). I teach Sunday school to 4-6 year olds at my church, and am really hoping that this surgery will help me become fertile again. We have been wanting a family for about three years now, and are in the process of getting licensed to adopt out of the foster care system. I have always wanted a big family!

My heaviest ever was 321, at the first consult I was286, and am now at 277! Ready to get my life back on track and get this show on the road!

  3. Still waiting for the people to come out and set up the BiPAP machine in my home.... I hope they come out soon! I weighed in this morning on my wii and am down almost ten pounds since Nov. 21st, when I weighed in at the first consultation. I've been doing the liquid diet off and on, in hopes that this process would be moving along a little quicker, thinking that I would be able to schedule the surgery ASAP once I finally get approved. The waiting is not easy. I have been dreaming of a normal appetite since I was 9 years old!

  4. Hey GIMB, hope you are feeling better! I have been lurking around reading your journey the last few weeks, and wanted to say hi. Praying for you, and if it helps, I have in the past considered plateaus to be little mercies so that my skin has time to keep up and not be so saggy. But I haven't had surgery yet either- just diets with times of more or less success. Good thoughts your way!

  5. I'm in the waiting period right now. I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea, and all I have to do before I can schedule my surgery is get the BiPAP machine delivered and set up, sleep a couple nights with it to show I am being compliant, and then they will call and set up a date for surgery. I have to wait for the company who sets up the machine to get the fax from the sleep center before they come out and set it up... It's all so complicated and waiting is hard!!!

  6. Hey everyone, I just joined this site, though I've been lurking for awhile. I am 28yo, and I have been struggling with my weight since I was seven. I wasn't actually overweight, though, until I was nine, but I don't remember a time when it wasn't a concern. I don't have a surgery date yet, but I am going to have the sleeve surgery with Dr. Jayaseelan in Dallas, TX. All I am waiting for is my insurance to approve the surgery, and to figure out what to do about my sleep apnea. It has been a really rough week- I didn't even know that I had apnea until Monday! My first test was last Saturday, and the sleep center called Monday and said that I had stopped breathing 79 times, and my oxygen sat was at 58%! So I went back in Monday night to try a CPAP machine, and apparently that didn't cut it. They brought me back in last night to try a BiPAP machine, and now I am waiting for the results. I don't honestly know what would happen next if the machine last night didn't work, and I'm kind of scared about it all! The upside is that the insurance company will probably approve my surgery quicker, or at least that's what the study coordinator from the sleep center was telling me.

My first consultation with Dr. Jayaseelan's office was Nov. 21, and they didn't think it would be a problem to get the approval and surgery scheduled before the end of the year. This is all happening so fast!

My husband has been kind of freaked out by all of this so far. He's been great and very supportive, but an emotional mess.

Anyway, I have really been enjoying reading this forum, and have been so excited to see all the victories and joys you all have been experiencing. I can't wait to get to that part of my journey!
