  1. Oh my goodness! People can be so dramatic! You have a better probability of getting run over crossing the street than you do of sying with this surgery! Tomorrow morning I am getting an endoscopy done- I have to be there at 6:30am! It's under anesthesia, so I get a little taste of what the "surgery" experience will be ahead of time, minus the incisions of course.
  2. Thanks indymom! How long ago were you sleeved? I am so excited to get this all done and be onthe loser's bench!!
  3. Yay! We are sleeve sisters, jas! Today I went and had my EKG done. They also drew a whole bunch of blood for tests- I was amazed because they kept me so distracted with questions I didn't even get nervous about the needle- in the past I have had anxiety so bad about the needle that I almost pass out! The nurse who did the EKG was super nice, and said that at first glance my test looked great! Five days left til surgery...

    December sleevers!

I'm so sorry, Cooper! Did they say there was any way to get the surgery at some point in the future? You are in my prayers!

    December sleevers!

Hey everyone! I scheduled my surgery today, and am an official December Diva! My surgery is scheduled for December 20th!!! I am sooo excited, and a little bit scared. All of this has moved really fast for me. I first started thinking about this mid-November, had my initial consult Nov. 21st, sleep study a week ago, and then today got the approval call and scheduled the surgery! A little bit about me- I am 28, married for seven years, with two dogs and two cats. I like to crochet, cross-stitch, read, go for walks, and play with my nieces(who are 3 and 6). I teach Sunday school to 4-6 year olds at my church, and am really hoping that this surgery will help me become fertile again. We have been wanting a family for about three years now, and are in the process of getting licensed to adopt out of the foster care system. I have always wanted a big family! My heaviest ever was 321, at the first consult I was286, and am now at 277! Ready to get my life back on track and get this show on the road!
  6. Wow, Linda! I can relate- I actually just got off the phone with my hubs to tell him the news about scheduling the surgery, and he sounded very strained and stressed when we hung up! He is not nearly as excited and gung-ho about this as I am....
  7. Oh my GOSH!! just talked to the surgeon's office, and scheduled the surgery for the 20th!!!! Now I am SCARED!!! lol. It's a happy scared, though. I am just so excited that it's all coming together!
  8. Got a special little phone call today-- APPROVED!!! Signed, sealed, soon to be delivered!
  9. LOL... Maybe it's the human condition-- we all expect everyone ELSE to be on our time schedule, lol. I'm sure they are thinking that I won't mind if they take care of it as soon as it's *convenient* instead of as soon as *possible*
  10. Still waiting for the people to come out and set up the BiPAP machine in my home.... I hope they come out soon! I weighed in this morning on my wii and am down almost ten pounds since Nov. 21st, when I weighed in at the first consultation. I've been doing the liquid diet off and on, in hopes that this process would be moving along a little quicker, thinking that I would be able to schedule the surgery ASAP once I finally get approved. The waiting is not easy. I have been dreaming of a normal appetite since I was 9 years old!
  11. Hey GIMB, hope you are feeling better! I have been lurking around reading your journey the last few weeks, and wanted to say hi. Praying for you, and if it helps, I have in the past considered plateaus to be little mercies so that my skin has time to keep up and not be so saggy. But I haven't had surgery yet either- just diets with times of more or less success. Good thoughts your way!
  12. Congratulations on such an exciting journey! I am also craving a child, and am having the surgery in hopes of gaining fertility. You are doing great!!! Everyone loses at a different pace. I started out at almost exactly the same starting weight as you (286 lbs for me), and I can't wait to be back down to 250!
  13. I'm in the waiting period right now. I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea, and all I have to do before I can schedule my surgery is get the BiPAP machine delivered and set up, sleep a couple nights with it to show I am being compliant, and then they will call and set up a date for surgery. I have to wait for the company who sets up the machine to get the fax from the sleep center before they come out and set it up... It's all so complicated and waiting is hard!!!
  14. Wow, how awesome! Now you are the one who is an encouragement. Congratulations!!
  15. Thanks, Lissa! I heard from the sleep center that the BiPAP worked okay, so now I am just waiting for the people to come set it up at my house. I really hope this makes the insurance company hurry to approve the surgery-- it would be awesome to get squeezed in before the end of the year!
  16. Oh, congratulations! I just know your dreams will come true!!! I also struggle with PCOS, and am having the sleeve surgery in hopes of gaining fertility. No date set yet for the surgery, though. Good luck to us all!
  17. When I told my family and in-laws, I got the exact opposite reaction from each of them than I expected. Those who have generally been positive and supportive were pretty negative, and the ones that I thought would be hard on me were just very accepting and curious. Go figure!
  18. Thanks so much!!! I really hope the biPAP worked well enough last night. When the tech came in this morning, she was like, "Well, I never did get you into a REM cycle! You kept me busy all night! And I wasn't supposed to tell you that..." I haven't heard from them yet today, so hopefully this means I get to stay home and sleep in my own bed tonight.
