Honestly, he may of had an "off" day but you should go with your gut. Liking his staff is certainly a plus! I saw my surgeon for the consult and about 5 minutes before surgery. Beyond that, my appointments were done with her assistant or staff which is not something they tell you. Go with your gut or know that someone with better bedside manner may handle your other appointments. If he's a good surgeon, you may want to stick around....
    Good luck!

P.S. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing a procedure you are not comfrotable with! This is your decision, he may make a recommendation or prefer one of the other BUT this is what YOU will live with the rest of your life.

manda05 got a reaction from vingotti33 in Gasrto Or Lapband??
definitely go to a bariatric seminar, they discuss gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and lapband. they talk about the disadvantages and advantages and compare the results between the three. after a couple years of research and alot of thought, i have chosen to get the lap band. To me there alot more risks and disadvantages with the gastric bypass and I just felt the better choice was the lap-band. But that is my personal opinion for myself.
Go to www.lapband.com you can locate and register for a seminar in your area. However, I would advise calling after you register and verify the seminar date, time and location, my first try I went to the seminar I registered for and there was no seminar that night--was some kind of mixup.
    Good luck!!

Congrats on your decision to make this journey. I am with you, I just made my decision a couple of months ago. I am due for surgery in a couple of weeks. My wife was hesitant for me as well but she is on board now. Do this for you and your health. Include your fiancee in your journey.

I took two years to make my decision to make a change as well. You are going about it the same way. Be patient as The Lap Band process can also be time consuming. I have been banded now for 2 and a half years. I have no idea where the time has gone. I have lost over one hundred pounds, kept it off and had a nip and tuck this past summer. I am a new person. I am called skinny and I look normal. I wear a normal size and can now shop in any store and find clothes to fit. I am proud of myself. You will be strong if you want to change bad enough. Do it for yourself and no one else. Eating the correct way just seems to happen after the band. I made better food choices and eat way less than I would before being banded. I must say I do miss a good chow down I cannot eat a lot of food any more.
I will admit to you I still have disordered eating. I am and probably will always be a food addict. The Band has been able to help me control this issue. It is a wonderful tool and if you follow the rules can make you happy and healthy in no time. This is NOT a diet it has become a way of life. I do not take blood pressure meds or pain meds, no more sleep apnea, joint pain, headaches, knee shots, No more worrying about diabetes or not having anything to wear. This is a journey and make the most of it.
Set a physical goal and then reach for the stars. I am skiing again never thought that would happen. Best wishes imaluckydog
