I'm not doing great so far this week. I went away and ate too much. I got back to work to a Hispanic heritage pot luck and ate too much. Here's to hoping I can even things out in the next couple of days. I have run about 6 miles this week so far. I'm thinking it is time I start training for a 10k and kick things up a notch.

Vitamins I Need To Take Post Surgery?
MellioM replied to futuresize8's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take opurity band optimized vitamins right now. Not sure I will continue when they run out. They are 1x a day chewables. I also take be-balanced vitamin D/calcium from gnc and be-beautiful Biotin chews from gnc. -
My nutritionist was excited to work with me! I'm also ovo/lacto and have never had problems getting enough protein!

I will try these with pb2 instead if peanut butter. sounds yummy.

My orthopedist said I'm 100% ok to run. He actually thinks it is good because as the weight comes off the pressure on the knee will decrease. I started running slow. Very very slow. I just increased my pace as it got easier always making sure I was being challenged. it took time but I "ran" my first 5k in 40 minutes. It can be done!

I have knee pain and since I'm addicted to running I didn't want to cause harm. I saw an orthopedist and found I have thinning of the cartilage on my knee cap. I am told it was the excess weight over the years that did the damage. I am not allowed to train hills so 0 incline on treadmill. I have to wear a support sleeve and take anti-inflammatory meds and ice after long runs.

I also agree with upping your calories. I hit a plateau and was not losing anything for a month. I upped my calories to around 1500 (I do intense exercise regularly) and have been losing since. I stalled for two weeks and had a weekend calorie up fest and ate about 1700 on those two days, I immediately lost a pound. I don't want my calories to go too low. I actually had to have my first unfill because I couldn't eat anything for two days. I want to keep eating and keep my metabolism up.

Need Some Advice. Getting Enough Protein But What About Veggies?
MellioM replied to lucky2bLAURA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does anybody else use a juicer? I throw some kale and broccoli in with a couple of apples and call it good. :-) -
It truly Ian a challenge to eat enough calories!!! I have a protein shake every morning because I'm too tight to eat in the morning. Some days I can barely fit in 1100/1200 and my goal is 1500 - 1700 depending on exercise demands. Sonera days I just can't do it. Yesterday I got stuck like all day and ended up with a protein drink for dinner. :-/ non what I wanted. It is funny how different eating is now. I too make allowances for things like a slice of pizza and just could never eat now like a non-banded person. It takes me twice as long to eat half as much. I'm aol happy I was banded because I never would have slowed down on my own. I don't judge what others eat but sometimes I'm jealous that they can eat. Whatever they want and non get stuck like I would.

I too use mine in my shakes

I bought my first size 14 skirt this weekend since before I was married 7 years ago!!! I didn't even bother trying on the XL shirt I picked up (silly me for even looking at it!) since the medium almost fit and the large was just right! This also happens to be the first time I shopped in NY&Co instead of Lane Bryant in over 7 years!

Thank you for that post. I'm struggling to NOT dip too low in calories. I know that when I go too low my workouts suffer. I can feel that my body isn't fueled. It is hard being banded and seeing people eating less than 1200 calories and most people calling it good. I'm at around 1400/1500 a day but sometimes my band keeps me at around 1200. I know I need more than 1200 when I can easily burn over 600 at the gym. Calorie intake is a real battle ground with bandsters. I know that fueling your body for exercise is just as important as fueling a car for a drive! I've lost more than 80lbs so I must be doing something right.

I did p90x and found it lacking in cardio. No band problems with it. I am getting insanity next. I did have problems running and had to wear spanx-like under shirts to hold the port down. As I got more fit I had less port issues. I now only have to wear something after a fill. I run almost daily. P90x is more for strength training. I had trouble with the ab workout because I have tailbone issues. I can't speak to whether or not the port would be bothered with that part of the program. Everything else in P90x was no problem. I love the yoga and found that I got a great core workout from that (though some poses were just too difficult!!!).

Make sure u r not adding it to hot coffee. I think thickness would depend on the protein powder you are using. I like my unjury protein and never find it too thick.

I take a veggie burger some salsa and a cheese stick for lunch. Sometimes I do black beans, cheddar, salsa, and plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream. I also take a couple slices of cheese and roll it up with vegetarian deli meats sometimes.

Bahamas Cruise In 6 Weeks, 5 Day Pouch Test
MellioM replied to Sunshyne068's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck. Even if you end up with a different dress, you did fantastic! -
I just put a band aid over mine to stop it from poking through my clothes. It came off soon enough.
