Morning Star "meatless" Products?
MellioM replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Being a vegetarian I have tried them all! I love using the crumbles in recipes that call for ground beef. The garden burgers are great and the chikn patties are good but I really like Boca spicy chikn patties better. I like to have a veggie burger with salsa for lunch. -
What do you all think about this stuff? Weightloss is so confusing. Obviously we are all working on low calorie diets to lose our weight. But, how much does it really impact our metabolism and do we want our metabolism slowed down (I am willing to bet most of us already have a slowed down/messed up metabolism) more? I read this and I just don't know what to make of it. Actually, I know that it is a whole lot of calories they recommend and I'm pretty certain I'd pack the pounds on if I ate like this: Custom BMR Calculation Thanks for checking your BMR here on Fat 2 Fit Radio. If you're not already subscribed to Fat 2 Fit Radio, consider doing so today. Please visit the Subscribe page to get the podcast delivered automatically to your iTunes, juice, e-mail inbox or the podcatcher of your choice for FREE. Entered information: 32 year old female, 62 inches tall, weighing 202 pounds. From the information that you entered, you'd like to weigh 150 lbs. Harris-Benedict Formula There are a few different methods to calculating yourbasal metabolic rate (BMR). One of the most popular, developed in the early 1900's is called the Harris-Benedict formula. Based on this formula, your current BMR is 1679 calories. Katch-McArdle Forumla The numbers above are fairly accurate, however they don't take into account your lean body mass. A more accurate formula that does take your lean body mass into account is the Katch-McArdle formula. Since many of us have scales that will tell us our current body fat, this formula may yield more accurate results. Based on the information you provided, body fat percentage of 45.5%, you have a lean body mass of 111 lbs., and your BMR is 1460 calories. How Many Calories Should I Eat? Based on your goal weight, the following chart was generated. The chart shows the number of calories that you should eat on a daily basis to reach your goal weight. At Fat 2 Fit Radio we advocate eating like the thin, healthy person that you want to become. The calorie levels you see in the chart are not extreme, but they do create that all important caloric deficit that is required to get you to your goal weight in a safe manner. Once you reach your goal weight, you will continue eating the same number of calories for the rest of your life to maintain that weight. You'll never be on a diet again. Based on how much activity you do on an average day, the calories in the right column will be the number of calories that you will be able to eat at your goal weight. If you start eating those calories right now (eating like the thinner you), you will eventually become that thinner person. As you get closer to your goal weight, your weight loss will start to slow down. It is OK to eat a few hundred calories less per day (200-300) to speed up your weight loss at this point. Activity Level Daily Calories Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1739 Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1992 Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2246 Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2500 Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.) 2753

Right?! There is no way I can eat that much and lose weight.

I willprobably never wear regular tall boots. I bought a pair of wide calf ones online last year. I loved the look but the material made me itch like crazy! I am a runner now and my calves are huge. The difference is that I look at my calves and see the definition in them and I'm in awe at what they can do. My legs look HOT in heels!!!! I cant wait to see them when.I get closer to goal. I still have 52lbs to lose.

Need A Battle Buddy At 1.4 Years Post And Am Stuck
MellioM replied to Dusty_S's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm almost 9 months out. I've lost 80lbs but I have hit a plateau for the past month. I still have 50lbs to reach my goal (well,52). I exercise at least 5 days a week. I use a heart rate monitor and I track every bite I put in my mouth. I stay around 1200 calories because when I go too low I don't have enough energy to workout as hard as I like (I'm talking burning 250 calories is a bad day. I usually burn between 500 and 800 depending on the workout). I can't figure out what to do to keep the scale moving. I do have a fill scheduled for next week. -
I saw that on I <3 to Run's Facebook page yesterday and I cried. I had friends there for me when I was doing the fat girl shuffle that I called running. My friends are two avid runners. I have never been so welcomed by a group of people as I have been by runners.

I'm in Dutchess County. There is a local support group meeting monthly at saint francis hospital

I am 8 months out (almost 9!) and I have yet to try pasta. It just doesn't seem.worth it to me. I would much rather have a veggie burger with sauce and ricotta than pasta with the same things. I can only eat really crusty breads. For example, I had black bean soup at panera yesterday and was able to eat the outer layer of the bread that comes with it. There is no way the doughy middle would have worked.

Two things I live by: You are so much stronger than you think. And Don't let your head tell you that you can't. I know with asthma it is different but listen to your body and take it slow. You can do this!

Bahamas Cruise In 6 Weeks, 5 Day Pouch Test
MellioM replied to Sunshyne068's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What are your workout supplements for? I only take on long run days.a scoop of Alarm from GNC to give me that extra continued energy. -
I wont drink it. Sometimes my husband will have an orange soda and it looks.so good. What I do is take a really big sniff to sAtisfy that temptation and keep it moving. Water is 99% of what I drink. I only like bottled water though so I buy cases of it. It kills me for the environmental impact but it is the only way I drink enough water (I do recycle ghetto bottles).
-
I drink a protein shake in the morning and will have a Greek yogurt for snack if hungry before lunch. Lunch is usually a boca or morning star farms veggie product (burger/sausage/chickn) and usually some salsa or tomato sauce with that. If I'm running out somewhere that I cant heat my lunch I take am atkins bar that has high protein and high fiber.

We use condoms. I was on the pill before we decided to have kids. Two daughters later I went in to talk about birth control. I got Mirena. In 2 days time it came out. Seriously, it just came out. $200 copay down the drain. Well, in the trash. When I talked to my gyno again she said I was out of luck because...dun dun dun : High Blood Pressure. That was what got me on the road to lapband. No way was I ok with blood pressure med 2x a day at only 31 and with two kids. So, we still use condoms and my husband is looking into the big V.

How long have you been "stuck" at that weight? Do you track all of your calories? Do you use a heart rate monitor to calculate calories burned? I found that the machines highly over estimated the number of calories I burned.

I so need a pair! I'm tired of knee pain.
-
Any runners have experience with.them? I've been having knee pain and thought I might try them out. I met a girl at a 5K a few months back that swore they stopped all her knee pain. I have an appointment with an orthopedist next week but I really really really really don't want to stop running. As is I have been walking fast and doing a little slow jogging to avoid aggravating it further.

I weigh myself daily. I know they say once a week is best but, for me , having that daily reminder of what I'm.doing keeps me motivated. I don't freak out if the scale hasn't moved. If it goes up I am more mindful that day of proper food and exercise. I guess you can say it is one day at a time for me. I just use the scale as my morning reminder.

How To Tighten A Lap Band Without A Port Head?
MellioM replied to model's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know there is a difference between being thin and being healthy. I'm sorry for your plight model but both of your doctors (the one in Mexico and the one giving you fills and patching you up the way he did) should be ashamed and should not be doing what they have done. It is clear that you are willing to repeatedly risk your life to bring your weight down. Please, now that you are patched up, see a psychiatrist to help you become healthy in mind and body. I fear what could happen to you with another complication. Being thin is not worth dying. Aim for healthy and not just thin. I wish you luck. -
I know you said that you could just track your calories without the band. It sounds simple enough I know. But, the reason the band helps is so that we are not so hungry with 1200 calories a day that we binge. Go back to your doctor and see about getting a fill. Look through the food/nutrition forum here for advice on foods that won't get stuck. Since you only had two fills it is possible that the reason food was coming back up is because you didn't learn to chew enough eat slow enough or take small enough bites. I'm 8 months out and I still will slip on eating too fast from time to time. Talk to your doctor about making the band work for you before abandoning ship. Good luck.

Maybe it is finding a mentor / mentee with the right fit. I would love help but I would need a mentor that includes regular exercise. Also, I am not at my best under 1200 calories a day so if someone were to say that I need to consume less I would say that that wasn't an option. I would rather spend two hours in the gym than cut my calories lower than 1200. Now, you want to talk about better options for those calories then that is great. See, just from reading I know there are many people on here that would not be the right fit.

I havent heard of that one. I use my fitness pal and love the barcode scanner on my phone and ipod. I track food and exercise with it.
