    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

BravoGT, I think many ways, acid reflux being one, and that is what I get. I am not sure how it's handled.

TxGrl1, when did they repair it? During your surgery yesterday or prior?
  3. Has anyone read the lap Band Solution by paul O'brien? It actually encourages up to 7 drinks per week, stating; Our patients did intake alcohol despite our guidence and so we did a study to see if they loss less weight because they were "breaking the law". To our surprise, we found that , within a modest alcohol intake range, the more they had, the better the weight loss. Most were drinking wine with meals...Moderate alcohol intake has a number of established health benefits, such as a reduction in the risk of heart disease and strokes...Since our study, we have acknowledged a further benefit of a modest alcohol intake on health and have allowed up to seven standard drinks per week. .. Admittedly he only speaks of wine only, so I don't know about those chocolate martini's

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

It's not Hollis, it's the front desk. It's all good now. Just rest and enjoy the drugs! What do we have to take anyhow? I've heard it is liquid. Like cough syrup???? On the EGD subject. i am thinking that I might be going in earlier because I have chronic acid reflux. EVERY day. That might give them the opportunity for them to fix something if need be.

BravoGolfTango. 1) thanks for your service. 2) here is the deal. Dr Hollis' reputation as a surgeon is actually excellent. Unfortunately his front office does not reflect that. Is that enough to drive me away. Perhaps if something didn't happen today. Thankfully it did, and in the nick of time. He SHOULD be more aware (or Beth) at the public opinion on his staff issues. 3)moving along now and ready to put this all behind me and move onto the surgicenter.

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I can finally join the ranks of the July bandsters. I am scheduled for July 19, but I still feel this is totally unreal and not happening. Like I'll believe it when I see it. They still haven't given me a total for my 10% and I think that pisses me off most. How friggin hard is it to determine that. WHAT IS 10% of the cost of the lap band surgery at your practice? So I am scheduled at Memorial Hermann on July 19th. yay!\

  9. Yay! Glad to have you back. Been looking for an update, but I am sure you were tired yesterday. I have heard of people eating 3 gas-x strips and it helping. That pain sucks. I did not get a diect quote from true results. I got an "around XYZ" quote. I need numbers. I need to know what the co-pay for the EGD is gonna be. Aggh. Anywho, "j" called me back prior to work hors this morning and I missed the call. I know Hollis has a great rep, that is why I am putting up with this craziness. Will be looking out for updates!

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

I emailed throught the website. I got really upset after hearing your story and then reading all the other threads about the front office. I left them a detailed email about how my job schedule is crazy (I work for an airline), I have a vacation coming up, and I am used to uber-efficiency due to work. I went so far as to set my own surgery date on the 19th! I am sure that won't fly well, but I knew he had other patients scheduled that day so i would give it a shot, one can only say no! That day would be perfect as that puts me about 2 weeks prior to my family cruise. "J" called me at 0815 this morning and I MISSED THE CALL!!!!! haha! Then I call back and the office is CLOSED. She called me before office hours. I am hoping the ball will start rolling now, I was SERIOUSLY considering going to another Doctor! The front office represents a doc, but sometimes you have to stand strong in what you believe is right and I was willing to switch, begrudgingly, if my needs were not being met. So thank you for the inspiration! Now, I am just waiting for 9 am to promptly call so I can get some peace of mind. So, no email needed t this point. But I appreciate it Jen
  12. Plantar Faciitis I had when running. It is THE WORST! If you are having heel pain this is likely the cause. It is extremely common. I went to the urgent care foot doc (yes, we have them at our ugent care) as I just couldn't take it a second longer. He gave me a cortisone shot right through the heal. The most painful shot I have ever has and I screamed like a woman in labor when he did it. But I would do it all over again as literally 30 minutes later the pain was GONE. After months of issues. Anywho, Maybe talk to your doc about a cortiseone shot for what ails to. Of course you cant have too many, but man it was great! BEst part, NO MEDS! Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue on the sole (bottom surface) of the foot. It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot. It is a very common condition and can be difficult to treat if not looked after properly. Another common term for the affliction is "policeman's heel".[1] Longstanding cases of plantar fasciitis often demonstrate more degenerative changes than inflammatory changes, in which case they are termed plantar fasciosis.[2] The suffix "osis" implies a pathology of chronic degeneration without inflammation. Since tendons and ligaments do not contain blood vessels, they do not actually become inflamed. Instead, injury to the tendon is usually the result of an accumulation over time of microscopic tears at the cellular level. The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band of connective tissue originating on the bottom surface of the calcaneus (heel bone) and extending along the sole of the foot towards the toes. It has been reported that plantar fasciitis occurs in two million Americans a year and in 10% of the U.S. population over a lifetime.[3] It is commonly associated with long periods of weight bearing. Among non-athletic populations, it is associated with a high body mass index.[4] The pain is usually felt on the underside of the heel and is often most intense with the first steps of the day. Another symptom is that the sufferer has difficulty bending the foot so that the toes are brought toward the shin (decreased dorsiflexion of the ankle). A symptom commonly recognized among sufferers of plantar fasciitis is an increased probability of knee pains, especially among runners.Jump to: navigation, search Plantar fasciitis M72.2 728.71 10114 007021 reduces lactic acid from exercise. epsom salt baths of course.
  13. when did they give you a quote on your portion of the bill. I don't see how they schedule people and not tell people a price. Can't even get an EGD scheduled, nor a quote on a copay. Anyone care to share what their copay was for EGD?
  14. I am having problems. I have a serious problem when someone promises me to call me back and then don't. They have yet to call me back one time after telling me they would. Including today. NOTING, and I mean nothing irritates me more than that.

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

HORRIBLE< just terrible. My brain was telling me to go to someone else. But his rep is good. I am still thinking about it. I have never ever had such a difficult time getting a price quote or date for any procedure like I have this one. Do you by chance have an email address.
  16. I dunno if there is another area for this. It is all coming at me so quick. I am in League City, Tx, just south of Houston about 20 minutes. Having surgery at Memorial Hermann SE. I have, of course been watching many a you tube video and one in particular says it is super important to have persons around you in the same boat to keep you on your toes. I am approved and awaiting my July date exactly. Anyone interested in maybe creating a FB page for SE Houston bandsters? Maybe some coffee/tea somewhere and then a phone support system after?

knowing this really ticks me off. They told me they would call me on monday. I had to call them right before 5. They told me they would get back to me on Tuesday, again I called them before 5. Now they have told me they would call me today with #'s. I just might lose it too. How do you schedule a surgery that you don't know the cost of???!!!!
  18. radarluv

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

yes, I call them about every day, because I need to know what my portion is. I don't understand how they don't know why this is the 1st thing we need to know. I said, if I am going to be scheduled in July, I need to know now. How difficult is it to figure out 10% of the surgical costs. If you don't mind, what was your part according to your insurance?
  19. radarluv

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

hmmm, maybe I can talk them into getting me in on the 19th as well. Wouldn't that be something. They are not the greatest at doing things very speedily though.

    Protein Shakes

They are in a long tube that looks like a vial. Body Fortress super Protein. Fruit punch flavor. $10 at WM for a 6 pack. Amazon has them a little cheaper. In Texas, I need something cool quick and NOT heavy.
  21. I have a BMI of 35 and I was approved because I have type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Only those counted. I also have PCOS and HIGH cholesterol which I take meds for. Unfortunately, the latter 2, under MY insurance do not count as co-morbidities. Only the 1st two. I only needed one co-morbidity for my approval, I really hope this gets me off all the meds! Good luck

    Protein Shakes

I am sooooo loving the protein SHOTS. They are listed as one of my choices and they are cold and tropical and actually quite tasty! I just slam them and then drink a propel water. I was surprised I actually liked them so.. $10 for 6 at WM, amazon is where I will get my next batch. I have had so many protein shakes in my life that I just can't fathom drinking them straight for 2 weeks. They are so heavy and I am not a huge sweets/chocolate/vanilla person. 26 grams per shot no sugar no carbs, vitamins a,b and e I believe...

was the EGD done in the office, or the hospital. how long did it take, and was it scheduled as a regular doctor appointment or is it considered surgery? just wondering if it will be on a wed or fri.

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

The preop diet True results gave me allows for 3 oz of lean meat and a cup of greens at night. did he make you go 100% liquid? If so I wanna go ahead and do that. They are planning to get me in in July> I am so excited for you!

    Dr Hollis Surgery Days.

I was assuming there would be a prep drink like they do when I have had my last the lap surgeries, basically to clean out the insides, but I suppose since you have been all liquids it would make sense that there is no preop drink, which is good, because to be frank you are on the toilet all day, lol. It tastes terrible and i cried when I had to drink it. Funny now.
