    My Big Day!!

very sweet of you to think of others, and prayers for you, too. You will do great. I am right behind you on the 19th! Don't forget about us, and report back!
  2. I am on day three of my 2 week diet and am having a lot of nausea. Is this normal?
  3. Not feeling good at all. I hear day 4 is the nigh hurdle. I gone straight liquids even though doc said I could have some greens and 3 oz lean meat. Maybe later, but I am on a roll.
  4. Tomorrow is my 2 week liquid start! woohoo! I cannot imagine folks starting this liquid diet during the hili-daze. Good on ya. Wish me luck, and I will keep you all in my prayers.
  5. I am drinking sooooooo much water that I am in the bathroom every 10 minutes, however, I am also a flight attendant, and I am on a trip, so the dry air does dehydrate. I just finished my 4th protein shake for the day, and feel a little better. Is it possible for my body to be withdrawing? Like detox?
  6. I hope not as I fly for a living! I know someone who works with me that has the band and she doesn't have any complaints about cabin pressurization. I can do anywhere from 1-7 flights a day. I haven't been banded yet, so I can't tell you for sure about how it effects my body.

    Anyone from Texas?

League City here (Houston), band date 7/19/12. Liquids phase. It totally blows, but fot the eye on the prize.
  8. absolutely not. My LBL was the WORST decision I have EVER made. I have said so many times that I wish I could go back in time. I am seven years out. The scar is horrifying. All weight gain went to upper body and I feel like a linebacker.
  9. B52- the book I was given allows for carbonated beverages (sugar free). So it is so weird the differences in opinions o this one. I will not do anything to jeopardize the band until properly healed, but the book says carbonation is just fine. It is jusnt the empty calories in beer that concerns me. Kathie52, Yes, CCL. I cruise a lot! Good luck tomorrow. My doc is Hollis, and although his staff sucks, HE is absolutely aces! He did my EGD 2 days ago.
  10. yep. i did the whole LBL 7 years ago and the ballooned. My stomach is tight and hips are thin, but I look like a linebacker! I hope this does not create problems in the surgery with all the scar tissue.
  11. I had a TT and LBL about 7 years ago, and then got fatter. My skin is tight though. Wondering if this will effect my surgery in any way.
  12. I read that it can be handy to carry a cocktail fork, and eat with that. Maybe in the beginning it wouldn't be such a bad idea. A physical reminder, instead of reflex.
  13. I have this exact situation coming up. Getting banded on the 19th, filled just before my cruise on the 12th of August. 9 People on that cruise and NONE of them know I am getting banded. I know they offer a lot of Soups. That's good. I will bring my Protein shots. I will be indulging in a bit of tequila, but not too much. Beer will be a no-no this time Hey B-52, I see your profile pic, you have a beer in hand. Do you drink it with no problems? Don't worry, I am not going to try it anytime soon, but in the future, when I travel, I like to indulge in a local brew.

    Meals For 1

Once I have lapbound, I am just assuming a lot of food will go to waste for me. That's one of my biggest problems now. I eat eerything on my plate because I paid for it. Gotta mentally get out of that.

    Liquid Diet=Terrifying

I looooove the protein shots. Kroeger has them on sale right now for 1.59. I wiped them clean out. They are near the pharmacy section, close to the EAS/Slimfast junk. I love them because the have 26 grams of protein, no sugar, 10 calories and a fruit flavored and I just down them. pretty refreshing and NOT a darn milk flavored drink. They are pretty expensive, even online, so run out to Krogers now! 2 people in the check out line asked me what they were.
  20. Good morning to my new favorite website. I have a question...... I am reading a book that was given to me by the medical staff called "The Lap-Band Solution". I am puzzled by something. Let me start by saying I am not a soda drinker, that will be zero problem for me, however, my good friend, whom also had the surgey 7 years ago told me that one of the strict NO-NO's is NO CARBONATED beverages.....EVER. I am now a little perplexed, because in the book, by Paul O'brien (a world leader in weight loss research and Lap-band surgery states, on page 228; "You are allowed to drink unlimited amounts of: Water, mineral water, tea and coffee and LOW-CALORIE soft drinks." Now, I have no desire for soft drinks. Could not care less. I do however Love to have a nice beer when I vacation. I don't drink it at home, however, when I travel out of the country, I like to enjoy a nice local brew. It is just a treat that I thoroughly looove. How do I get 2 such different opinion's and what has your doc told you. I do not want to alter the shape of the stomach, but if you can drink mineral water and non-fat sodas, then why are ale's not allowed, other than the calorie aspect. Also, in the book, it states You may dink 7 glasses of wine a week and that it is quite great for you, even with dinner. Please help this newbie that has recently been approved for surgery. Of course I will discuss with the surgeon, but I would like to hear your opinion. I don't drink a lot, but found this surprising. My friend DID say that her Doc said it was perfectly fine to have wine or coctail, so long as it's only so many per week, but what about just one or two beers while on a weeks vacation? I have another question, but will ask it on a separate thread as this one has become quite lengthy.
  21. If you don't mind me asking, what were your insurance terms. Basically, what was his charge for the whole procedure? My insurance pays 90%, I am left with 10% not bad, but I have vacay coming. What was your total cost of the surgery, what percentage did you have to pay through your insurance. If that is too personal, just don't bother answering. Just trying to be prepared.

    10 Hours Post Band.

Same here about the jeans! I sed to wear a 2 and the PCOS and endo and diab 2 took over and all went downhill. I loved sliding into a pair of jeans and a tank and not feeling like I was gonna explode! I have been big for 13 years now and nothing works. I pray for relief. CONGRATS! I recover quickly too, and I have had a lot of LAP surgeries for endo. I fully ecpect to be up and around the house that evening!
  23. Anyone know what day Dr. Hollis performs his surgeries? For example, my Gyno only operates every Thursday. Just trying to manipulate my July schedule around. Carleigh, from his office is calling me back tomorrow, but I need to work on my schedule tonight and I don't want to put work in a particular sticky spot where he would want to perform the band.
