  1. There are almost no risks to pregnancy after VSG compared to pregnancy after bypass or band- its one of the very many reasons I decided on VSG- because I know I'm not done breeding yet. Just be sure to follow your surgeons guidelines and find an OB who has experience with WLS patients, wait the full 12-18 months and chances are high that you will have a perfect, normal, uncomplicated pregnancy.

  2. He's been 100% involved in everything from the very beginning and been seeing me in the hospital regularly since I was admitted- and is in charge of my care. However, surgeons are not GI specialists nor do they specialize in endoscopy/ so he had a specialist brought in to review my case.

The specialist found a TON of erosion despite me taking 20mg of Prilosec at home and protonix in the hospital. Now I'm on this god awful pink medicine (sucralfate or something like that) which adheres to the eroded places and essentially creates a barrier between my stomach and acid so that I can heal. We're trying this for a few days while I'm still here and hopefully it will get under control

I'm guessing that the erosion was caused by the infection :(

  3. Thank you all!

I was supposed to get an endoscopy yesterday, and then again today- but now they are telling me tomorrow. Because of my new anatomy nobody will scope me for legal reasons. Tomorrow the hospital is bringing in a specialist from a few hours away who does complex cases of post-WLS routinely. The wait has been agonizing but I'm relieved they are bringing in the best of the best. I was so afraid of some novice jamming a tube down there and killing me:(

  4. Yes, I am unhappy with my sleeve. I was sleeved on 2/6 and in the 15 days since surgery, I have spent 9 of them admitted to the hospital (and that is where I am currently). I read this forum left, right, and sideways so I knew all of the potential risks- but like most others I never dreamed the complications would happen to me.

I have 3 small children at home and am a stay at home mom. I have not been able nor had the strength to pick up my kids in 15 days. I have been in constant pain despite following my surgeons eating plan. I can no longer tolerate anything other than Water. Even broth and Jello cause agonizing pain.

I ask myself every day why I've done this. I hope once all of my complications are fixed I will learn to love my sleeve like so many others have. But right now I feel as though I've made the worst decision of my life.

  5. jasleeve, Easy Mama!! :) You just got through one hurdle! :) I kwym about OJ, though. I love it. Too bad you aren't in FL, I'd share some of my favorite with you. It's bottled by Indian River Growers, but it's not sold outside of this area because it's not pasteurized or processed, so no preservatives in the juice. My aunt's ex-BF works for them and sometimes brings me by a bottle of the extra pulpy stuff they can't sell. I LOVE it! :)

I need to call Wayne, now that I've posted this!

This , if nothing else, makes me want to go to Florida! Forget Disney! High pulp, delicious fresh OJ here I come!

  6. Hey guys- horrible pain in my back and chest for 3 days. So bad I could only get in about 10oz of Fluid each day.

By the time I got to the ER I was barely aware of anything anyone was saying. They pumped me full of fluids and electrolytes and sent me for chest X-rays and another upper GI. The radiologist believes that my sleeve has spun around on itself. I'm being taken in later today or tomorrow for an endoscopy and if it really is twisted I will probably need opened back up.

  7. My NUT told us that citrus is an irritant to our stomaches. But I do squeeze some lemon in my Water and love it. I would dilute OJ down to cut the carbs and acidic. ;)

I have always squeezed fresh lemon into my Water and have been wondering if my sleeve would tolerate it now. Do you have a problem with plain water at all? I can't drink it at all and I hate all of the sweet drinks like mio and CL. Maybe lemons will be the answer to my prayers!

  8. I think that is most likely because men are vastly outnumbered by women here, most men are less likely to post about complications bc they don't want to look like wimps, and women are more likely to seek support when they are struggling.
