  1. I can't understand why you aren't on a PPI already!! I started mine immediately when I got home 20mg of Prilosec 2x a day. That could be a lot of the pain you're still feeling.

I'm so sorry you're feeling regret. I was in your shoes not too long ago- I had some complications and spent a good but of Feb in the hospital- but I'm 2 months out today and life is back to normal!! Just a few weeks ago I was sobbing in my husbands arms because I had ruined my life and now my brother saw me for the first time since before surgery and he told me "OHMYGOD!! You have lost so much weight!" and he has no idea that I had surgery.

  2. I tarted this journey at 280lbs, 5'7", and 27 years of age. I have 3 beautiful kids- oldest is nearly 9 and youngest was 10 months when I had surgery on Feb 6th 2012.

I'm still 5'7", still 27 years old, still have 3 beautiful kids, but now I'm 247.5lbs and I never could have made that happen on my own. Slowly but surely the scale creeps down and I know one day I'll be able to run at the playground with the kids without being winded, fit in the rides with them at the fair, and wear an outfit that is so sexy it will knock my husbands socks off.

  3. I was sleeved almost 2 months ago (2/6/12) and I just realized today that I hit a huge milestone!!

I plugged my height/weight info into a BMI calculator and my BMI is now 38.8. When I got my surgery my BMI was 43.8! I am no longer in "Very Severely Obese" and am now just "Severely Obese". I no longer qualify for surgery with my insurance company!!!! Thank goodness I already got it :D

In just 24 more pounds I will be under a BMI of 35 and be classed as "Moderately Obese"

    HORRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I <3 pizza. If I thought I would have had to give it up for life I never would have gotten this surgery. I went from being able to eat 3-4 slices of pizza in a sitting to only being able to eat one super super thin crust (so thin you basically need to fold it up or eat it with a fork because it won't hold up on its own!) without eating the outer edge. Sometimes a few hours later I can eat the topping off of another slice- but not always and not a full extra slice.

  5. I was sleeved 2/6/12 so I'm close to hitting 2 months out. I've lost 33lbs so far with absolutely NO exercise (I had some serious post op complications but now I can get back into the swing of things!), no low carbing, and not being afraid to have a bite of cake or a few M&M's. It seems like a lot in terms of actual numbers- but at the same time I feel a little disappointed that it wasn't MOOOORE! I was hoping to have lost 50lbs by the 13th but I think I'm just going to have to accept that because of the diet choices I have made and will continue to make, my weight loss is going to be slow and steady as opposed to rapid and thrilling.

I still haven't dropped any clothing sizes yet but I can feel I have a little bit more room in certain shirts. Pants don't feel too much different yet :(

All in all I feel great. I can eat anything I feel like eating (except for rice. For whatever reason I am scared to death to even attempt to eat rice of any sort so I've completely axed that from my diet!) and have really good restriction. I can no longer sip Water during a meal because it REALLY hurts! At first it didn't bother me in the least so obviously as my sleeve heals I'm getting a greater and greater sensation of fullness.

How are my fellow Feb sleevers doing??

  6. The science geek in me needs to point out that your research method was majorly flawed. In order to get a more accurate result you should have split these bad food choices up over a few days. Soda one day. Nuggets a different day. KFC on another day, and Burger King on its own day. I think it's possible that the nuggets went down easily but you following meals were more difficult could have been in direct relation to the grease and heaviness of the nuggets. You could have made your sleeve work overtime by following that meal with more greasy meals- thus skewing your overall results.

  7. I don't think that Ashly meant that her stomach was just floating free with no attachment to her intestines or esophagus. I'm guessing that her meaning was that her stomach was not naturally tacked down with fatty tissue, ligaments, filaments, whatever the heck keeps our organs in the proper position. It would give the stomach enough 'wiggle room' to get tangled up in other organs (which is the 'taking over other organs' reference, I think). But the stomach wouldn't be able to go too far bc of the esophageal and intestinal connections, which provide the blood supply.

  8. My surgeon was Howard Simon- and I just want to say that he is seriously a rock star. I was hospitalized on and off almost the entire month of Feb and he was amazing through it all. He never once tried to minimize the pain I was in and ordered test after test after test. I had more leak tests in 1 month than most people have in a lifetime! He never gave up on finding an answer and that tenacity paid off. Now I have my moments when my sleeve will vehemently reject something I've eaten but 99% of the time I feel great. I can already eat pretty much anything I want just in small quantities and slowly but surely the weight is coming off.

For the first time in nearly 2 months I can honestly say I'm glad I got the surgery.

  9. I can't believe it but for the first time ever, in my entire life I felt full. I went 1 bite too far and I honest to God thought I was going to die right on the spot. I had the most horrific shoulder and neck pain, I couldn't stop shaking and I was making so much saliva I thought I was going to drown!

AND I'M THRILLED!!! It sucked, badly- I still sort of ache from it... But it's something I'll never forget. My sleeve is working! Before I could have eaten 5 times what I ate tonight and never feel satisfied. So my scale may not be budging but now I know without a doubt that my sleeve most definitely works!

  10. I had hell the first few weeks. I'm now just over 6 weeks out and I can get in 3 or 4 good sized gulps at a time without a bit of discomfort. I promise you it gets better- although when I was where you are I didn't buy it!! I didn't believe anyone that it would get better!
