Struggling With Food

Preop I ate like I was never going to eat again- I know that most people wouldn't agree, but I'm glad I did! I didn't go overboard, I even managed to lose a few lbs- but I spent many evenings at the Olive Garden or the drive thru for taco bell and McD's. I'm not advocating eating horribly, but I don't regret it for a second. -

I had surgery in the US and have a triple staple line. I've also had an MRI since surgery and my staples did not go ripping out of my body- since they're titanium there's really nothing to worry about. -
Ohmygod that's terrible. I'm so sorry- and you are so right. My oldest is 8 and I can't imaging him not having any pics to remember his mama by. If you don't mind my asking- was her passing WLS related? How are her kids handling it?

IMO- a triple line of staples is WAY safer and less likely to leak than suturing by hand. I wouldn't go with a surgeon who didn't staple. -

I drink with every single meal or I end up with this horrible choking sensation. I can not wait until I'm healed up a little more because there's a plate of chicken Alfredo at Olive Garden calling my name. No, I won't eat the breadsticks. Yes- I will eat the hell out of the Pasta. Well, as many bites as my sleeve will let me have anyway. -
We had the same surgeon at the same hospital! Aren't the patient rooms at community to die for?? They're like high end hotel rooms with nurse call buttons!

I don't really think that I can answer this with any deep certainty right now because I'm not even a full month away from surgery yet. Right now I hate what I've done to myself and my family... But I'm trying to trust the process and have faith that by 3 months postop I will be thrilled with my decision.

Worst- having bad post op complications and having to be hospitalized 3x. Best- losing almost 30lbs in 24 days.

It really just depends! I was on Prilosec long before my surgery so the guess is that the erosion was somehow related to an infection I got in my stomach less than a week after surgery. It is surprisingly painful and makes it pretty much impossible to eat and drink. -

You may have erosion. I got it a week out from surgery after getting a bad infection and it was only diagnosed through an endoscopy. I'm on Sucralfate 4x a day now along with Prilosec 20mg 2x daily and it has made a world of difference!! -

Not a chance in heck. I woke up from my my endo in so much pain they had to give me morphine through my IV. Thank god I was admitted so I didn't have to worry about getting home. -

I've never been able to get any of the oral stuff to work for me. Enemas work but are so awkward. The plain glycerin suppositories work for me in under 5 minutes without fail! -
I'm so excited to start shopping at places like Gap, Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie, H&M, Forever 21, etc.

Immediately. Dehydration can be deadly. It throws all of your electrolytes out of balance and can permanently damage your heart and kidneys. Do not wait! -
Already have a call in! I pretty much worship the ground my doc walks on so he's always my first stop- but I was curious to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

I'm 24 days out and this morning I woke up in soooooo much pain. Not pain from my surgical site- all over body pain. Bad enough that I'm considering busting out my pain meds from surgery. I've been lucky if I get in 30g of Protein every day and I'm wondering if the two are somehow related. Has anyone else experienced this?

Glycerin suppositories! Holy **** - LITERALLY! -
Yes!! Please go to the emergency room ASAP! I developed a fever and it ended up being an infection in the staple line of my sleeve. I was hospitalized 3x in 2 weeks- one of my stays lasted almost the entire week. Please please do not ignore this. Get medical attention immediately.
