  1. I have Kaiser and in order to have the surgery, they wanted my A1c done to 5.99. Well, it wasn't down but with some diet changes, my A1C did drop some and I had the surgery. It is normal for our blood sugar to spike after the trauma of surgery and that was the first time I've ever had insulin injections. After day 3, no more insulin was needed and my blood sugar was normal. Yayyyyyyyy! That was my first NSV.
  2. This is just another tool for our tool box to fine tune our losing. Eating 500 calories isn't fasting. In fact, it is highly recommended by some medical professionals. Doesn't the Catholic church have fasting days? Heck, I tried to eat 500 calories and found out that my best friend who was like a mom to me is dying. I ate more than 500 calories and I still lost 2 lbs! Yayyyyyyyyyyy! Now maybe it's a coincidence and maybe it's not. I will see tomorrow. I will take my 2 lb loss and keep going. It's just a tool and if we eat like this 1 to 2 times a day, it's no biggie. Gaining weight back and not being able to maintain is more damaging to me. There are so many different theories out there, who knows which one is truth. A theory is just someone's opinion. I only take into consideration studies that can be empirically validated. Dietician's are changing things every day. So I choose to do what my body responds too. IMO......... Keep rocking on!
  3. I do not like the word or concept of dieting. I look at it as a way of eating, period. I chose to eat proteins first, veggies, etc. I work on staying away from high glycemic carbs. I love the concept of the Paleo diet (there's that word again). This is something I must do to retain my healthy skinny body. If I gain weight, I'm jeopardizing my health and letting my loved ones down too. Besides, eating 500 calories is not fasting. It's just cutting back for 2 days if I choose. It's like a reboot to my system and it shrinks our tummy.
  4. I live in Orange County and was referred by Kaiser to dr Francis. However I wish I could of had dr mun in Harbor City.
  5. No after fasting my stomach was so empty as evidenced by the pics they gave me.
  6. I never gave them a chance to say those things I told them what I was doing and that was that.
  7. The fun part is seeing it grow back. At 20 months post opt my hair has grown about 6 inches I can see it when my hairdresser straightens my hair and blo dries it.
  8. Emilybites.com for lasagna cupcakes. So delicious and perfect portion size too.
  9. I just had a lasagna cupcake made with turkey. If made with ground beef, 160 calories. I wasn't able to stick with fasting today. My good friend has a neurological problem and COPD with 2 years to live. I just found this our today. But will be fasting tomorrow. This is just a hick up.
  10. Man  you are really ROCKIN that sleeve! Keep it up! So proud of you......
  11. It feels like that is just not enough.....Hummmmmm, is that my sticken thinkin going on? Time to kick by behind and think smaller portions. I can do this.

  13. I have horrible planning; I just calculated my calories and i have 200 calories left for dinner........Not good.....
  14. I am doing the same thing. I find myself getting grumpy because I can't eat for 12 hours so I'm hoping the 12 hours from dinner to breakfast will be enough of a break. Today I had a protein shake for breakfast.... For lunch a Chobani Greek Yogurt.... dinner a protein shake
  15. I miss everything....... this is what happens when I stop coming around so often.... Oh well, maybe it's because I'm really hungry and I'm hearing about El Patron...... I love people....
  16. I can't wait to see the final results! You ROCK girl!
  17. Going to have a protein shake for breakfast and will eat fish for dinner at around 7:30pm. Will drink a lot of fluids through out the day........Hope I can stick to it........
  18. So today is our fasting day! It already sounds torturous...... I will do my best today........
  19. Oh what about the s'mores or even cookies?
  20. Where's the cheeseburger?
  21. OMG! Is it me? I don't mean to offend you..... lol
  22. I know the my confidence has also sky rocketed too. I notice when men are looking at my body and I love it, before I would of hated it. This is life changing in so many ways. I have to work on some old baggage but love doing it. It is challenging and very rewarding at the same time. Great topic to share.
  23. I am addicted to sugar so I work on avoiding sugar at all costs these days. When I have BBQ sauce, it tastes too sweet so I will have ribs or chicken without any sauces on them. But I do love BBQ grilled foods.
  24. I believe that I will never be done with keeping my weight off. I see many people being consistent and successful. I am very thankful to you and others who share about fighting the fighting and preservance. So I'm just going to settle in and be careful of the foods I eat a long with portion control. We can do this!
