  1. Wow, I choose the sleeve bc of less complications and it's permanent. Lap band is not permanent and I knew it's not for me. I just knew that I was eating way too much food and that if I didn't do something, i was going to die. i was so unhappy. now I'm totally happy and loving my new body every day. Yayyyyyyyyyy for us sleevers! This is an addiction for me, getting skinny and eating healthy with exercise.
  2. I take my biotin daily. 10,000mcg. It works great. I also take silica too.
  3. I have been taking biotin since 4 weeks post op and my hair was really dry in the beginning. At around 6.5 months my hair started growing back and I stopped losing my hair too. Now, at 8 months my hair does get oily the next day. I use really expensive shampoo and I really don't want to wash my hair twice so I'm happy with the way it's going now. My hair is growing really really fast too. Yayyyy!
  4. I have had periods where I have no motivation to do anything. It's scarey and counterproductive for me. I am so goal orientated and have missed quite a few opportunities. What is your lack of motivation?
  5. To be totally honest, we all have our self talk that makes up excuses for us to prolong this procedure. But something has brought you to wanting to get this surgery. Whether it's to be in your child's life longer or to improve your health. The truth is, you will be both of these things, 1. living longer for your daughter and 2. the benefit of being healthier so that you can take care of your daughter. We are all scared of the unknown and we have been taught by our parents that it's not okay to be selfish! Well, let me tell you, it is not selfish. We have to take care of our health and needs before we can truthfully take care of others. When you feel better about yourself and are happier, your family will be much happier too. Today for the first time, my husband told me he loves my body and that I'm so much happier! Wow, the blew me away. I am so thankful I didn't run away from this procedure! This is life changing for the better. Relationships all around you will change and your daughter will reap the benefits.
  6. Wow! you have lost 18 lbs! That's great! Keep it up! Please try not to compare yourself to others, everyone loses at his/her own pace! Just keep eating healthy, protein first at all times and drink a lot of water.
  7. Yep, and so does my thrist! It is so confusing at times.
  8. I love what Note2bear has stated. What a fine man you are! Keep it up! Your a keeper all right!
  9. Jan, as I read your post my heart went out to you and I got so angry at that husband of yours. How dare him treat you with such disrespect and teach your son to treat you bad also. I hope you threw the candy bars at him! Have you thought about counseling to help with your emotions and dealing with a volatile husband! If this continues then there is a possibility of regaining weight due to emotional issues. I hope you don't let him sabotage the beautiful "GODDESS" in you from coming out. I know you posted this to help someone else, but your story is really sad also.
  10. This stage of the diet sucks! But the sleeve is a better choice for me than the lap band because it's permanent with less complications. You will do great so CONGRATS on your upcoming surgery date. Make sure you get up an walk in the hospital and sip, sip, sip your water.
  11. This is quite normal. your tummy is still swollen a bit. Are you able to get pureed foods in at all. Can you eat yogurt, sf puddings or jello, cottage cheese? If you can get a little more protein in, you will have a little more energy. If you are dehydrated, it does cause fatigue so please increase your fluid intake to at least 64oz a day. This is a target for you. You are doing great so keep it up, it does get easier.
  12. In my first week of surgery, it hurt when I drank water. So I learned to mix my water with some low calorie G2 Gatorade and it was so much easier to get fluids down. Your tummy is so swollen right now and really needs a lot of fluids in. This is such a chore but well worth the effort.
  13. Suchaprettyface: Girl you Rock! What an inspiration. This is the time to embrace the new you and perhaps be thankful that your ex did what he did. His misdoing is not about you, that's his crap. There was something lacking in the marriage to begin with. So now you have the opportunity to find what you really need in a man. It's not easy and it can be really painful, but it's time to take care of you and you have by choosing this procedure! Keep it up and Take in being hit on! Yayyyyy!
  14. CONGRATS and welcome to THE BIG LOSER'S BENCH! Keep walking and sipping and it gets better every day!
  15. Ali, this is a fabulous NSV! CONGRATS up Sexy woman! It gets even better from here on out.
  16. That's enough to scare the pant off someone! Hope you don't have anymore episodes like that one.
  17. Drink lots of gatorade and head for the hospital. Dehydration is nothing to foul around with! Dehydration can cause damage to your kidney's, your blood gets thicker and your blood pressure will drop. So please go get an IV to help get you pasted this really quick. Urgent care's can also give you an IV. Keep us posted. Thanks
  18. I know that a lot of people bought protein before the surgery and found out after the surgery, they hated it. I personally have the isopure vanilla and use it for cooking with. It tastes really great. But during the day, I love drinking the Premium Chocolate shake. I purchase it at Costco or Sam's club.
  19. I'm 5'6" and my BMI was 36. I was only allowed to have the surgery because of a co-morbidity of diabetes. This is the best thing that I have ever fought for.
  20. WHen you say enormous meal at Red Lobster, how much do you mean? It's probably nothing compared to before, so I wouldn't worry too much about that meal. I would think to only keep good things in the house that are on-plan to eliminate the temptation. You got this!! SophieJaneB: My meal was a 1/2 cup creamy potato and bacon Soup, 1/2 skewer of grilled shrimp, and 2 cheddar bay biscuits. I haven't eaten this much since pre sleeve time. I do try to keep unwanted foods out of my house and am constantly telling my adult children to not bring it home. i'm not hungry, i have that head hunger you were speaking of. keeping busy helps me not to eat, but the truth is if you want to eat that badly-you are going to find something. I really need to keep busy and drink more fluids. thanks kathy At night or when I get home from work I want to eat everything not nailed down. I like the idea of trying to stay busy. I feel a driving urge to put food in my mouth when my mind goes idle. Niahri I totally do the same thing, it's like a switch has flipped in my head and I start searching the cabinets and refrigerator. LOL. I think I'm going to force myself to go for a walk with our puppy. tried getting hubby to go last night, but he refused. Minckle a friend of mine is a Vision Board. A vision board is a terrific ideal! Thank you, I had completely forgot about visualizing what we want!! Thank you all for the wonderful feedback, I will have to put it in gear now.
  21. Hey, I am hoping to get some feedback from others. I have been realizing that I have a lot of head hunger going on. I think I'm hungry when I'm actually thirsty. My head hunger is like a giant dragon that's slaying me! I can talk myself into eating anything. Last night I had a humongous meal at the Red Lobster. Now my head hunger is telling me that I'm needed to go into maintenance and that it's ok to eat a little bit carbs. So how do you guys deal with your dragon (head hunger)?
  22. You have such a beautiful smile! Love it! I can see your new found confidence! you Rock Girl!
  23. Fortunately, every day will be better than the last day. This is an opportunity to focus on relaxation, healing, and relaxing. This will be a slight memory in the next 2 weeks. Make sure you are getting in as much water as you can and some protein. Thinking for you!
  24. Yes, patience can help you. Focus on healing, walking, sipping, and getting in some protein. you will get better and the weight is going to just fall right off! No need to obsess on the scale, it won't change anything. So sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride! You deserve it.
