We should strive daily to quit thinking "fast track" like we did in the past with diets. If we stop and change our thoughts to common sense ones like. Do the math, common sense tells us a much smaller pouch holds less now. Don't compare your results to others all bodies are unique in their own way...much to consider there like dna, blood type, health conditions, etc. I am glad mine did not come off faster than it did cause I don't ever want any if it back. When I did get a few lbs back, it was due to some meds I was testing for my neuropathy and fibromyalgia. AND I was nit following directions like I should have been. But lesson learned and am dedicated to losing my final 40 lbs. I don't worry about how long it will take because I know if make right choices for myself. My body will do it's job. I am in the pilot seat now. Another thing is changing my thought regarding this is a lifetime challenge, not an overnight miracle.

nousername got a reaction from homersmomma in Has anyone had the sleeve done with Dr. Mario Almanza in TJ MX?
Yes he did with my group. I am 2 yrs post op and have lost 100 lbs. With 40 to go. Every one heals differently. I have absolutely no complaints about Dr. Almanza, his staff, or his clinic. My hope husband, who did not have the surgery was allowed to stay with me through it all, except in surgery, he slept with me in my recovery bed. The staff also helped him find a dentist for his toothache...had a root canal and gold cap in one afternoon and 650.00. They also provided him with meals while we were their. We felt very safe...you are never left alone. They were very compassionate and clean. I know about his negative reviews but I can say if you look at doctors in the USA, I am quite positive many of them will have the same. You must choose for yourself. I also knew some people who also had there surgery there. I would do it all over agsin without one bit of doubt.

nousername got a reaction from leslie1958 in Anyone experiencing peripheral neuropathy ? (tingling hands and fingers)
Ironic I found this thread today. I saw many neurologist yesterday. I was diagnosed with PN a few years ago...not very serious at that time. I am 2 years post gastric sleeve and my PN has gotten worse. I have it mainly in my hands and feet. Also a normal bone density test 2 yrs ago. I recently dx with osteoporosis in my hands and hips. Not saying my wls was the cause at all. I mentioned this to my neuro and was told a big percentage of his patients that has PN has also had wls. I also have been dx woth fibromalgia. My rheumy tells me thst most of my pain in my body is due to the PN. I am having a MRI with contrast on monday of my lower back to see if the issue of straining to void is due to my lower spine or autonomic neuropathy.

I am almost 3 weeks post op and writing from my phone. I have been back in the hospital since tuesday. I have a kidney stone. My surgeon said I got dehydrated and it decided to move out. I am waiting on the urologist to put a stint in and get it out. Its very painful but they are giving me strong meds. I just wanted to update y'all on how I'm doing. Ps. Kidney stones are not caused by the sleeve but by my old diet. Just happened to move when I got a little dry. Drink your fluids!

I know many people list this information in sucess stories and such, but I was hoping to post a few specific quesions
How overweight were you/how old when you developed yor co-morbid conditions? I am thinking most specifically diabetes, but mention anything you encountered. Asthma, inflamation, hypertension, hormone or lympic conditions, skin conditions, infertility, back pain, pain in legs, sleep apnea, etc.
When were you able to notice improvement that went from emergent to noticeable, daily consistent improvement?
Are you doing better, or did the condition reverse?
Feel free to include anything I forgot...

I sure hope we see relief. That is the major reason I am looking to have this done. I started a 335 and a BMI of 49.6. I have degenerative disk and joint, arthritis, fibromyalgia, Migraines, TMJ, damaged rotator cuff, torn meniscus cartilage, carpel tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, bursitis, neuropathy,Reynauds disease, dumping syndrome, colitis, heavy periods, heart arrthymea, high blood pressure and stress incontinence. I am 34 and have been suffering as long as 13 years with some disorders. I'm just taking a wild chop at this, but I would say if losing a 100 pounds doesn't help me, then nothing will. But even with all these problems, my insurance still has not approved my procedure. It was submitted Oct. 26 and is still "pending". They want more paperwork on my "condition". Blah blah! They just don't want to pay up.

I had high blood pressure for years. I was on 3 different types of medication that occasionally actually worked. I had my surgery on August the 1st. My surgeon said he wanted me to stay off the medication during the first month after surgery and just monitor my blood pressure.
I am thrilled to say I am 4 months out and I have never had to take another blood pressure pill since my surgery. My blood pressure is totally normal for the first time in years.
I was 3 points away from being diabetic. My blood sugar is now in the normal range.
My cholesterol was 199 before surgery. 4 months later it is 105.
I used to struggle walking up the steps at my place of business. Now I can run up them and not even be winded.
It is amazing the difference in just 4 months.
My one and only regret is that I didn't do this when I was younger.

I had daily pain in my knee & foot for more than a year. Now, less than 2 weeks out, I have NONE! It is amazing how 31 lbs can change something so dramatically!
Also, BP has been around 130/90 for about a year & I had it checked on Friday & it was 102/75

I was glad to read your post. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 15 with Dr. Almanza. He was recommended by a dear friend of mine who went down in Oct for the vertical sleeve.
    Thanks so much~!
