Normal??? 7 Days Post Op & Starting "mushy" Foods
I agree to stop when you start feeling full. I'm not sure I agree with trying to wait 4 hours between meals at 7 days post op. . . further out, yes! Your body is still healing. As Chandra12 said make sure you are getting plenty of fluids (48 oz of Water minimum) and that you are eating items high in Protein. Also don't drink 1/2 hour before or after a "meal" (longer if that's what your doctor recomends). Following these rules will help you feel fuller longer.

Question
I am 4 months post op and also have not had a fill. I expect to get one at my next visit in mid September. My PA uses a questionaire to help us decide if I need a fill or not. It helps you to figure out if you're in the green zone or not. Just like Mis73 said...it depends...great advice to base your decision on!

Mirena? To Take Out Or Not?
I also have Mirena had surgery, no problem.

Support
Having a history of depression along with a judgmental, non supportive parent I would suggest you take advantage of any psych offered through your surgeon/clinic. The support you can receive here is great but in no way can replace the medical help from a qualified professional. With that said, GOOD FOR YOU! Having surgery is not an easy decision to make and there will be struggles with old habits that having the band will not take away. The most common regret I've read about on here is not having the surgery sooner. With two - two year olds this is also a great gift you are giving them - a healthy mom!

Back To Reality...
Congratulations on your wedding! I think you are right about air travel, stress and dehydration being factors. While in Hawaii did you travel to different altitudes (volcano's)? That may have also affected it. I was in Hawaii last summer (pre-band) and I know that my rings were generally tighter so I would think we may also be more likely to retain Water when traveling.

3Rd Fill Need Help
I also have been dealing with this lately. I was banded April 13th and haven't had a fill yet. Up until the last week or so I have been able to overcome those temptations. Now I find myself eating when I am not hungry. If I keep myself busy and away from food it's easy to avoid the temptation but that has not been easy to do the past couple of weeks. When I get back to my regular school schedule in a couple of weeks (I'm a special ed aid) I expect that to help a lot. Until then I have a feeling I will be fighting myself quite a bit. I go back to see my surgical PA on September 16th and think I will be getting a fill.

Would You Do It Again
I am 4 months post op and can take "gulps". Now it's just Water, Sobe 0, Vitamin Water 0, or Crystal Light instead of Coke Zero. The first few days post op I kept my drinks to 1-2 oz at a time and gradually increased them over the next few weeks. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach, I'm still working on that. Sometimes I take larger bites than I should but as long as I chew, chew, chew, I'm fine.

Snacks On Pre-Op Diet?
All docs/nutritionist are different. Sorry you have to wait 3 days in to your pre op diet to have your pre op appointment. I also was allowed to have SF Jello, SF popsicles and Crystal Light.

Did You Have A Catheter During Your Surguery ?
No. They made me go before surgery. Surgery was only an hour or less.

Not The Daughter My Mother Wished I Would Be
If your insurance requires a psych consult please take advantage of it! As mentioned above your mom has the problem not you. Unfortunately you have been the "target" of your mom's problems. I have always had a good relationship with my mom but not so with my dad. I remember my dad once saying "You know you'd be pretty damn good looking if you lost some weight." My dad also has weight issues and paid for me to do a weight loss program when I was 16/17 (I'm 44 now). I feel like I did it for him. Now it is for me and my health!

Pills
Early on post op I did have to crush my pills. Talk to your doctor before hand. I had some that were extended release so they had to change my prescription so that I was able to crush them.

New Bras?
I was wearing a 46DD before losing weight and was just going down in inches not cup sizes when I bought new ones. After doing some gardening this spring where I was bending over a lot I noticed I had 3 boobs instead of 2! I went for a professional fitting at a store that works with post mastectomy patients, nursing mothers and hard to find sizes. I walked in wearing a 36DD and out wearing a 32F! She would only sell me one since she knows I still have more weight to loose. It was expensive but she also gave me a sports bra as a gift! The woman who did my fitting lives in the same small town as I do. I saw her last week and she could tell I had lost more weight since my fitting (about 6 weeks ago), she thinks it's about time for my next size.

Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......
Thanks for this post. I am 4 months post op, have never had a fill and never pb'ed so it's good to have a reminder that it can happen at anytime for unknown reasons.

Starting To Get Freaked Out:(
Before my surgery at the age of 43, I had had my gallbladder taken out (large open incision) at 23, a C-section at 27 and surgery on my wrist after smashing it when I was 35. I remember talking to my surgeon in the OR when I was having my wrist surgery and telling him I was nervous. He told me he would be worried if I wasn't nervous. If had to have a psych eval before being approved you may want to contact that doctor. It is normal to have anxiety but if it continues to cause you to be sick you may want to talk through your anxiety with a professional. Best of luck to you!

Random Thought
Everyone has their reasons for either keeping their WLS quiet or being open about it. I also have chosen to be open about it. I also feel if I can help a single person in their weight loss journey it's worth it. Just today I had some people asking about my weight loss and think they may even be considering WLS themselves. I also feel it helps to keep me more accountable since people know about the surgery. I respect those who choose to keep quiet but I would not have been comfortable with that decision myself.

What Should I Expect?

Congrats & Good Luck with the meds!- Revelation While Cleaning Out Closet
I forgot to mention those sweaters that I bagged up for donation were my smaller sweaters I bought last winter, now they are too big!- Revelation While Cleaning Out Closet
I've been doing the same. I had put away sweaters when the weather got warm and yesterday I bagged them up to be donated. I have also been buying a few sweaters on clearance and putting them away for the colder weather. It's going to be great having a new wardrobe when the weather gets cooler!- Embarrassed But Finally Got A Fill...and Need Advice
I'm glad to hear that the "mean" NP is no longer there!- Creamy Soup Recipes!!!
I just bought low fat/low sodium cream soups at the store but did not eat the mushroom/celery/potato's that were in them. I was too afraid of anything solid!- What Should I Expect?
You didn't mention how old your boys are, the younger they are the longer it may take for you to be able to take care of them. I had surgery on Friday and attended church that Sunday. I'm Lutheran but did not participate in the "Lutheran Aerobics" that week. I stayed seated for most of the service. My pastor and many other members were aware that I had surgery. If you have communion every week - wait a few weeks before you try. As I mentioned my pastor was aware so I went forward for a blessing each week instead of taking communion. Everyone's recovery is different. Listen to your body about whether or not to go to the parties. If you do be sure to take it easy and relax. - Got To Add A New Bead!!
