  1. I noticed the most the morning after my surgery. That was actually the worse part for me!
  2. It made my vision slightly worse. My prescription was 4.75 and it went up to 5.00. I'm hoping that eventually it will get better than 4.75, but I am comforted that my dr. said it will at least go back to what it was.
  3. Thanks, Sassygirl! My dr. seemed to think it was only temporary - he told me to keep my old prescription contacts and only order a box of the new prescription because my eyesight will bounce back to what it was. Ahhh, to have perfect vision!
  4. For the last 3 weeks my right eye has been getting blurrier and blurrier. I wear contacts and had just gone for my annual check-up and new contacts three months ago. It was getting so bad that I was having trouble seeing when I drove. I went to my eye dr. to get rechecked and just happen to mention that I had the sleeve surgery (because he asked about my high blood pressure which I'm no longer on) and his head whipped around - "You had surgery? How much weight have you lost in what amount of time?" I told him, and he said that's why my eyesight changed! He said when you dramatically drop weight, it can affect your eyesight, usually temporarily. How weird is that? Anyone else heard of that?
  5. Hi Stacey - don't be anxious! You'll do great, and the changes to your relationship with food with get easier and easier. The three weeks of liquids after surgery will be easier because you'll be healing and liquids is mostly all you'll want. Good luck and God bless!!
  6. I'm five weeks out and eat about 500 calories a day. That's about all I can get in. Like Foxbins, I'm not hungry at all, I just eat when I know I'm supposed to...I think that when I can eat regular foods again (in two weeks) my calories may go up, but I can only see it going up to 600-800, at least for a long while.
  7. Hi! I didn't have to stop before my surgery, but after surgery I was told to use another form of birth control because the pill doesn't work the same with our new tummies (I was told why, but can't remember now!).
  8. Thanks, Joiebean! I just bought it using your link.
  9. Felicia's right, the Premiers are 11 oz...this is what I drink even though the ready-to-drink options are more expensive. It's the only one I've liked, and I've tried powders. And I only like the chocolate. I guess I'm a little picky! :/
  10. Holly, I cried and cried when I read this...I lost my mom unexpectedly, too, and she was everything to me. I can feel your pain. No one loves you like you mom! Since you are forgiven by the Lord and by your mom, I pray that you'll forgive yourself. Thank you for this blog entry! It was beautiful and heart-wrenching, but also a lovely tribute to your mom. xo
  11. I like to take cottage cheese and soups.
  12. Wow, Lilee, you look amazing!! It's hard to believe that pix two and three are the same weight - you look so much smaller in pic #3!! Your face looks tiny! Congrats!
  13. Wow!! You look amazing! Congatulations, and thanks for being an inspiration.
  14. Hi! I never considered the bypass or DS. It seems like there are so many more complications with those two surgeries compared to the sleeve. At my pre-op classes, the RN shared that 1 in 200 die from bypass, while 1 in 1000 for the sleeve. I also didn't want to deal with all of the malabsorption issues.
  15. Hi! No, no drain. I was glad about that! If you have any other questions in the future, I'd be happy to answer them. My email is darmarram@yahoo.com.
  16. I was sleeved by Dr. Kim at Kaiser West Los Angeles...he did a fabulous job. I'm sure Dr. Casillas is great, too.
  17. I totally agree with Sassygirl about the anti-depressants. I went to my dr. before surgery because I was having horrible PMS (the moody part, not the pain), and originally asked her for Yaz...she instead gave me Prozac to take the two weeks before my cycle began, and it was like a miracle. I very, very rarely deal with the mood swings and anger anymore. Check into that! I don't suffer from depression.
  18. It took several hours... I took gas-x strips and walked around for about 15 minutes (it was 12:30 a.m.!), then is seemed to break up enough for the pain to stop and I went back to bed. When I woke up at around 7:00ish, it was gone.
  19. I hope it's gas! I had that happen to me a couple of nights ago, and it turned out to be gas...
  20. Oh my gosh, Bedhead! You've been through a lot. What was the pain? Hugs to you, honey...I'm so sorry you're going through all of this. Please keep us updated...
  21. My sense of smell is incredibly heightened! Some things do smell bad to me mostly because they can be overwhelming. I'm glad to hear that this goes away eventually!
  22. I'm having the same exact issue...I'm 2 1/2 weeks out, and am trying to start the puree stage, but getting in food and protein supplements and liquids is impossible, and it's getting me down. I also have a pain in the middle of my back! I thought it might be gas, or the way I slouch on my couch sometimes. Yesterday I managed to eat a little pureed chicken salad and two tiny bites of green beans, but because I ate the food, I wasn't able to get my second protein drink in...so I only ended up with about 40 grams of protein. I like longer-life's advice about not advancing too quickly.
  23. I was sleeved on 2/2, and am going back to work on Tuesday, 2/21, so I'll have been out about 2 1/2 weeks. I did request that my dr's note to return to work state that I can only work four hours a day for my first week back since I imagine it was be exhausting. Other than being tired, though, I feel physically ready to go back. I'm a secretary, so other than getting up and down out of a chair often, I don't do any heavy lifting or exert too much energy.
  24. Oh my gosh, poor baby! But thank God there was no leak (hence no surgery)! I will keep praying that you get well soon, and that the antibiotics work quickly. We've all been so worried about you! Take care, sweetie!
  25. Oh, honey...I'm praying! Keep us updated as much as possible!
