  1. Wow, that would have been so disappointing! I'm glad they got you in quickly. I guess doctors get sick, too. The pain should dissipate as the days go by...that pain sounds normal to me. Water, at first, is very difficult. Just keep drinking sips most of the day. Eventually you'll be able to take bigger drinks and get more water in. At the beginning, I would be so relieved to go to bed at night to be able to stop sipping! It gets so much easier and much more normal as time goes by. Missing toast with your egg isn't crazy! It took me about a month to get over my cravings. I honestly at this point don't miss anything from my former life - I'm SO happy with how my eating is now and my weight loss and how good I feel! Take care!
  2. Hi! I would try chicken (thighs or breast - just make sure to dip the breast in something to moisten it up a bit), salmon (and other fish), shrimp and lean ground turkey.

Hi there, I felt pain behind that incision for about a month...bending down could often cause pain, but I could lay down flat without issue. I'd give it another week. Good luck!
  4. You look absolutely gorgeous!!!! Congratulations!!!!
  5. Praying.... So horrible...why do people do things like this? I'm sad and shocked at the senselessness...
  6. When I was nauseous, sf popsicles were my miracle cure-all for it.
  7. I struggled with major head hunger for my first month post-op, and now rarely struggle at all, so there's light at the end of the tunnel! It was those darn commercials for me, too! Hang in there
  8. Totally normal. The pain should subside by day 3, but the gurgling lasts for a while.
  9. Ah, that's a great question! Now that I can't turn to food for comfort, I'm finding that I need people more than I thought. That's one reason I love this site!
  10. I have SO much more joy! I'm more comfortable physically, more confident and have more peace about my health and appearance. I didn't start to feel better until after my surgery. It was hard for me to look ahead and anticipate how great I feel now.
  11. Hi there, I didn't stop feeling tired until about six weeks...until then, I just got as much sleep as I could. How much Protein is there in the Slim Fast's? If you can, try having two Premier's a day for a total of 60 grams of protein. You had pretty major surgery, so don't get too down on yourself...hang in there, I promise it gets better!!!!!
  12. How exciting!!! Remember that as hard as it is at first, it gets SO much better!!! You look ready! Praying for a quick recovery.
  13. I did the same thing! I packed a ton of stuff, and only ended up using my toothbrush and toothpaste and contact solution. After my surgery, I was out of it until the next morning, so I didn't even use my Kindle to read! My hubby is having surgery on Tuesday, so I think I'll pick up some biotene spray for him - I didn't know that existed, and the dry mouth was horrible! Thanks for that!
  14. Wow, great post! The best part for me is not being controlled by food, too...it's like a miracle. Congrats, Patrick! Keep us updated on your amazing progress!
  15. Congratulations! It's a great feeling, isn't it?!
  16. Can you have broth? Sometimes, in my liquid phase, I was just sick of sweet stuff. I liked chicken and beef broth, and if you get regular soup and drain the contents (leaving just the broth), it tastes better than a can of broth. Hang in there! It's all worth it!!
  17. It's very hard when others are eating normally around you, but try to think about how tender your new tummy is, and snacking on the wrong foods could actually hurt you. Sip liquids a lot, and have some sf popsicles and pudding as snacks. Good luck, I know it's hard, but it gets easier! I'm at five months post-op, and I can eat just about anything. Next time you'll be able to snack a bit more, I'm sure.
  18. Oh my gosh, Patrick, I'm SO glad you posted this!! It's SO true!!!! I'm still laughing!!!!!
  19. It's amazing, isn't it? I'm still amazed at how little I can eat and be full, and I'm five months out! It's wonderful.
  20. Hi! In my opinion, binging doesn't mean that you're not ready. I binged quite a few times before surgery, too. But it is important to wean yourself off of the binging behavior as much as you can (I know, it's hard!). One important reason is that you really do need to lose some weight before surgery and exercise to make your surgery recovery easier. Also, most doctors tell you to lose weight before surgery, and I've even heard of surgeries being canceled because of weight gain. One bit of advice I would give is to not try to make all the changes all at once...do one at a time until you're comfortable with the change, then move on to the next. Especially since you have six months to do it in. This is the absolute best thing I've ever done for myself, and I was a binge eater...it's really a good thing that you have the time to make sure this is the right decision for you. Good luck!!!!
  21. Whoo hoo!! That's wonderful! I'll be on a plane at the end of July. Looking forward to that feeling!
  22. So sorry to hear that! I haven't had that problem, but I've read other posts where people have had their Dr. change their ppi to a different one, and they've felt better...maybe you can call your Dr. and ask for advice? Waiting until July 3rd will be too uncomfortable!
  23. I totally agree with tlaff79...at six weeks out I still had low energy, but started adding a few more carbs and felt better. For me, my energy seemed to come back all in one day...it was weird! One day I was dealing with the low energy, and the next day I was a bundle of energy! And I've been fine since. That happen at about six weeks for me. Hang in there!
  24. Hi! I've had those days! In my opinion, it's perfectly fine if you don't want to eat, just make sure that you get your protein drinks and water in...some days I just feel like having my protein drinks and not much else. Those days aren't as frequent as you get farther out in your journey. Take care!
