  1. Hi! In my opinion, binging doesn't mean that you're not ready. I binged quite a few times before surgery, too. But it is important to wean yourself off of the binging behavior as much as you can (I know, it's hard!). One important reason is that you really do need to lose some weight before surgery and exercise to make your surgery recovery easier. Also, most doctors tell you to lose weight before surgery, and I've even heard of surgeries being canceled because of weight gain. One bit of advice I would give is to not try to make all the changes all at once...do one at a time until you're comfortable with the change, then move on to the next. Especially since you have six months to do it in. This is the absolute best thing I've ever done for myself, and I was a binge eater...it's really a good thing that you have the time to make sure this is the right decision for you. Good luck!!!!

    Huge Nsv For Me!

Whoo hoo!! That's wonderful! I'll be on a plane at the end of July. Looking forward to that feeling!
  3. So sorry to hear that! I haven't had that problem, but I've read other posts where people have had their Dr. change their ppi to a different one, and they've felt better...maybe you can call your Dr. and ask for advice? Waiting until July 3rd will be too uncomfortable!

    Very Low Energy & Weak

I totally agree with tlaff79...at six weeks out I still had low energy, but started adding a few more carbs and felt better. For me, my energy seemed to come back all in one day...it was weird! One day I was dealing with the low energy, and the next day I was a bundle of energy! And I've been fine since. That happen at about six weeks for me. Hang in there!
  5. Hi! I've had those days! In my opinion, it's perfectly fine if you don't want to eat, just make sure that you get your protein drinks and water in...some days I just feel like having my protein drinks and not much else. Those days aren't as frequent as you get farther out in your journey. Take care!

    Salads

I started salads at three months, and love them...my sleeve does really well with salad. I waited so long because I had heard so many people say that salad didn't sit well...it seems to be different for everyone and may just be one of those things that you have to try in a small amount and see how it sits with you. Congratulations on your loss so far and quitting smoking!

    Weighing In?

Hi there! I've been very careful about weighing in because, like you, I don't want to be obsessed. I do weigh in once a week, but very rarely in between. It's inspiring to me to weigh once a week.

5 Days Post Op And Starving

I'm not sure if this is what you're going through, but I had a ton of "head hunger" for the first month...I wanted food (in my head) so much! In my case, it went away. I've also heard that if you're not on an acid reducer, it can feel like hunger.

    I Miss

I'm with Nancy! I'm almost five months out, and barely remember that time...you'll have it again soon, just in a tiny, happy amount.

    Last Meal

My hubby's plan is In and Out...that's his favorite! I would vote for In and Out because after surgery, you won't really want a burger anymore. Congratulations, and good luck with the liquid diet!
  12. Lacie, you and I had surgery about the same time...I'm one week from being five months out. I've had so much fun following you since our surgeries! The list is wonderful and so accurate. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself, and I'm SO glad I did it even though the first few weeks were very hard. You look amazing!!!!

    Couples Getting The Sleeve Together

Hi! I was sleeved in February, and my hubby will be sleeved in early August...I think it will be so much easier when he can eat the way I eat...poor guy, I almost never cook anything other than fish and chicken! He's a good sport, though. I'm really looking forward to having him sleeved, too!
  15. How exciting, Patrick!! I'm four months post-op, and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself...congratulations, and enjoy the ride.

The Horrible Feeling That You Are Done

Sassygirl, your weight loss is amazing! Congratulations. And thanks for the stall encouragement!
  17. Hi there, One piece of advice that I got on this message board (and my favorite!) when I was first sleeved was "the first month sucks." The first month is hard with all of the healing and low energy and especially the emotional turmoil. The first month I missed binging so much I would cry. But it goes away! It really does. I'm almost four months post-op, and after the first month, everything changed for me. I had energy back (full energy after about six weeks), I wasn't struggling with the emotional stuff hardly at all and my new lifestyle was becoming normal. Now I feel SO wonderful - you'll feel great, too. Be patient and give your body time to heal. Take care!!

Where Are All The Young Men?

ha, ha, massindex! That was funny. I would love to hear from more men...it makes for interesting posting!
  19. Thanks! I'll let my husband know - he'll be having surgery in June. You've done amazing, Mr. Worm!! I always enjoy reading your posts.
  20. Hi there, Since you take in so little food, they want all of the water/liquid out of your sleeve before you eat so that you can get the maximum amount of food in...the reason you need to wait 30 minutes after is because liquid can push the food out of you sleeve quickly, causing you to be hungry sooner. It's hard, I agree.
  21. I ate baked potatoes (the insides only) at about 4 weeks out with butter spray and lite sour cream...unfortunately potatoes don't sit too well with me, so I tend to avoid them now.
  22. For the last 3 weeks my right eye has been getting blurrier and blurrier. I wear contacts and had just gone for my annual check-up and new contacts three months ago. It was getting so bad that I was having trouble seeing when I drove. I went to my eye dr. to get rechecked and just happen to mention that I had the sleeve surgery (because he asked about my high blood pressure which I'm no longer on) and his head whipped around - "You had surgery? How much weight have you lost in what amount of time?" I told him, and he said that's why my eyesight changed! He said when you dramatically drop weight, it can affect your eyesight, usually temporarily. How weird is that? Anyone else heard of that?

This Was A New One For Me!

newtonya - no, not yet...I'm still wearing the stronger contact prescription... :/ It's weird, isn't it?!
