What's Your Favorite Drinking Receptacle?
Darla5060 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying to find new ways to get my water in...what's your favorite thing to drink from? I've heard the Camelbak water bottles are good - has anyone tried ot, and how do you like it? Any and all ideas would be appreciated! -
What's Your Favorite Drinking Receptacle?

Thanks, everyone! Such great ideas! I'm going to try them all and see which one fits for me. Beth, I checked out your bottle on Amazon (thanks for the link). It looks great! I ordered one. -
My First Food Since Surgery! Gimme Refried Beans!
Darla5060 replied to GoState's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha, ha! You made me laugh!! I remember my first taste of food, too...it was wonderful! And it only gets better and better. Take care!! -
Wow, that would have been so disappointing! I'm glad they got you in quickly. I guess doctors get sick, too. The pain should dissipate as the days go by...that pain sounds normal to me. Water, at first, is very difficult. Just keep drinking sips most of the day. Eventually you'll be able to take bigger drinks and get more water in. At the beginning, I would be so relieved to go to bed at night to be able to stop sipping! It gets so much easier and much more normal as time goes by. Missing toast with your egg isn't crazy! It took me about a month to get over my cravings. I honestly at this point don't miss anything from my former life - I'm SO happy with how my eating is now and my weight loss and how good I feel! Take care!

Hi! I would try chicken (thighs or breast - just make sure to dip the breast in something to moisten it up a bit), salmon (and other fish), shrimp and lean ground turkey.

Hi there, I felt pain behind that incision for about a month...bending down could often cause pain, but I could lay down flat without issue. I'd give it another week. Good luck!

Praying.... So horrible...why do people do things like this? I'm sad and shocked at the senselessness...

When I was nauseous, sf popsicles were my miracle cure-all for it.

I struggled with major head hunger for my first month post-op, and now rarely struggle at all, so there's light at the end of the tunnel! It was those darn commercials for me, too! Hang in there

Totally normal. The pain should subside by day 3, but the gurgling lasts for a while.

Overcoming The Enemy Of Recovery: Isolation.

Ah, that's a great question! Now that I can't turn to food for comfort, I'm finding that I need people more than I thought. That's one reason I love this site! -
Correlation Between Obesity & Joy~
Darla5060 replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have SO much more joy! I'm more comfortable physically, more confident and have more peace about my health and appearance. I didn't start to feel better until after my surgery. It was hard for me to look ahead and anticipate how great I feel now. -
Surgery day for my cute hubby! Surgery is at 3:00, leaving for the hospital in an hour...I would covet your prayers!

17 Days Post Op And I'm So Tired!
Darla5060 replied to The New Ms. Perry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I didn't stop feeling tired until about six weeks...until then, I just got as much sleep as I could. How much Protein is there in the Slim Fast's? If you can, try having two Premier's a day for a total of 60 grams of protein. You had pretty major surgery, so don't get too down on yourself...hang in there, I promise it gets better!!!!! -
I'm Ready...but No One Is Ready For Me! :-(

How exciting!!! Remember that as hard as it is at first, it gets SO much better!!! You look ready! Praying for a quick recovery. -
Of All The Crap You Took To The Hospital What Did You Actually Use?
Darla5060 replied to TinkerToyz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did the same thing! I packed a ton of stuff, and only ended up using my toothbrush and toothpaste and contact solution. After my surgery, I was out of it until the next morning, so I didn't even use my Kindle to read! My hubby is having surgery on Tuesday, so I think I'll pick up some biotene spray for him - I didn't know that existed, and the dry mouth was horrible! Thanks for that! -

I Really Need Advice So Please Help Me :) I Feel Really Bad.
Darla5060 replied to Karen2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have broth? Sometimes, in my liquid phase, I was just sick of sweet stuff. I liked chicken and beef broth, and if you get regular soup and drain the contents (leaving just the broth), it tastes better than a can of broth. Hang in there! It's all worth it!! -
It's very hard when others are eating normally around you, but try to think about how tender your new tummy is, and snacking on the wrong foods could actually hurt you. Sip liquids a lot, and have some sf popsicles and pudding as snacks. Good luck, I know it's hard, but it gets easier! I'm at five months post-op, and I can eat just about anything. Next time you'll be able to snack a bit more, I'm sure.

Oh my gosh, Patrick, I'm SO glad you posted this!! It's SO true!!!! I'm still laughing!!!!!

It's amazing, isn't it? I'm still amazed at how little I can eat and be full, and I'm five months out! It's wonderful.
