    November 22 with Dr Aceves

Kandy, I so did check out your vlog. OMG you're hilarious! I loved it. Here's me to everything you said: "Oh yeah...so true...me too...mmm hmm...yep." Good stuff. Sending vibes for you, sleeve sister. :welldoneclap:

    New Chick On The Block!

I'm pretty new here too and I'm so glad I found these wonderful people. Support, encouragement, knowledge, etc. is always here. It's amazing. So welcome from another newbie and Texan too!
  3. Hi everyone. You have all worked your magic and just reading the boards convinced me to go for it! What inspiring stories! I'm going alone to Mexico but it sounds like it will be fine. Glad to with you! Cheers!
  4. I'm going to Dr. Aceves for my Dec 1 surgery and I'm going alone. I'm looking forward to it. I won't have to share the remote!
  5. Suzanne, thank you so much. I may be in touch very soon as I'm going alone, and soon! Yay!

    Any Sleevers That Are Vegan?

I am vegan. I am on my preop diet, which is high Protein and I'm doing it easily. There are many vegan protein powders and Gardein products are vegan meat substitutes. There are many more, of course, just a Google away. Post Op will be fine because it's easy to do protein, veggies, and fruit. Even the first month clears, full liquids, mushies phases are easily done vegan. My doctor has said they will feed me vegan everything in the hospital, no problem. I wouldn't be getting sleeved if I couldn't stay vegan. I've been one for 25 years and I'm in excellent health, (with the exception of not being able to lose weight due to hypothyroidism). Other than severe calorie restriction, which I can't do long term without restriction, the weight will remain because of this issue. Going vegan is easy if you believe in it strongly. If you don't it's a bit more challenging because you're always working around the system. Don't be dissuaded. Go vegan! The animals and the planet and your body will love you for it!
  7. I recently had an unrelated surgery and was worried about the same thing. Before I let the anesthesiologist do anything I asked him if there's a chance I will feel everything and not be able to move. (I'd heard the horror stories, too) He said that one of the drugs they give you has the effect of amnesia so no matter what happens, you won't remember a thing when you wake up. As far as the possibility of awareness, he said it is exceedingly rare but does happen. And they know the second it happens because the monitors go crazy from your physiological reaction to this, and they can fix it almost instantly. Don't worry, but if you are still worried talk to the anesthesiologist before you go under. I did and felt great relief after doing so.
  8. MsLady, I'm so excited for you! And since I'm right behind you (Dec 1st) I'll be all over your vlog. I find myself getting more excited each day, with only minor freak outs here and there. Enjoy the excitement and the dreaming of things that WILL come true! Here's wishing you a safe and happy first step to fabulous!!
  9. I'm in Allen, TX. Getting sleeved on Dec 1. Love this thread. Hope to meet some Texas sleevers in person soon!
  10. Lissa, thank you for your reassuring words. I booked my plane ticket (Mexico surgery) no less than five minutes ago. I was having the typical "can't turn back now" anxiety attack. Of course, I'll have another crack at that when they wheel me away. Honestly, this forum is a sanity saver. Thanks again!
  11. My surgery date is December 1st. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so worried. About everything. The reason I know I'll go through with it is because I have support on this board. Reading about everyone's experiences gives me peace when I need it. We are all the same.
  12. Its great to hear from fellow sleevers. It's easy to feel like you're a crazy person for doing this until you get in touch with everyone here on the forums. I don't tell people so I can stay positive and not have to spend energy reassuring other people about MY life and decisions. Exhausting. I look forward to watching your journey since we're doing this around the same time. Feel free to PM me anytime!

    December sleevers!

I'm December 1st with Dr. Aceves in Mexico. Since it looks like I'm first to go please ask me anything you'd like after the big day! Congrats everyone!
  14. I'll bring my camera! I'd never go there if it weren't for this forum. Tell anyone else you're going to Mexico for surgery and they *freak*
  15. Hi everyone! I'm getting sleeved by Dr. Aceves on Dec 1st. Going alone AND keeping it a secret! Would love to meet some DFW buddies who "get me."

    5% of 1%?

Count me in! (as a rare one, that is) I'm atheist AND a vegan AND no kids...and as of Dec 1st a sleever! Getting rarer all the time. It's my first day on and I'm happy to be here with all you fine people! Cheers!
