I know!! They're so insistent! It's like a little Italian grandmother, "mangia, mangia, mangia!!"

Has anyone been taking fiber supplements (Fiber Choice, Benefiber, etc)? I'm still a month and half from surgery, but I'm starting to buy all of my vitamins and supplements now. Is it something I should look into? Thank you!!

Places to get liquid protein samples
Dania621 replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thank you for this information. I ordered the samples from Syntrax. It's $13 w/ free shipping. And I just ordered the Unjury Sampler. I really don't like shakes, but the ones that are similar to juice, I feel will be a better consistency for me. Thanks again!! -
I'm pre-op, and I'm starting to eat greek yogurt. I want to get myself accustomed to eating it. I was reading that a drizzle of honey and a dash of cinnamon might make it more palatable. So my question is: can we have honey? If so, when are we allowed to have it? And, I should add that I'm not a big fan of honey...I actually have never had it, so it's not like I would go overboard with it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you for that info...I just think I might need a touch of honey to make it more palatable. I'm such a texture freak, that I've never had yogurt...or oatmeal...or soup...or shakes. They're too......thick. But I'm getting little hints and tricks to get around that.

Hello @JaSleeve: I just got approved. However, I have to leave the country in December and I'm not getting back til January 7th. I'll start the fast on the 8th and get operated two weeks from that. I'm going to the Dominican Republic so I didn't really want to be there post-op. My diet choices would be seriously limited. And my little grandmother would be try to force-feed me!

Hey everyone! I'm still pre-op and I need as much info as I can. I emailed the nutritionist at my doctor's office and she said, and I quote, "One Multi with Iron, and two Calcium citrates - plus adequate Protein (60 grams daily) and hydration. Don't skip fruits, veggies and whole grains - every day." Now, I'm thinking that getting the fruits and veggies and whole grains would be difficult for the liquid and mushy stage. What do y'all think? I was thinking of taking a multi, iron, Biotin, B50, Methyl B12 (sublingual) and calcium citrate. Is that too much? Or just right? Thank you!

Me too!! I've been researching and reading stuff. Sometimes reading too much can be a hindrance because some info contradicts other info. So right now, I'm getting my supplements and vitamins in order. Once I get those purchased, then I'm going to start looking for protein shakes (in small volumes, of course). I'm just looking to water them down as much as possible so they're not too thick. That way I can trick myself into thinking that I'm drinking milk. Anything that's too thick is likely to make me gag.

I'm going to do three liters a day. That's two fillings of my Poland Spring bottle. And I'm also doing exercise because that's supposed to help prior to the surgery to help the healing process. I'm starting slow...LOL! I'm really out of shape. I'm doing yoga at night. I have two jobs so when I get time off, I'll be walking!

@Geno: I'm in Freeport...I'm not starting the two week pre-op diet until 1/8/12. My surgery is on January 23rd. I'm going to Winthrop. I'm so excited!!! @Indymom: Eek!! I'm a texture freak!! I don't think I can do applesauce! I'm working my way up to yogurt before the surgery. And I'm going to try Soup too (yes, I don't eat soup, weird I know). I'm going to play around with the supplements and see what feels right. I'm going to start my supplement regimen during my two week pre-op diet since my caloric intake will be sharply curtailed and to get used to taking so many pills. I'm going to space them out as much as possible so it won't bother my new pouch!! Thanks for your help!!
