  1. I am 2 months post op and still drink alot of Protein shakes because meat is hard for me to eat. A sample of my day is

B- greek yogurt or babybel cheese with blueberries

    L-Syntrax nectar drink

D- salmon, chicken or Beans with some sort of veggie

S-fruit, cheese stick or an Atkins shake or bar.

I am lucky if I can eat half a cup of food at once. I eat alot of fruit because its sort of a slider food for me and it doesnt hurt when I eat it. I usually have coffee in the morning with Protein Powder in it as well. My menu probably isnt ideal, but it works for me and I get plenty of Protein.< /p>

  2. I was just wondering this myself today. I have had some "discomfort" around my large incision, but only when I pushed on it or moved a certain way. I think its just because I sneezed and tried to hold it in. I dont feel any deep pain and when I am sitting or laying down its just fine. I dont think you have anything to worry about. As to why it happens I cant answer that, but you're not alone!

  3. I know EXACTLY what you mean and I get it as well. I have pretty much given in to the fact that it will just take some time for my body to completely heal. I also eat to much to fast sometimes and boy does that ever give me that feeling. When I eat really slow and take tiny bites it doesnt seem to be as bad. It will get better in time!

  4. Hey boots!

How did it go? What did you think of the recovery house or hotel? How is your recovery going? I hope you are doing well. Let us know!

P.s the ng tube was a tube that goes through your nose down to your stomach. You only have to have that if you are having a revision.

  5. I am also on full liquids and when I get "full" I just dont feel like having anymore. So far I have only felt that way with the Protein shakes. Today I am going to try some Jello and see how that goes. I also never feel hungry.....at least so far, so I have to make sure that I get some nutrition in even though I am not interested in food right now. You will get there, soon you will know when y ou have had enough and its time to stop. Be patient.

  6. When my surgeon close me up, he used stitches. They told me to keep them covered until the stitches came out (with bandage changes of course). I had to stop covering them up. I got the worst rash/irritation and blisters from the tape. It is so itchy and uncomfortable. What should I use to stop the discomfort?? . I have never had any problems before...could it be because I used it for so many days?Ahhhh...Help.

  7. I started my full liquid diet today yeah!! I am wondering what exactly is a full liquid? This morning I had a yogurt that I blended with some milk to make it thin. Could I do the same with Soups? I read somewhere that if you can drink it through a straw it is considered a liquid. I have a delicious Soup recipe I want to make~ and then blend into liquid. Would that be ok? Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

  8. Hey Miranda!

I am doing very good! I tried a Protein shake today for the first time and it seemed to sit well. I havent been hungry at all, but know I need some nutrition. It was a real pleasure to have met you as well and I really hope to stay in touch. After the first 2 days, I havent had any problems getting my fluids in. Im so glad to hear that you are doing great!! I have to admit, Im doing ALOT better than I thought I would. Have you heard from anyone else yet? I added everyone to my Facebook and so far everyone except Amy has responded. I better run and finish my shake....lol Take care and keep in touch ( I will too!)

  9. Just got back from my surgery 2 days ago and I HAD to stay at the recovery house for 2 days because I had a NG tube placed during the surgery. It wasnt to bad. I was one of the lucky ones that had a room that I only had to share with one other person. The hotel was nice but we ended up on the loud side and I could hardly sleep for the night I was there. I opted to come home a day early just so I could rest properly. However, the hotel was very nice and you could have all the popsicles and broth you wanted. The staff was very nice and accomodating. Request the quiet side!! Best of luck.

  10. Hi there!

Just keep in mind that you are only 5 days out. It will take time to get used to the idea that you cannot use food as your go to anymore. If you do have an addiction to food you can try a 12 step program like food addicts annonymous or Overeaters annonymous. Counselling could also be an option. Try to keep your eye on the prize. Remember why you wanted to have this surgery done. I know one of the reasons I wanted it done was to break the addictive behaviour that I showed with food. It will take time, but you can do it. Keep your head in the game!

  11. Hi!

I got back from TJ yesterday and after a good nights sleep I feel pretty good all things consdiered. The experience was not bad at all and I am glad that I did it. I was very nervous about being sick and feeling really lousy. I will admit, the first 2 days were rough, and I was kind of hatin life, but I trudged through. I had a nasal gastric tube for the first 24 hrs after the surgery and I think that is what bothered me the most. I HATED it. I wasnt sick, I have been able to drink fluids pretty well and I feel good!!! I will keep you posted on my progress. Have a great weekend.
