    Submitting to insurance

@phatfatgirl- how old are you? How long did you have your band? My insurance made me get mine removed and I have to wait 8- 12 weeks to heal before revision. It's already been 3 weeks so, the count down begins.
  2. Fabulous forties ladies! I am one of them! I am 41. I plan on shedding this extra weight with revision to bypass in November. And hopefully reach my goal weight by summer time next year. I keep hoping that I will get to my original weight, but 6 pounds 11 ounces is not realistic hehehe. All joking aside, let's face it its so much harder to lose weight in our 40"s than it was whenever we were 20. With our WLS tools, we can all reach our goals and a healthier life:)

My surgeons office submits everything. All I need to do is show up to the appointments

    How much fill

Everybody is different. I had an allergen 10 cc band and never got over 5.25cc in 4 years that I had it. My friend had the same band, same surgeon and she had hers filled at 7 cc and still could eat whole foods. I believe it is just the anatomy, and positioning of the band on each individual person as to what level you will feel satiety. Whenever I had fills, I would usually get only 0.25 or 0.5 cc at each appointment. I never wanted aggressive fills because I have been too tight before.

I have used Mederma and it works really well. I have also used Stone Crop which is organic and it really helped mine.
  8. Wow you are beautiful! Great photos and awesome transformation!!!!!
  9. @auntitraci. You named your doggie Moose? My little boy furbaby is named Micky Moose haha!!. I have 3 Malshi-s (maltese - shitzu ). My oldest is 8 and her name is Bella. My other two are 4 yrs old and their names are Koco and Micky. Wow 3 life classes is great! The more info, the better! Congrats on passing your psych evaluation. I am so sorry to hear about your sleep apnea, but I will almost guarantee that will go away once you start losing! I can tell you that C-Paps take some getting used to. If you can get a good nasal mask similar to this one, it will be much easier. http://www.buzzfeed.com/joeloliphint/the-invention-that-could-end-obesity#.rhAGAn1YGM You may need to start off with 20 minutes then work your way up in time. 20 is better than nothing.. 11. My insurance used to require 3 months of physician supervised diet, but now they require 5 months. Usually when we start this process, we get weighed with a beginning weight. Then we get weighed each month under supervision. When we get to the end, which weight and BMI do they submit to insurance company? What happens if you lose weight to the point where your BMI is no longer 40? Can anyone help with this answer?

WORK: Too Soon or not. . .

I agree, you need time for your body to heal. I am anticipating taking 4 to 6 weeks off mainly because I travel for work 5 hours one way. So I will need to have decent reaction time and mental alertness. I have a combination of desk job, but also I am running around alot too. @SunlnUT - I am glad you took the extra week. Your body will let you know for sure.
  13. You all are cracking me up! Lol mine....sadly they are heading south. I worry about the drastic weight loss and where they will be headed. Who knows... I may end up stuffing them in my socks before it's all done!
  14. My Zumba instructor was telling me about something similar that she had read about. It is like a funnel type thing. Not sure if this is the same as above article. This article below talks about a device called "full sense device" http://www.buzzfeed.com/joeloliphint/the-invention-that-could-end-obesity#.rhAGAn1YGM

    Looking for preop friends :)

Hi you are free to add me, just PM me, I am on Facebook. I was a banded patient but that was removed Aug 10th and my surgeon is making me wait so I can heal before revision to RNY which I plan to do in November. Not sure on the date yet. It might be Nov 12, 13, or 16th. My NUT, and Psych evaluation is Oct 2nd and then they will submit. The hard part is waiting, but I still have my port incision that is still healing. Looking forward to getting to know others who are going through this journey too

    So sick today

I agree, add one food at a time so that you know how you will react to it. I am so sorry you are having a rough time. Call your NUT and see what she recommends. Please keep us updated on how you are doing. Hugs!

    I just realized something!

That's awesome! @@Sajijoma - do you have a tentative date for surgery?
  18. Dream4tc

    Taking this hard!

Oh there are so many things you can still do such as legs, butt, abs and cardio! I injured my knee several times in the past and didn't allow myself to stop going. I just focused on arms, abs, and butt. You just have to modify your workout for a while, no worries! Just know your limitations and listen to your body. Walking is always great cardio!

@ANewMe83. Yes PB2 is very good. You can mix in with shakes too. They also offer Chocolate PB2 if you like chocolate and peanut butter yum!!!!
  20. @@doyouhear - blood sugar checks are protocol after abdominal surgery. Our bodies react from trauma from the surgery so they just monitor. If there is a problem, they can see the trend and address it. I am not Diabetic either, but every abdominal surgery I have had, it has been protocol. I think I was in recovery about 1-2 hours.
  21. I think it depends on your boss if you feel comfortable in telling them. Some bosses aren't trustworthy enough with that information. Legally they can't ask you. All they can ask is how long do you expect to be gone and when are you planning on return.
  22. @@auntitraci I have heard of people using the Flintstones Vitamins also. The first month, we won't be able to eat the solid Protein so shakes or unflavored protein that can be mixed in SF pudding , yogurts , Soups etc.so that you can meet your protein needs to avoid muscle loss and to covert the fat to energy so that you lose weight quicker. How old is your German Shepherd? I love animals. I have 3 dogs of my own. I think I would go nuts staying at home. I work part time just on the weekends and occasionally work from home also. My husband has been extremely supportive over the past 11 years. He has been through every crash diet, and supported me when I went through the band. He has even ate similar foods to what I was eating at the time to make it easier for me. He is also supportive of my decision for bypass, even though I know he loves me just the way I am, but he wants me to be happy and healthy. We actually had a conversation the other day. He said that when I get done with my bypass and later my tummy tuck, that he wants a Harley. Lol. I had said "ok no problem". Then he said, "not a matchbox kind, and it must be life size, has an engine, with wheels, and it must be in working order". LOL! He was specific, because he knows my sick sense of humor. He asked for a Harley years ago and I got him a matchbox size and put under the Christmas tree...hehehe! That's awesome that your husband is supportive. It makes it so much easier!
  23. @@Pinkgirl1234 so glad your endo went without complications! That darn reflux! At least now you have that helping your case. wow that's awesome that you have your appointments so soon!!!
  24. If you have worked for a company for over a year and have worked at least 1250 hours in the year, then you can qualify for FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act ) which you are allowed 12 weeks in a calendar year. I have been working for the same company that offers paid time off (PTO ) and also emergency medical time off (EMTO). Usually the first 32 hours come out of a Paid time off bank and then the rest can come out of EMTO bank. I also have short term disability benefits that I pay through work. If your work doesn't provide PTO, you can still qualify for FMLA if they have more than 50 employees, but you may not get paid if you don't have PTO. However you time off will still be protected under the law and they have to keep your job as long as you return at the end of the 12 weeks. I am not required to disclose to any employer what I am having done. I will say I am having surgery, but will not disclose specifics. Employers can't ask you either, it's against the law. So, if your employer has less than 50 employees, and if you have worked there less than a year, then you won't be able to use FMLA. I would find out those questions first. I am a pro at FMLA lol
  25. @@Lemon109 - so glad you had a good appointment with your Dietician yesterday! Premier Protein is concentrate.. I haven't tried any of the BS shakes yet. Yeah Benefiber is a must. I was going to check if I can continue my fiber gummies after surgery because I have diverticulosis and don't want to get constipated and trigger a diverticulitis episode, those are painful. Ever since I started on the fiber gummies, I haven't had any problems. How do you prepare your shakes? I wonder if the foam taste is the mixing process? Thanks for sharing the Bariatric fusion. I will have to check those out. I love the calcium citrate chews from Celebrate and BA, they are yummy! , however I might try the cinnamon you mentioned just to have a variety I plan on buying the unjury unflavored and also GENEPRO unflavored protein to mix with food. I hear they are both good.
