  1. So as of today I am 1 month and 2 days Post Op. Here are some photos. Have lost only 17 pounds since surgery and total 36 pounds to include pre surgery. I know I should be happy but for some reason I thought I'd lose more than that.Been at a stall lately. My co-workers said it looks like I'm losing inches faster than pounds and can definitely see a difference. On a good note my size 28 LB jeans are super baggy and I just slipped on my Right Fit size 6 LB Jeans (have no idea what a size 6 equivs to) today that I haven't worn in a year woohooooooo.

Hoping to see more pounds come off before my big trip in August!

  2. I feel so terrible. Like I'm not myself at all. I woke up this morning feeling horrible. My tummy was making weird noises and tryin to get up was like a act of god. I don't know if it's stress that's taking a toll on my body or what (had VSG 4/10/12). I am a 25 y/o college student and finishing my finals this week. One class has me so stressed since I fell behind with surgery. I don't know if it is that now with stress I have to be super careful because of the surgery it could be more harmful? I'm just confused. I hate this feeling.

  3. Everyone's bodies are different. I've heard from people where working out and toning helps reduces sagging where others have it no matter what. Good news is there are solutions for that. I was once worried about sagging skin too but I came to the conclusion I'd rather have a normal BMI with saggy skin living life being happy then being morbidly obese with the issues that come along. So for me health trumps saggy skin. If it gets bad I'll look into cosmetic procedures to correct it. That's my two cents.

Congrats on your surgery and good luck!

  4. I did two classes this week, I didn't like the first instructor but the second instructor today wow. I couldn't do everything but I broke a sweat and I feel it in my body lol. Kicked my ass in a good way, I did notice though that drinking Water and moving makes me have nausea so that may be an issue. It was like getting motion sickness after drinking Water lol. But other than that I'm pretty good. Figured I'd start small and just stick to two classes a week or at least one and build up.

  5. So I'm engaged and my fiancé and I have been together for over two years now. We've even flown to Europe to meet my family together' date=' we have a ridiculously expensive trip to Antarctica booked this fall, we've lived together for over a year now, etc. But lately I find I'm not attracted to him at all. There are, naturally, some things about him that irritate me, like complete lack of desire to improve his health while constantly complaining about falling apart and what not, but really, the biggest worry to me is that he basically disgusts me physically.

I went through a stage where I had no sex drive, so of course, I was not terribly attracted to him then, but now I'm finding that I'm getting lots of crushes on literally every other guy who comes in my vicinity, yet I still have no interest in him. The fact that he's not the greatest in bed does not help.

At the same time, I enjoy his company, he has a good sense of humor, and as a person, I definitely like him. But lately I'm constantly thinking about breaking up with him. He's been constantly texting me that he loves me, and I realized I get very annoyed when I get these messages.

The difficult part is that he's completely obsessed with me and I have no idea how to handle this. He's a very anxious, high-strung person who doesn't deal well with stress. Last year I told him I was thinking that maybe we could move to a different province after I graduate and he inmediately started crying and throwing up.

I don't know what to do. I don't even know what exactly I'm looking for by posting here. Thoughts?[/quote']

If you aren't happy you need to tell him. Better to do it now then days before the wedding or even after it. As for his reactions to stress, I say it's bit dramatic but everyone handles their feelings differently. You just have to sit him down and tell him how you feel. Don't let his dramatic reaction suck you back in. Both parties deserve to be happy. As for the trip this fall is it possible to cancel? Did you purchase travel insurance with it? I travel worldwide a lot so I've had some experience with travel and canceling. If you can't cancel I say still go and don't let him ruin the once in a lifetime opportunity to Anarctica by being awkward after the break up. Good luck and hope everything works out for you.

  6. I had surgery on April 10th and I can eat normal now. I've eatten half of things like broccoli cheddar Soup, chili, low fat chicken nuggets, less than half turkey sandwich, etc. I'm lucky to not really have anything that has been an awful food experience except Tomato Soup. Still experimenting though.I'm also able to eat salad. It will all depend on what your doctor has you doing. I know some are different where their phases are longer than others.

Good luck and congrats on your upcoming surgery.

  7. Like the others mentioned every surgeon is different and it depends on your BMI. My BMI was over 50 so my weight was a huge risk for surgery. So I had a 2 week pre op diet with liquids and small Protein meal for dinner. The whole purpose is to shrink your liver. If your liver is too big at surgery it can make the surgery difficult or cause to be rescheduled. I'd ask your surgeon why they gave you the diet that way you get a better understanding for their reasons.

  8. Is everyone able to eat their whole meal during their lunch time? I only get 30 mins for lunch and ive read that some people take up to an hour! My surgery is in a month and im sooo stressed about this whole eating issue... No more than 2 oz of Water in a 15 min period' date=' an hour to eat a cup of food, no drinking with ur food ect. Geeeez im starting to wonder if I can do this and will I be happy living like this? Post sleevers please help me with this![/quote']

I just came back to work about 18 days post op. I can sometimes eat half of my meal at lunch then eat the rest at my desk. Sometimes I'll start it during my morning break and finish at lunch. I find sometimes I'm just not hungry so that's a challenge. I usually have less than 1/2 cup of chicken salad and sugar free pudding or just chicken salad depending on how much I want to eat. You'll be ok, it's a bit hard at first but you adjust due to having to form a new habit.

  9. I'm 17 days post op and I've made the mistake of eating and drinking at the same time. The doc says not to do it because it can cause the food to pass through quicker and make you hungry again. But the feeling is AWFUL. For me it's like I've overeaten and I'm about to explode and it's very uncomfortable, thankfully I don't throw up. It just makes me miserable, takes awhile for it to go away. So if you can avoid it at all costs, definitely not a fun feeling.

  10. I'm in the 6 month process for my insurance to approve (BCBS) I'm just wondering can my insurance deny my procedure if I gain weight during the 6 month period??? just curious did anyone go through this??

As the others mentioned, you can ask your surgeon's office if they don't know I'd contact the insurance company directly that way you can hear it from the horse's mouth. My surgeon's office told me my insurance company did not require weight loss of me but just that my BMI be a certain amount. Of course the office wanted me to lose weight just so my liver can shrink but it wasn't going to affect my insurance approval

  11. Thanks Kimmy, Nisalet before you know it six months will be up. I started the process in October and felt like it would be forever. Had 4 months then company switched insurance and I had to tack on an additional two months then boom it's April surgery time (got approved late March). Just make sure you get everything you need i.e. labs, psych eval whatever is required outside the appointments that way when time comes the office can submit and youll be on your way.

  12. First day back at work (I'm a bank analyst so I sit all day) and so far so good. Had such a warm welcoming from my co-workers especially the ones who knew about my surgery. They noticed a difference so I was happy plus I looked fabulous today :-D showing off my slighlty smaller frame. I didn't feel like I was going to die hiking up to the building and 3 floors (elevator) to my desk so that's progress. I feel really good. Only thing that sucks is sitting i get a cramp where my largest stich is so I have to stand or walk on my breaks when I get the chance. Haven't had any problems with food so far just Tomato Soup which doesn't agree with me right now. Had about 1/2 cup of chicken salad and sugar free pudding for lunch, did a small walk. Feel relaxed. Day is going by fast. Glad my first day is going well! Really thankful I've been able to recover easily with no setbacks.

  13. Hi y'all I'm Bre. Sleeved on 4/10 single no kids. 25 almost 26 years old from Texas. I've been told "I'm really pretty for a big girl" and now with the weight coming off I hope One day I can just get a compliment without "for a big girl" lol. My love life is a hot mess so I'm not expecting a dating miracle once I reach goal but more of acceptance for myself.

Because....like RuPaul says " If you can't love yourself then how the hell you go'n love somebody else? Can I get a Amen?!"

  14. Tonight I went to the movies with my parents to see Think Like A Man(good movie by the way). Usually I fit uncomfortably in the seats with both armrests down, the showing was sold out so I had to have the armrests down. I still spill out of the armrest BUT it wasn't painfully uncomfortable. My mom even noticed how I sit comfortably now, I was able to seat peacefully and enjoy the movie :).PLUS another NSV I fit comfortably in my dad's tiny Hyundai Accent now, no hunching, looking uncomfortable or praying for a short car ride. Sat comfortably and ran errands for two hours. So excited with these results, can't wait to see what's next!

  15. Thank you everyone. My doc said don't worry about it, he said I lost 10 pounds in a week, when's the last time that happened?!? It seems I'm losing inches more than pounds, he was pleased with my progress he noticed I looked smaller. He said he'd rather have me weigh like 290 looking frame wise like I'm 180 rather than weighing 180 but built like I'm 290 (he used that as an example). So I'm just gonna focus on inches rather than pounds and limit my weigh ins to just appointments only or once a month. That way I won't obsess!

  16. I had a morning of labs, X-rays and tour of the surgical facility for the first half of my pre op then the second half was with my surgeon where he goes over what will happen and we ask our questions, etc. I also had to pay my portion of the docs fees then. I had my insurance consult on my last appt before the pre op appt and the moment I got approval I got a date on the phone.

  17. Only reason they would postpone is if you didn't follow the plan and gain weight or if they do the surgery and your liver is too big they can reschedule. Honestly you should be ok, I'd call your surgeons office and ask. Only they know really what would have to happen for them to reschedule. Least you'll have piece of mind verses worrying based off of advice from us you know.

  18. It's all about the liver, they need your liver to shrink. My NUT gave me recommendations for Protein shakes. I did EAS Carb control AdvanEdge already made shakes. I'm on the go so I don't have time for a blender. That was 110 cals with 17 grams of Protein had the twice or sometimes three a day. Then small meal at night, Jello and Water in between. What is it that your NUT wants you to focus on? Are you liquids only or low carb? Have you lost any weight?
