Hoping They Dont Postpone My Surgery

Only reason they would postpone is if you didn't follow the plan and gain weight or if they do the surgery and your liver is too big they can reschedule. Honestly you should be ok, I'd call your surgeons office and ask. Only they know really what would have to happen for them to reschedule. Least you'll have piece of mind verses worrying based off of advice from us you know. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hoping They Dont Postpone My Surgery

It's all about the liver, they need your liver to shrink. My NUT gave me recommendations for Protein shakes. I did EAS Carb control AdvanEdge already made shakes. I'm on the go so I don't have time for a blender. That was 110 cals with 17 grams of protein had the twice or sometimes three a day. Then small meal at night, Jello and Water in between. What is it that your NUT wants you to focus on? Are you liquids only or low carb? Have you lost any weight? Sent from my iPhone using VST

United Healthcare Choice Plus Of Nj

I don't live in Nj but I do have United Healthcare Choice Plus here in Texas. My employer purchased the bariatric package so it was covered. I had to do 6 month supervised visits with nutritionist and surgeons office. Labs, X-rays and psych evaluation. Started the journey October 2011and was sleeved April 10 2012. Good luck and congrats on your decision to pursue VSG. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Flight Stress!

I suggest getting to the airport early to check in. I always do that, that way when I use the kiosk I can change my seats if needed and I always ask the flight desk people if the flight is sold out or not . Sent from my iPhone using VST

You're not supposed to but I've done it before, my first time doing an extender. I was so embarrassed I didn't wanna ask again. But really you need to leave them on the plane lol Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Flight Stress!

What airline are you flying? I'm abig girl standing at 5'5 weight around 375-390 when I'd fly. I flew to Europe twice last year and Boston to Texas. I needed a seat belt extender on all flights including connecting ones except the flight to Spain which I was like OMG yay! I am so OCD when it comes to flying, I check my seat assignment everyday to make sure no one is sitting next to me and if they are I will literally switch seats. I ALWAYS pick an aisle seat that way I can get up and stretch. I used to love window seats but since I've gotten so big I'm like cramme up against the window and it's tourture ! Luckily I haven't had to buy another seat or have mean people sit by me that call me out. Most of the time in lucky to sit next to super skinny people or generous people that put the armrest up. I've also upgraded to business class at check in for the bigger seat (sometimes costs ($60-$150). If you're traveling with your mom have her do the middle seat and you take the aisle OR if it's a plan with 2 seat options do that and at least your mom can put the armrest up for you if needed. I always ask for my seatbelt extender when I board the plane, as soon as I come through the door I say " Excuse me could I have a seat belt extender please" and they either give it to me then or bring it to me. I've flown Southwest, Delta, Continental, American and United. United and Continental are my favorite, most comfortable seats. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Welcome To My World...

I'm a 25 Year old female who just got sleeved on 4/10 so I don't have a ton of info to give you. But I would say look into it and see if it's right for you. I got this surgery cause I'm tired of being morbidly obese (5'5 pre op 384 lbs) and I need to take my life back! So far I feel a little lighter and my parents say I lost weight and look smaller but I won't know the numbers till Thursday at my appt. I say go for it! Good luck with whatever you decide Sent from my iPhone using VST

  17. It's not even 10:30pm and I'm literally ready to pass out. I went to the nail shop this morning for about 2 hours and it took a lot out of me. How long does this lack of energy and being sleepy all the time last, i feel useless LOL? I'm freshly sleeved as of 4/10. Sent from my iPhone using VST

  19. Congrats! My advice, follow your pre-op diet. It's hard the first three days but once you get through it you'll feel a lot better. I was sleeved on Tuesday 4/10 at the age of 25 so I'm still freshly sleeved. So pre op is all I can offer lol that and have a good support system. Congrats again see ya on the losers bench soon Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Starting Pre-Op Diet

For me the meat was supposed to be palm sized and veggies. The meal was suppose to be "light" but I always had slices of turkey with salad and I'd only end up eating half of it. I guess the key was it to be "light" lol. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Great News!

Congrats Amy! When I started my journey with Aetna POS II they required I do a 4 month supervised visit with the NUT and nurse practitioner, labs, X-rays and psych evaluation. I then switched to United healthcare in jan since my company switched plans so I just had to do two extra months. What REALLY helped is I talked to my surgeons insurance people and set the expectation that I'll be switching insurance plans and asked what all I needed to do to make sure nothing gets derailed so that everything I did with aetna transferred over to UHC. And sure enough everything transferred and I was sleeved 4/10! Good luck on your journey and congrats on your upcoming marriage. See you on the losers bench Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Starting Pre-Op Diet

Good luck! You can do it, the first three days are the hardest. I was on a liquid diet so i did a EAS Advantage carb control shake for Breakfast and lunch (sometimes a third if I was starving waiting for dinner which was a palm sized meal with meat ad veggies). I ate sugar free Jello in between as a snack if needed and drank lots of Water with crystal light. Sugar free gum helped, I got the Extra mint chocolate chip that would curb my cravings. I had surgery on the 10th and my liver shrank a significant size (I was a big girl at 399 down to 384 for surgery) so my surgeon was pleased. I was worried they'd cancel my surgery cause my liver was too big if I cheated too much or have up on the diet. You're going to do great! Before you know it you'll be approved with a date and on your way to a new you Sent from my iPhone using VST
