  1. Congrats on taking the first step with the appointment. Usually the surgeon talks to you about surgery and asks which one you would like to do (if you haven't specified already), makes recommendations, answers questions. Then usually the insurance person comes in and talks to you about what the surgeon requires of you and what the insurance requires. And sometimes they may have you meet with the nutritionist on the same day depending on how your office does things.

    Ok I Need To Vent...

I don't know how you had the strength not to punch him in the face LOL. I know I would have if it were my hubby LOL jk . Kudos for not eating the candy. Hopefully he realizes what he is doing and become more aware.

    Surgeon Consultation....

I met with surgeron the first appointment then on my pre-op appointment. 6 months I had to go for visits with the nurse practioner and NUT. Took a few days to get insurance approval then was scheduled for surgery 3 weeks from then.
  7. Thank you ladies! @VSG30815 I'm not going to lie, the pre op diet is challenging. Mine is protein shake for breakfast and lunch and for dinner a palm sized meal. Water in between. It's all mental really. I started this past weekend (suppose to do 2 weeks but I got derailed the first week ) and I've lost 10 pounds and my tummy has shrank a little bit (surgeon says thats a good sign that the liver will be good). What has helped me when I was wanting to eat a snack is sugar free jello. I also used straws to drink water and the protein shake (EAS Advantedge Chocolate) which help me savor it more. The first 3 days are the hardest but then your body gets used to it and you feel less hunger and more full. One of my mentors told me no matter how much it sucks and you want to go run to Mcdonalds and get something you don't need sticking to the diet as much as possible is worth it. Last thing you want to happen is get on the table and your surgeon say no go because your liver is too big. Unforuantely they will know you did what you were suppose to do or not, that's what motivated me to stick to the plan. I'm terrified of being that person that has to reschedule. Good luck to you on your surgery

    Im So Frustrated...i Could Cry

Like the others mentioned, the company has to offer COBRA in the event your mother is let go. Praying she isn't the one to be on that unlucky list. You have to make sure you have a Plan B just in case. I'd reach out to your office and talk to them about a possible payment plan. I had to do that with mine when I originally had to pay $2000 out of pocket I told them what I had upfront and if a payment plan could be given. They normally didn't do payment plans but since I was a good paitent and always paid my office bill on time they made the arrangement to work with me. I wasn't going to let anything get in my way of this surgery. I'd talk to your employer too, let them know whats up and what options you have in the event your date gets moved up. Hoping everything goes well and your mom keeps her job and you have your surgery as plan. Good luck to you.
  9. Thank you MissDiva, I can't wait to share my progess!

    Halfway!

    You look amazing congrats!
  11. Is Applee Bee's under 550 Calore Sirlon too much as a "light" meal on my pre op diet? Says palm sized meat and side veggies for dinner on the meal plan. I'm having the EAS Advantage shakes for Breakfast and lunch 100 calories each and sugar free Jello as a snack. Please help. http://www.applebees.com/menu/under-550-calories/roasted-garlic-sirloin
  12. I think it depends on what kinda pre op your surgeon has you on. Make sure the sodium level isn't too high
  13. Congrats on your weight loss and 10k! You look great .

    Joy And Disappointment

I have UHC Choice Plus as well. I have to pay $2878 out of pocket. I haven't met my deductible. I was so devestated. I called my surgeons office and surgery facility to work out a payment plan. I was determined to have this surgery come hell or high wAter. Luckily I was able to work out a payment plan as an exception for the doctors fees. $1300 down at the doctor office and surgery facility $100 down. So thankful they worked with me., I would ask and pleA your case to the office. People are more open when you can put something down. Good luck and hope to see you on the losers bench next month.

    Am I Being Taken?

I have UHC Choice plus. I only had to do X-rays, bloodwork, nutritionist and psych exam. I'd call the bariactrics department for UHC and have them clarify what your plan requires of you.
  20. Praying for you. Congratulations you'll do great
  21. April 10th! So excited and nervous as heck. I'm 25 years old and I feel like I'm finally going to get my life back. Hope my stomach is heeled in time for me to go to London in August for the Olympics

My dad is retired USAF and is going through Tricare. Requires 6 month diet and all the steps.
  23. Day one of liquid diet had a EAS AdvantEdge shake this morning and water. So far I'm ok but WHY is it that all I can think about is food?!? It's like I'm having a food funeral in my head. Is this normal?
