Hello Bandsters,
I was banded on December 6th, and had to have it removed on Valentine's Day due to slippage. Very disheartening, to say the least. However, I am not giving up! I need to heal from this weeks' surgery, but now I am looking into the sleeve (which is probably the route I should have taken to begin with - who knew?) My body just did not gel well with the band.
Any advice on the sleeve? The last few weeks have been very painful with eating due to the slippage, and food was always getting stuck. Do you get stuck with the sleeve? What does eating feel like? I know it's the same premise (small bites, small meals, no eating/drinking at the same time) but I'm wondering what the differences are.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Getting my first fill today. Does it hurt?

Hello beautiful bandsters,
I was banded a month ago, feeling better and have moved on to real foods, and my first fill is scheduled for next Wednesday. I've noticed this week the scale hasn't moved much. Argh! My appetite seems to be at full force. I'm thinking that after my first fill, that will change. This is right...right?
Hungry in Texas,

Thanks, Humming bird! Does it get stuck or just make you nauseous?

It's me again.
I am going to FINALLY (hopefully) graduate to soft foods next week and I'm curious about the "no pasta" deal. It's soft and can be chewed to next to nothing. Is it really going to be a no? Just wondering.
I am 3+ weeks out, post op. I actually had a soft omelete last night, small, but it gave me no problems whatsoever. I am learning to chew so thoroughly that everything just disolves. I was hoping I could do this with Pasta, too.
Thanks for your input!

Sweetie, I'm jumping on the bandwagon here and encouraging you to EAT MORE. Not tons more, just more - 800 calories is NOT too much and if you are constantly hungry, you will soon become depressed. That's no way to be a success at anything! I'm 10 days out and I'm just starting to get my appetite back, so I know what you're going through. If it would make you feel better, get a second opinion from a family doctor or nutritionist. Blessings to you!

Hey beautiful bandsters!
So I was banded 10 days ago (I survived! whoop!) and my appetite has showed up again, guns a'blazin! I had hiatal hernia repair work done with my band and I truly was in the worst pain afterwards, EVER. Subsequently I had little to no appetite for about 5 days...literally, all I could take was 2 spoonfuls of liquid a few times a day.
Now? Oh my word, I can drink my entire 8 oz. preop shake in 15 minutes, no pain or pressure. And I'm getting hungrier in between. Help! Is this normal???
love,

Thank you all. This helps! Oliversmomma, I really didn't have any symptoms, other than some pretty bad heartburn. Just make sure to ask your doctor how you should treat it afterwards.

Thanks Newbie! One day at a time.

Hello beautiful bandsters,
Anyone come out of surgery with the news that you had a huge hiatal hernia that had to be repaired? What is the recovery for that, and what did you eat? I'm having a hard time even drinking, due to the pain in my chest, so I know I'm not getting in my required fluids. Is this normal?

Hey beautiful Bandsters,
Just got home from the hospital. Everything went well but the gas is excruciating. Just being real. I'm walking, deep breathing, and took 2 GasX strips (which made me nauseated). I just need one small ray of sunshine...and any other suggestions to kick this gas to the curb. If it's a timing thing, I will wait it out, but if there are any sweet remedies out there, PLEASE - share the love!

Thank you, TracyC...that is exactly what I needed to hear tonight! Jitters...but it's all good.

Hello Beautiful Bandsters!
It's finally here...Banding Eve. Can you share what I can expect the moment I wake up after surgery? My only concern is feeling like I'm going to vomit all the time. I know that's my imagination going haywire, but I abhor being sick. And will I ever eat again?!?

Hello beautiful people,
My band surgery is Dec. 6th - woo hoo! - and most of my questions have been answered here, except for the Hair loss deal. Is there anything I can do to avoid that? I've worked hard to grow out my hair and I hope this doesn't sound shallow, but I'd like to avoid losing it if possible. Ideas?

Hi Mimi122,
Wow, just this week! I hope you're feeling better soon. I just had a hysterectomy (3 weeks ago) so I'm just coming off of a surgery with incisions (4 1-inch incisions on my belly). Can I ask, how many incisions this surgery requires? I just joined this forum today, researching. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!
HI everyone I was banded on 11/1/11, I never thought in a million yrs this would hurt so much, but as days go by, today 11/5/11, I see i feel much better, but where the port is its really bruise and still hurts with some swollen there, other insicions dont hurt, is this normal?

You just made my day! Thank you!
coffee is one of the things I am allowed on my clear liquid diet. Non dairy Creamer, you can use powdered, or the coffee mate flavored yumminess in the milk section of the grocery store. My favorite is the amarretto. Just check the ingredients and make sure there is no milk or cream. I know they are full of sugar (er..corn syrup) and hydrogenated oils, but one or two tablespoons a day won't hurt you, and it feels like you actually get something yummy. I also bought some gingerbread flavored and starbucks coffee beans! YUM! Also, I keep reading about how coffee is really good for you, prevents cancer, etc.. One or two cups won't dehydrate you. It seems to actually help with my swelling a little, and gives me energy. Go for it! You'll feel like you got some dessert! LOL!

I'm reading and reading and so far not seeing anything about the "coffee experience", post surgery. What is allowed?

When I came home from surgery, I was very sick and vomited alot the first night. Then after my first fill, the vomiting started up again. My doctor said it is very rare, but the vomiting is what caused it.![:(](https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_sad.png)
