  1. I am in my plateau right now. I have only been banded for 2 months. I did really well the 1st month with a 27 lb lost, and in the last month have only lost 1 lb. However, I am trying not to feel to discouraged. I know everybody is going to hit a plateau at sometime, and probably more than once on their weight loss journey. I just look at it as being part of the deal.

  2. We have all been there. I am still there!! My surgery was Jan. 23rd and I did really well. In the first month I lost 27 lbs and was stuck there for almost a month. Then last week I lost 1lb and am now at 28lbs. I have tried really hard not to be frustrated and know that this is all part of it. However, my clothes are totally hanging on me, especially my pants. I need some new clothes but would like to wait a little longer and see if I can lose 10 more lbs. before I go shopping. We will see. Just remember when you are feeling frustrated or confused by what your body is doing - get on this site and share it. This is an amazing site with lots of good people with good information.

    Be Blessed!

  4. Sometimes I have to remind myself when I am eating that whatever I am eating is not the last time I will get to eat that food. Does that make sense? What I mean is if there is a bowl of M&M's at work and I take 10. Instead of going back later and grabbing more I try to say to myself to stop because it won't be the last time I get to have M&M's, they will be there again another time so don't pig out on them, save it for the next time. I hope that sounds the way I mean. Like CG said, be smart with your choices.

  5. This is how I just had my first fill, which was a floro fill. I went into a room that had an xray. I laid on the table and while they put Fluid in my band they watched it on the xray. Then I drank a small amount of barium and they watched it go through to my stomach to make sure the fluid I was swallowing would go through the way it was supposed to. Will this help me lose weight any faster - I don't know. I just believe that it is more accurate in deciding how much fluid to put in my band. Hope this helps.

  6. I have been banded for 3 and 1/2 weeks and did sound like a sailor like elcee said above. My 2 boys, 9 and 11, kept saying "Mom, you get on us when we keep burping like that" and my husband kept saying "Sexy!", sarcatically! I told them it wasn't my choice but that I had to so that I could help clear the gas out of my stomach. That went for like 2 weeks after being banded. However, it is much better now and don't notice it to be a problem now at all.

  7. Mine is similar to Rockstar_Jen. Two days after surgery only liquids. Then 5 days of pureed foods, one week of mushy food, and then chicken and fish for a week. Today I had my first fill so I am on liquids today, pureed tomorrow, mushy on Sunday, and real food on Monday! Can't wait. Of course I have to go slow and make sure I can tolerate everything but I am excited. I haven't started exercising yet. I need to just haven't. Also, I am only allowed 1/2 c of food.

  8. I had my first fill today. They put in 2.5 cc's. I had myself so worked up over nothing. My Dr. didn't numb me and it was like a little pinch. After that, while they were adding the Fluid, I didn't feel a thing. I had to wait 15 minutes, drink some Water, and I was done. I couldn't believe how fast it went. Then I had a short meeting on nutrition and was finished. Don't sweat it Msluv, it was nothing. You will do just fine.

  9. I had band with plication and I only have 1cc total in my band and I do not want anymore. I'm happy where it is at and I've lost 113 pounds since may 2012

Your story is amazing. I love hearing that you and carolinagirl have done so well with your band with plication. I have the same thing and was banded January 23rd. I go in for my first fill on Friday and am wondering how that is going to go. I am down 26 lbs since preop. Have been following the nutrition plan almost to a "T" but am starting to get a little hungrier between meals, not starving, but hungry. I am feeling positive though and know I have made a great decision.

  10. Hey hun, been soooooo busy cant even tell you, between school, work, anniversary, family... Havent had a chnce to breath, but as of now 25 lbs down....how have you been?

I have been doing great. Can't believe tomorrow has been 3 weeks since our surgery. I haven't had any real problems and am down 26 lbs. I get my first fill on Friday. Can't wait to see what that is like! Happy 2 year Anniversary!

  11. Hey Everybody.

For those already banded, how long before your first fill? I got my band on January 18 and I don't get my first fill until February 28. I am frustrated cause I can eat whatever I want. I have almost gained all the weight I initially lost!!! I'm pretty depressed about it.

I was banded on the 23rd and I get my first fill this Friday, the 15th. Sorry you are struggling with your nutrition. Don't give up and just keep trying. Are you controlling your portion sizes? I am only allowed 1/2 cup of food 3-4 times a day. It has to be either fish or chicken and steamed veggies. I can have a Protein Shake as a Meal Replacement. What kinds of things are you eating?

  12. I wish I could lose also. I have lost 2 lbs in 3 months and workout regularly and stick to 1200 calorie diet. Get all my Protein in and use myfitnesspal to track religiously. Im at a loss for words how depressed I am about this. I have 50 more lbs to go. I have tried to go back to the protein drinks then mushies but don't have the willpower I use to have for that. I start out great then by day 4 I want to eat everything in sight. I have no Fluid in my band because I was getting stuck with everything I ate. Not even two to three bites and I was stuck and vomiting all the time. My doctor says if I can lose 4 lbs in 6 weeks that is good. I can't even do that. I have lost 80 lbs so far. I think I will go back to my support groups at my hospital. I think I need it.

I think going back to your support group would be a good idea. Maybe they will have ideas on how to get on a roll again. Have you talked to the nutritionist at your doctors ofice?

  13. The boots and you look great. Boots are my goal. I have been jealous of my friends for a long time because they always look so great in their jeans and boots or dresses/skirts and boots. I have huge calves and even the extra wide calf boots don't fit. When I can finally fit into some they are going to be so hot! I would love a regular pair of cowboy boots too. I live in Fort Worth and everybody has a pair of boots - not me. Soon!

  14. I am new so I haven't experienced what you are going through. But, at the support group I go to somebody said the when they hit such a hard plateau they kind of start a "do over", meaning they do a liquied diet for a week or so, then mushies, and build back up to regular food. I don't know if anybody else has done it but this is just something I have heard. Good Luck and hope that plateau breaks soon.

  15. Welcome to the other side Ireallywannabethin! I am a newbie also and was banded about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. My doctors office tells all of their patients from here on out that we should start every day with something warm to drink, whether it be coffee, tea, warm Water, whatever, but we should do this every day. I do feel tight in the morning but this helps tremendously. I am up usually at 5:30 and have my tea and don't have a Protein Shake until about 9am. Works for me. Try it and maybe it will help you also. Good Luck!

  16. Quick question...when did you guys have your 1st alcolholic drink after getting the band? I am 20 days post op and down 25 lbs (including liquid diet) This week has been hectic and exciting, celebrated my 2 yr anniversary with my boyfriend and today is his birthday. Just wondering if having one glass of white wine will do any harm? Tganks for the input

Anali, good to see you back on the site. Mimi and I were hoping you were doing good and it sounds like you are. So glad for you.

  17. Hi everybody. I was banded the 23rd. Today has been my hardest day. I have been craving sweets all day and it didn't help that there was a dessert auction at church today. My kids bought some Cookies, the no-bake chocolate kind (yum), and I bought my husband a chocolate pecan pie. I have had a bite of both and am fighting not to have another bite. It is so hard because I have been so good but I feel like I could grab a spoon and make myself sick on the pie. Uugghh! I have not had any alcohol and am wanting to wait a little longer. I am 2 and 1/2 weeks post op and I can eat chicken, fish, Protein Shakes, yogurt, fresh fruit and veggies. Of course all of this has to be chewed to the consistancy of applesauce and I can only have 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day.I started my post op on Jan 9th and so far I have lost 26 lbs - 12 before surgery and 14 since. I get my first fill on the 15th. I hope it gets better for everybody who is struggling. My doctor has a support group once a week for all of his patients. Do you guys have that option. I have been 2x and have really enjoyed all the information that is shared. If you can I highly recommend it.
