    Hair Loss

I am about where u r with the BMI. I was 70 lbs from goal before my surgery and dealt with the same issues concerning the feeling that I was a "loser" because I was "resorting" to WLS. My head told me that I should be able to do this. I opted for the sleeve and I'm gonna be totally honest about the outcome. I was sleeved on March 5 and have lost 13 lbs since. There are both physical and mental drawbacks for sure. I f you don't stop eating AS SOON AS YOU FEEL FULL...YOU WILL THROW UP. You get that "icky feeling tummy" if you don't follow the rules COMPLETELY. (not drinking during eating, etc). You also have to remember that just because you have the surgery does not mean you get rid of that desire to eat things and amounts that you shouldn't. I'll admit that I have had days when I wondered if this was worth it. BUT... My days of regret came during my second week post op when I lost a big fat 0 pounds. I suppose it was a "stall" cuz I'm back on the losing wagon. I have decided, without a doubt, that this was the right decision for me. I'm learning to cope with the desire for "bad" foods (and the desire for too much food). I've also found that when I drink plenty of Water, and get my Protein in, AND minimize my carbs, I feel sooo much better... All the way around. In the end you have to decide which is more important.....Being able to eat what you want as well as how much you want, regardless of the consequences....OR being and feeling healthier and wearing the clothes you sooooo want to wear. I honestly don't see either as the "right or wrong" choice.....just has to be right for you.
  3. I posted a short plea yesterday and happily had several people respond. I'm gonna plea again today and hope that no one gets upset with this repitition. I started vlogging my journey on YouTube. My channel is MsDebisTime. I am asking for y'all to take a few minutes and view my videos and Please, pLeAsE, PLEASE subscribe! This vlogging is kinda my "mini project" and is really helping me cope, understand myself, gain support....so many things! I began my journey by watching other videos about others' weight loss journeys and I have soooo enjoyed them and learned soooooo very much from others' experiences. Please do this for a fellow VSTer....Thanks!!!
  4. I think you are smart to think about that reality, but I also feel like it is prominent enough in your mind that the reality won't be such a slap in the face for you. I'm only about 1 1/2 weeks out but everyone tells me that, tho we kinda "morn" the place that food held in our lives, before we know it, the "new normal" will take over and we will be all the happier and healthier for it. That, after all, IS the whole goal here. Good Luck to you on your journey, and welcome to VST. This is a GREAT site!

    Tomorrow Is The Day..

The first couple of days home, my doc told me that the main thing was hydration. After that work on your protein....just remember that dehydration will land you back in the hospital quickly. Huggggggggs!

    One Week Post Op

Right now I'm om supplements, cream soups, low fat cottage cheese and greek yogurt. I'm not getting in all my protein either but our sleeves are very new and still healing. 6 lbs is great in 5 days! I'm really trying to look at the NSVs (Non Scale Victories) as well. Good Luck to you!!!!
  14. I was just sleeved on 3/5, but I have already realized that this is an issue. I'm honestly not sure exactly what works as "a replacement"...but I know that I have turned to this site when I feel that urge to eat something that I shouldn't.... Just getting on here and reading about other's struggles makes me feel normal, and boosts my spirits. Good Luck to you, and take advantage of this site!

    Getting Real

So today I came to the sudden realization that I have not been very real with myself. I had my sleeve on Monday, 3/5/12, and followed the post op diet for ..... 2...3 ....days?? Then I just started eating little bites of various things. Nothing really bad...a tad of cheddar here, a piece of chicken nugget there, a bit of shrimp,... None of these things are terrible, but my sleeve is not ready for them. I need to slow down and let the sleeve do it's job and stop pushing to the finish line when I have barely begun the race. So, I'm back on track and following the Dr.'s post diet orders. I'm actually feeling better...a lot less discomfort. Who'da thoought the doc would know what he was talking about? LOL So today I get real and use this tool and not abuse it. Makes for a happier, healthier me.

    Getting Real

I did so much better today! My first NSV for sure! I stuck to the post op diet and feel so much better! I even got more fluids in. I also switched from crystal lite to the low cal gatorade. I think my body needed the extra boost right now. Thanks for the support!!
  17. Please watch my new video on YouTube...Getting Real on MsDebisTime! Please subscribe!!

  18. I was wondering....how long until you are able to eat a small child's meal size rather than a couple of table spoons at a setting? LOL Not that I want to be able to eat that much...I just didn't like the way my hubby's family "noticed" how little I ate at lunch today. They were nice and not nosey...I just don't wanna be noticed for that. Sound dumb?

    I Can't Believe I'm On My Way!

So very much has happened since my last blog in November. I suppose I got rather frustrated at times which is probably a normal way to feel when one is trying to get something so life changing scheduled. When I realized that being sleeved by the end of the year wasn't going to happen, I relaxed a bit and just decided to enjoy the wait as much as possible. To make a long story short, my insurance did not cover my surgery so I ended up being self pay. That's ok. I don't care. I had my sleeve done on Monday, March 5, 2012. I barely one week out, so I still have a lot to learn. I am so very happy tho. I don't care how fast or slow my weight comes off. It's coming off. That's enough for me!!
