    General warning for women

I think this was the easy 4 lbs to loose. The rest of it was harder! ha ha ha, but don't assume icky symptoms are from your band. I know you'll think I'm weird to say this but there was divine influence in me finding this problem so there also must be a reason for me to share the experience. I don't want anyone else to go through it.
  4. :omg: I have been banded for quite some time and started noticing a while back that the 2nd half of my menstrual cycles I would get sick quite a bit more often.:sick When I went to the dr they said, "yes it really was possible to have that happen," and I got an unfill. It helped a ton, but I was still getting sick more often then I should have. I had these symptoms... nausea, fatigue, constipation, and a bit of a lower back pain. I also noticed my upper legs were sore some times but I'm getting older right. My stomach was tender to the touch, but heck with all the constipation and nausea you would think that would be normal too. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I blamed all these side effects on my band. :hat: If you have weird side effects like mine, please talk to your doctor! I had a 4 lb ovarian cyst. (all the same symptoms as ovarian cancer) These are not symptoms you should just assume are related to your band. If I would have just listened, or talked to other bandsters I would have realized that, but I thought it all had to be normal. Anyway, I'm home recovering from surgery and I can't take those dang 800 mg ibprophin. They won't go down and make me sick, but I'm not worried about that one! Thanks, Karen

    Tummy Tucks...

I'm not done having kids but when I had my surgery this week to remove my right ovary I told the dr if he ended up doing a full hysterectomy I wanted a tummy tuck and not to wake me up unless I had one. If I can, by the grace of God, have another baby, I'll have a hysterctomy and a tummy tuck all at the same time.

    Erosion: Our OWN Statistics.

I had to have an ovarian cyst removed this week and the dr took pictures of my port. I don't have any of the actual band but the port looks brand new!

    constipation?

Anyone having trouble eating enough fiber? If I eat fiber, I get sick, no matter how much I chew. I can eat some salad but not enough to keep me from being constipated. Has anyone tried any fiber pills or drinks that help? I'm also thinking that my intestines are used to having lots more food in them so they don't like to work with the little they get now. What are your solutions?

    Things I look forward to

I love the definitions of obese & morbidly obese. My first goal was to hit less then 200, my next goal is to plain ol' obese and not morbidly obese. You say that to people and they laugh at you. I'm comfortably in a size 18 but I'd like to be a 12 when I'm done. I'll never fit in my daughters cloths. She takes after her dad, tall and skinny. She's 11 years old right now. 5'5" and weighs 95 lbs and is in a size 0. I can't help but love her anyway! Here's to being plain ol' obese!

    Happy Thanksgiving

Sure will be an interesting thanksgiving don't you think. I know I'll be able to spend more time thinking about what I'm thankful for since eating won't be as big of deal. I think I'll try to be the last to sit and the first to get up and do dishes!

    Weird dreams

Is anyone else experiencing weird dreams. I'm not on any pain meds so I don't think that's it, but I've been having the weirdest dreams lately. Can you think of some other reason I'd be having these?
  12. I have two questions. I'm 5 days banded. How long was it til you noticed extra energy or the need for less sleep? The second question is the side of my tummy with the port is obviously larger than the side without? Is that normal?

    Hello Utah!

I'm in Salt Lake City. There are currently 2 doctors I am aware of that do lap band surgery in Utah. Dr Hansen and Dr Alldredge at Alta View. The first Dr to do them in Utah was Dr. McKeen in Payson but he's recently moved out of Utah. To the best of my knowlege these dr.s are it. I was more than impressed with my experience. Both dr.s are very supportive and their office staff is top notch. Kuddos to both of them and extra kuddos to Charlene in their office. She sailed my info through my insurance company in less than two weeks. I started in Dr McKeens office and had been working through them for 5 months and Charlene got done in two weeks what Dr McKeens office wasn't able to do in 5 months. Alta View was wonderful too. Very kind, very attentive, all around great experience.

    Hello Utah!

I'm amazed how how great I feel. I noticed today, though, I can eat quite a bit more than last week. My first fill is on the 3rd so I guess I'm ready. It's easy as pie. Good luck and keep in touch.

    Soymilk

Wow, I don't think I've seen sugar free syrups. Where did you find them?

    adkins diet post op????

I like the vanilla much better than the chocolate. Have you tried the vanilla? Sometimes, when no one is looking I even put a berry or two in them or the chocolate with a dolup of peanut butter or half a banana. Yum yum. If you use soy milk you even get more protien. It's almost a sin!

    scale or no scale

I don't own a scale. I've always thought they were evil. I mean, every time anyone gets on one they cry right? Well, maybe not anymore. Do you think I should buy a scale?

    I need your help!

Help, I mean it. I really need your help. You know I'm 12 days banded and I mentioned that my left side is quite a bit bigger than my right. I went to the Dr on the 9th day. He looked at it and didn't think it was a big deal. Swelling from the surgery. Every day it seems to get bigger and bigger. It's to the point where it looks like I'm pregnant on one side. I can press on the right side of my tummy and it's soft a squishy just like normal but the left side has a big softball sized hard lump in it. Did anyone else experience this or should I be on the phone to my surgeon 1st thing in the morning? What do ya think?

    I need your help!

Yeah, I guess I have paid for it. My husband thinks the surgeon left his palm pilot in there or something. The weirdest thing is it's a tiny bit tender but you have to expect that. It doesn't hurt as bad as you'd think it should getting as big as it is. It's just weird! Thanks!
  21. rrrsmom

    Yeah for me!

My doctor has monthly educational meetings after you're banded. They go over nutrition and exercise. This months was a water arobics class. I'm 10 days banded and I finished my first ever water arobics class and I feel great! If you're wondering how you're gonna feel after you're banded, keep that in mind! Yeah for all of us!

    Soymilk

My husband has milk allergies but only in the summer. I know, weird. Anyway, I use a lot of soy milk. I'll try it. Do you ever use tofu? I've been buying the silken tofu and blending it with a soup base like Knorr and using that instead of cream of mushroom or chicken or whatever soups. It's very good!

    adkins diet post op????

I lent my book to my mom and haven't seen it since. If I remember correctly corn, carrots, and beets were the veggies you were supposed to avoid. Watermelon was another no no. I guess I'm gonna have to go over to mom's today and see if I can get my book back. If nothing else, it's a very good read and makes good sense.
  24. That's another good question. Does anyone know?

    adkins diet post op????

Did anyone ever read the Sugar Busters book? It's more healthy protien(low fat), no sugar including foods that turn into sugar like white bread, white potatoes, white rice, white pasta etc. I read the atkins and the protien power and the carbo addics blah blah blah. I always thought the sugar busters was the easiest to understand and it allows you to eat chocolate and ice cream in moderation. Yipee. I think it's a very healthy menu choice. Of course I couldn't follow it completely or I wouldn't be as big as I am now. It said to eat 1 normal plateful of food. I can eat a third of that now so watch out. I'm gonna be loosing the weight
