  1. I was given a specific Protein mix. The taste isnt what gets me, I am just not hungry, so it makes me feel sick. 7 days and they are gone forever! I can do this!
  2. So I am about to start week 2 of my pre-op diet and I am having a hard time drinking all 5 shakes. I am getting to the point where they are hard to stomach. I am good with drinking the first three of the days then around 4 I am forcing them down, which is making me sick. I am not even hungry past 4pm. Should I just force them down? I was told that I need 60g of protein a day, I reach that after 4 shakes. I am just starting to get sick forcing them down? Any advice/suggestions?
  3. Mine are: 20lbs- Get my nails done 30lbs- Perfume I want 50lbs- Family pictures 75lbs- Michael Kors bag 100lbs- New clothes I was told by the psychologist to make this list and have goals not to far apart.
  4. I wish I could have broth! I would kill for some! Sad huh? I am on 5 protein shakes with water in between. I am on Day 5. I am never starving, but I am starting to get rather cranky because I am wanting to chew something!!!
  5. My first goal is to loose 20 lbs. This is a milestone for me because I always loose 20 lbs, and thats it. I am currently down 15 lbs, when I loose the next 5 lbs, I am getting my nails done. I actually made a list of what I am rewarding myself at different pounds lost.
  6. I never thought of that. Being patient sucks sometimes! Thank you!
  7. I am on day 4 of my 2 week liquid diet. Previous to this I was on the "Plate" diet (3oz Protein, 1cup of veggies, 1/2cup of carbs). I lost 15 lbs in two weeks on the "plate" diet. When I had my final pre-op visit, they said I was definitely going to loose weight within the next two weeks, espically if I exercised. So I joined a gym and have been drinking my 5 shakes and just Water. I haven't lost a damn pound! When I was eating food, I was 5lbs less at this point. I hate complaining, which I know is what I am doing, but I am starting to freak out, because in all my diet attempts, throughout my life, I have hit 15lbs, and that was it! I could never loose more than 15lbs. I hope this is just some stall in the weight loss. I have been busting my ass at the gym and fighting hunger and cravings, and not seeing the scale go past 15lbs is kinda freaking me out, and making me a little mad ! I need some encouragement please.
  8. You are lucky that you get to eat stuff other than the shakes. I get 5 Protein shakes a day, with some Water in between! I would kill for some tomato soup or broth!
  9. I am on HMR 800 shakes now (www.hmrprogram.com), 5 times a day. I will be on these until the day before my surgery. After my surgery I was given a list of different shakes I can try. I will more than likely do the GNC Pro Performance powder, and I am on that, three times a day for about 2-3 weeks post op. I just had my first shake, and it tastes good. Taste just like Carnation. I tried using the blender, and it made it too foamy for my taste. I am going to try and use the Blender Bottle for my next one.
  10. Good luck to you too!!! Keep us all posted!!
  11. She is great. She keeps tellling me I am going to be her motivation to change her life, and that she is jealous of my committment! It feels good to have her support! I will defintely keep you posted!
  12. My two week liquid pre-op diet starts tomorrow. I always told myself that when I hit this spot, I would consider this the beginning of my journey. I have struggled with my weight, tried all kinds of weight loss ideas, felt uncomfortable in certain situations, been the fat funny friend, and tonight, as I look back on my past years being overweight, I feel almost sad. I feel like I am saying goodbye to that Amanda. That Amanda always felt awful about herself, and never comfortable. Tomorrow I am a new Amanda. I will be stronger, confident, healthy and happy. So when I wake up tomorrow morning, I will "mourn" the past Amanda very breifly, because I am dying to be the new Amanda! I know there probably isn't much to comment on this, but I just needed to express my feelings at the moment. I just never felt so ready for change. I found this quote tonight: “All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.” -Anatole France This sums it up. I hope everyone has an awesome night. Good night past Amanda!
  13. My pre-op diet is 2 weeks prior to surgery, 5 Protein Shakes made with Water a day...thats it. I agree with Kristen, I am kinda excited to not think about what to make and plan for meals for the next two weeks. I start on Monday. The shakes are pricey, but I am determined to follow everything the doctors give me! Have a good one!
  14. I just had my post-op class last night, and I have to follow a weekly schedule. Week 1 clear liquids, Week 2 introducing creamy soups, yogurt, anything that doesnt require chewing, Week 3 &4 are kinda blended into what I can tolerate for solids, eventually getting to three meals a day, and weaning off the protein shakes. I guess every doctor is different.
  15. So....after 7 days of sticking to the post-op diet that I was given by my nutrionist (the whole plate thing), I lost 10lbs!!! I am so pumped! My NP said 6lbs by 1/24, and I did her 4lbs more! I still have 3 days until weigh in but I am so excited so far. That day I will just have Protein shakes and Water until my weigh-in! I have to say, this past week has been very eye-opening. I realized that I can totally do this. All the doubts I had are gone. I went out to dinner twice, stuck to the plan, exercised everyday, no Snacks, no caffeine, just water. I have to say I am so ready for this! WOOO!! Thanks for all your support!
  16. That is what I was thinking. Doing Protein Shakes the day of my appointment!
  17. I love it so far. They require 1 night stay.
  18. I went to the NP yesterday for a follow-up, and I gained 6 lbs! I was devasted. She was so annoyed. She was saying how I needed to reach 260lbs by surgery, blah blah. So I mentioned how the surgeon told me not to loose anything, granted he didn't say gain, but he told me not too. She quickly cut me off and said that I had to loose 6 pounds by 1/24. I feel confident that this will happen, but I am so aggrevated that my surgeon tells me one thing, and the NP tells me another. The surgeon told me that I don't need to get an apena machine before surgery, she says I do. It is very confusing. Also...has anyone else noticed when you get weighed in the afternoon you weigh more? All my appointments are in the afternoon, and I am so nervous that I will loose the 6 lbs but then when I get weighed, I am 3 pounds more. I am just frustrated. I did great today. I stuck to the Post-Op lapband diet I was given, and worked out, so I guess I just need to work it until 1/24. Just so annoying!
  19. Sadly...mine is fast food. I love it. On the a bad day, the one thing I want is greasy food! I have been using my last 5 weeks before the band, to kinda have a last meal, and they have all been pretty bad, so hopefully I won't crave them as much once I am banded. I will just think of how gross it was the last time I ate it!
  20. I feel your pain. All my clothes are so tight, and I find I am gaining more weight while I wait my 5 weeks as well. I am feel like subconciously I am telling myself, "Eat it now, because soon you shouldn't." or "If I loose the weight now, then what will I loose when I have the band?" Crazy I know, but that has been my thinking. I have been refusing to buy clothes lately too. I have been wearing the same two pairs of pants and shirts to work, and I can't wait for my two week diet. I am one of those people that need to be told what to do and when to do it. So when Jan 30 hits, I will be good. But until then, I am with you! It sucks!
  21. Love this! Thank you! We seem to be pretty close with our dates! Keep me posted with things!
  22. He was fine with it. He was suppostive of anything. He said he just needed to go over every surgery with me before I made my final decision. He suggested the sleeve for me, but my insurance won't cover it. He said he is very confident I will be successful, but I am my worst critic!
  23. Thank you everyone! I think I am just so nervous that I am putting my eggs in one basket, and have no results! But I am determined to drastically change my life, and be super strict on myself! It is about time I did so!
