I dont know .. If I were you I would call your nutritionist/doctor that you met before your surgery . You dont want to get sick from not getting in what you need. Hold your nose , small sips. SUCK IT UP !! lol I really dont know what else you could do .. I personally dont think just soups would be enough . Good luck to you ..

ok Why don't you try watering it down.. Just so you can get it into your system? I know watering it down will not get rid of the taste, but the thickness will be gone.. You really do have to suck it up and just drink up lol. (girl you went this far, just do what it takes) Sucks you can't drink it fast.. Sip sip sip ..... Before you know it , you'll be done with the shakes..... and onto soft foods. What shakes are you drinking ? Are you meeting with your nutritionist? I met with my nutritionist before surgery and im still meeting with her . she has my food narrowed down to a T... I know how much of every thing and what kind of food to eat and when to eat. Get back in touch with your nutritionist if you haven't already . She/he may also help you pick a good tasting shake. Or maybe add something to kill the taste !

Also , is it the taste of your shakes you dont like ?

I was banded December 1st. down over 15lbs...My first two weeks I drank water all day , ENSURE protein Shakes 3 a day (8 oz each).I also had Chicken broth 4oz. and Jello SUGAR FREE EVERY THING YOU DRINK, SIP VERY SLOW! THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY GAGGING IF YOU SIP VERY SLOW. Also get Caltrate (sp) calcium supplement and a multivitamin . You should be fine. Keep us posted and good luck !!

Hi every one. I was banded on December 1st. So i'm 2 weeks post-op and down 13lbs. first 2 weeks was a liquid diet. As of today i'm on soft foods. 1/4c of every thing I eat. Water and protein shakes in between each meal. 6 meals a day. My surgeon stated once i'm on full solids again , he will do my first fill. My nutritionist said Ill be on full liquids as of February 9th. Does this sound right ? That will put me at almost 9weeks post-op. I thought you get your first fill around 5-6 weeks post-op?

Wow, You must have told the same people I told lol. I have big friends, med size friends and small friends. Ive noticed the friends that are skinny that I told were SO supportive .. "good for you". Good luck" "that's great" "im so happy for you" blah blah blAH. My big friends want details, they are interested in the procedure and are now thinking about going through with this . My med size friends that wouldn't meet the requirements for a bariatric surgery basically said " your stupid". "why are you doing that to your body" " it doesn't work" blah blah blah . So I know exactly how you feel. I was banded December 1st. im 2 weeks post op down 12 lbs. Im doing pretty damn good and gonna continue to do good. Im not going through all this and messing up now. I know for me I went through all the same testing that you listed, Nutrition being the very last thing. I met with my Nutritionist on that last visit and she sent my sign in form right over to my surgeons office so they can submit all my paper work to Aetna. Less then a week later I was denied because certain forms weren't submitted. That was back in April. We had to appeal the decision ... That lasted months ONLY because my surgeons office ended up being short handed and the person who handles all Lapband patients was out do to an illness. Before she was put out of work, she SAID she started my appeal. Apparently she didn't . Anyways, once the appeal was submitted, it took 21 days to get approved or denied. I was Approved October 28,2011 I believe Surgery was December 1,2011. I'm down almost 16 lbs. As of yesterday it's been 2 weeks . It's normally pretty Fast. Also depends on how far out your surgeon is booked. I will also ask them how far they are booked. Good luck and keep us posted !

I was banded on December 1st. I feel like i'm already 100% back to normal. No pain, Just the left shoulder pain and burping kinda hurts. I have done clear liquids for the first two weeks. (today is actually my two weeks) I see my surgeon tomorrow for the first check up after surgery. Then I will start on soft foods. ..Cream of wheat (healthy grain) oatmeal, Cottage cheese, Chabani yogurt, 99% Lean turkey or chicken(cooked lightly) fresh vegys only a 1/4 cup of every thing and an 8oz protien shake and water between each meal !!!! Im down 12.6 lbs as of today! YAY ME !! I cant wait for my first fill !!

I was just banded on December 1st. Does anyone have a diet they followed the first few weeks. Just want to make sure I'm on track and doing what I'm suppose to be doing ?!

I was just banded on Dec 1st. When I woke From surgery I just wanted a drink BAD. LOL. They wouldnt give me anything until I did the barium swallow. Felt a little nauseated , but they immediately gave me something for that. As of right now, I can't tell I even had anything done. Except when I try to sit up. Its pretty sore at the port sight, but I'm getting around better today then I was saturday. I even left the house today to go grocery shopping , with the help of my teen of course. Just got banded Thursday and I'm so confused what to eat and drink. Well Drink . I have been drinking water , cranberry juice and chicken broth and today is Sunday ! Should I be switching things up by now ?

I have a list THR says clear liquids for the first few days and solid liquids after and so on. But what are the liquids ? Ugh .
