  1. Sometimes it helps to talk to a professional - maybe your doctor's office could recommend someone? I know it helps me to talk through issues. Also - are you sure you are getting enough to eat? If you really feel hungry, your body might need more food to be healthy. I know I get strange cravings - like for Peanut Butter - and feel so much better when I eat what my body really wants...

  2. One month out from VSG, I was walking every day and feeling great...and I stepped off the front porch and severely broke my left foot! Now I am in a wheelchair for two months. I had to have surgery and now I have a plate in my foot and six titanium screws.

I'm slowly coming off the pain meds and getting a little exercise going out with the wheelchair. I'm going back to teaching high school science in a week.

I tried crutches and a knee walker, but don't have the upper-body strength to not hurt myself. The knee walker was really hard on my abdominal wall.

So, I guess I'll be doing stretches with resistance bands for an upper body workout.

I haven't lost any weight for a few weeks after losing 27 pounds in the first month. I'm doing well on the diet my doctor recommended...just not losing weight...kind of a let down...

  3. I had VSG 8 days ago and am REALLY TIRED! I was going to take one week off from work, but extended it to two. I'm worried about having the energy to teach high school science again starting next Monday.

I seem to alternate days when I can go out and do something, like grocery shopping for my family, and then collapsing the next day. Today was a collapse day. I don't seem to have a lot of tolerance for extra stress, either. The Assistant Principle from my son's school called to tell me that my son had been "zapped" for not doing his homework the night that he came to visit me in the hospital. I had a meltdown. Had to pass the phone to a neighbor who was visiting because I was sobbing.

I'm on track losing weight and really happy about it. I just wish that I had some energy!

I'm drinking three Protein shakes/day and will start Vitamins next week.

  4. I live in Tucson, Arizona. I'm worried about surgical complications - one idea is to go abroad and get the complications insurance that is good at PPO's in the U.S. Sounds kinda crazy, but if I go out of state in the U.S. for the surgery and it is covered by BLIS then I would have to go out of state if I needed care by the same surgeon... any ideas?

  5. Can anyone recommend a surgeon who does VSG who offers BLIS insurance? Thanks! I am a self-pay patient and concerned about complications following surgery.

Also - does anyone have experience with complications insurance after having surgery in another country?
